“Heed the reviews”

Please, listen to the reviews. I read them and dismissed them, because I wanted some items so much. I thought it'd be ok - it wasn't. Firstly, one of my items showed as in stock. You get no delivery info before you pay. After paying, I got an invoice stating that the courier would be in touch no earlier than a month and a half later - that's only contact, not delivery. “Water stains on night table”

I brought a pair of Honore night stands. They claim to be varnished but when I put a glass of water beside my bed the moisture on the base of the glass left a water mark. I tried to remove this mark with a damp cloth to no avail. I then gently used a cleaning product with a soft cloth and all the paint came off the table right down to the wood. When I complained Maisons du Monde said that if I had only left the glass for an hour it would be okay. I did point out it was a night stand! ... (read more)

I really, really LIKE Maisons du Monde's furniture. It might not be of the utmost as far as quality goes but it is reasonable and they have a great selection which means that I can update "the look" frequent-ish without breaking the bank.. right? Normally I have been "fairly happy" with my shopping experiences with MdM -- sure, my orders are ALWAYS late but I have assumed this is a "courier issue" rather than an issue with Maisons du Monde. Went on the website, checked the items I wanted were in stock, placed the order, paid. That was 14th May 2012. First 2 weeks passed with nothing delivered. Rang the customer service line. I was told my 2 largest items has actually been out of stock - what ? the website said they were "In Stock". Then I was told a third of the order would arrive in week 3. It did. The UK used to be charged in euros by Maison du Monde. The website now charges us in pounds which is fine but fails to convert original euro price to pounds. This means the UK get charged more than the rest of Europe. (read more)

“Broken mirror”

Ordered a mirror, which got delivered to my neighbours. When I got it, and opened the parcel, I realised the glass was broken. I contacted Maisons du Monde to ask for a refund, which they refused to process because according to their terms and conditions you only have 72 hours from delivery to submit any complaints. They told me my neighbours should have opened the parcel and checked everyhting was in good condition!!! Ridiculous. Will never order again. (read more)

“Very happy”

After looking on the website and choosing what I would like, I did have a question about the bench which I emailed before placing my order. I had a timely and full reply about my query and so placed the order. After that, the items arrived in good time and were extremely well packaged with boxes inside boxes and enough bubble packaging to shake a stick at! I just ordered a table at maisons du monde and wanted to check the delivery date. When I ordered it the delivery time was 8 weeks, but the next time I checked 9 weeks. The item was still 'in stock' on the website though.

'Client services' told me it will not be available until half august and apparently 9 weeks is just as long as over 3 months to them. If I wanted I could get a refund, but there was nothing more they would do. There was simply an extra month delivery time which I needed to... (read more)

Maison du monde do try to help but they fail with their products and packaging. Item not packed with care and as a result box was broken and leg chair broke in 2. Very disappointing after waiting for delivery and chasing after item as tracking number not provided and overall experience was stressful and disappointing. (read more)

I am also going through this procedure 11 out of 16 items now faulty after 3 years of wear and no even constant wear. So I have written to them and hope I will not get the same answer as above otherwise I will follow it up with a journalist, as well as a stern letter to the board members which is of public avail.
Disgraceful...in this day and age

I ordered and paid for some furniture on line at the beginning of May 2010 for our house in Italy for the summer. the furniture did not arrive on the delivery date. when it did arrive 2 out of the 4 chairs were broken. the chairs could not be replaced until October ( summer over).I am still waiting for the chairs to be collected and to be reimbursed for the money i paid out nearly 3 months ago.They do not deserve any stars for this terrible customer service. Be aware... of the delivery classification (see web site for more information.) Furniture is delivered by specialist carrier, however, smaller items are delivered by parcel:

"... A driver will come to your home... The parcels are delivered downstairs. The price does not include delivery to upstairs areas or installation."
