Customer Service is very poor. I had to wait nearly an hour in total for over 10 minutes several times during the day to finally get through to an insurance rep. They also subtly change some terms year to year and what was covered one year, like roof in home emergency cover suddenly disappeared in 2013/4. The reviews here look disappointing, however, we should take companies as we find them and fortunately for me, my experience with Sheilas Wheels was very positive. I had had a claim turned down for a gas leak from the back of a fire which is almost impossible to reach without knocking part of the wall down. They point blank refused to honour my 'Home Emergency'claim. I would never use Sheila's Wheels or Esure it's parent company again. Having had our car written off by another driver, who admitted full liability, our policy was suspend. Having called customer services three times, to confirm that we could use the rest of our policy, we received a call, while driving to get an emergency prescription on Sunday for my nine year old daughters throat infection, saying we could pay a £1000 or our cover would be removed immediately, the cover was then removed. I'd been a customer of there's for a while taking their home emergency cover as well as home insurance. Recently we had a problem with our electrics so I rang them to get an electrician out (we have a 3 month baby). My home insurance is with Sheila's Wheels. Nice and cheap. When I went to make a claim I found that Sheila's Wheels was "created" by esure, so the claim was handled by them. I've had buildings and contence insurance with Sheila's Wheels. Never made a claim, so therefore can't comment on this. My problem has always been trying to tell them I do not want to renew the insurance with them. With the buildings insurance I sort of take the blame for half the trouble because I just cancelled the direct debit and took out another insurance with another company. When old kitchen was being removed kitchen fitters discovered the hot water pipe(hidden behind a cupboard) was leaking. The wall was soaking so they lifted up tiles beneath to discover the chipboard flooring was soaking wet. and part of it collapsed into the foundations. Have got home cover for high risk items out of the house. If a laptop is used "in part or at all for work" its not covered. They claimed stuff stolen from her work was not "looked after or secured responsibly". I found their cover to be very cheap however it was a major nightmare to claim when we experienced our fire in the flat. The assessor was very quick to come check the house out and make a note of what happened. We were told that the next day someone would come value our goods before they get taken away for cleaning, restoration and or replacement. I locked myself out last week so called Sheila's wheels about my situation. They told me that if I claimed under my insurance all costs for a locksmith etc. would be due a £100 excess. NEVER USE SHEILAS WHEELS - - - - -We had a frozen waste pipe which burst on Christmas Day, tried ringing 24hr line but got no answer. We put in a claim for just shy of £2500 for items taken.

We live in a house with no back garden and only a front door. When the door lock mechanism failed on the door recently, leaving us trapped in the house, I checked the policy (I have Home Emergency) and it clearly states external door locks. Recently I lost an expensive earing. (They were £500 when I bought them in 2003) I rang Sheilas wheels to see how to make a new claim. they told me I could:

I have Home Emergency Cover with Sheilas Wheels. Today my gas central heating broke down. Called Sheilas Wheels, they say that I do not have cover as under their terms and conditions, the boiler needs to be serviced once a year. I did not know this.

We are covered by Sheila's Wheels for the Home Emergency care called HomeServe. We had a boiler breakdown and after sending off an engineer, there has been no follow-up. Every time I call them they appear to be clueless, reading out what's been typed into the system from my last phonecall! I have recently made a claim with this company.
Their system is very very poor.
They ask for two quotes (except they do not tell you this from the start),they then send an assesor out.
Its very difficult to get a builder to turn up and give a quote.
They pretend thats all you have to do.
When I faxed the quote off, they then asked for yet another quote.
I said to the girl to just get their own people to do the work or send out an assessor. She assured me they only needed one other quote.

DONT get cover with Sheilas Wheels. As I write this review (In July) I am still awaiting finalisation of my claim which I made in April. Sheilas wheels 'farm' all their claims onto other companies to sort, so the 'buck' doesnt stop with them. The customer service is poor and although the premiums maybe cheap this is reflected on the service. If I had known they were this rubbish I would have paid more for a different company. Joke of a company.
My wife lost her bracelet (wedding present bought in Egypt), however, as she hardly ever wears it she didn't know where or when she'd lost it. She reported it lost to the police and called Shielas Wheels claim advice line who advised that someone would call back in the next 2-5 days.

I have rated Sheilas Wheels as one star - this is actually one star more than I should rate them!
Last year I tried to make a claim on my accidental damage cover, but it was an absolute joke from start to finish (actually there wasn't really a "finish"). I gave up in the end - afer being interviewed 3 times, they then wanted to phone me again as they accused me of not getting proper quotes - despite 3 companies all quoting more or less the same and all quotes being item-ised!

Absolute RUBBISH. Cheap yes, but what a wrong move that was. A relatively small claim for a leak in the bathroom has taken, so far 2 months and we are right back at the beginning. Pulling teeth with pliers would be less painful and more straight forward. Abismal, DO NOT INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY. They are more than happy to take your premiums but then do not wish to apply logic to claims. Due to the recent frost some mortar has crumbled from ridge tiles on roof and water is ingresing into the loft space. But - Just try making a claim.
Takes weeks. 5 weeks and counting to be told they will not start processing for at least another week.
Call centre takes ages to answer - if you get through at all.
They don't tell you what you need to know.

I tried to claim we have roots growing up the toilet and bath drain pipes the toilet is blocked
We had a company in who were brilliant but the roots are a lot further in than expected, we can't go ahead with the work until Sheilas W have o k'd it, but they are messing about getting someone else in to check it first could be more than another 24 hours
