I contacted SW on line to clarify a couple of points and was asked a few more "standard questions by their agent, before agreeing to the policy and paying annual amount by credit card. I had had a claim turned down for a gas leak from the back of a fire which is almost impossible to reach without knocking part of the wall down. They point blank refused to honour my 'Home Emergency'claim. I would never use Sheila's Wheels or Esure it's parent company again. Be careful with your payments though or you will find yourself paying for another year's renewal with this awful company. (read more)

We recently made a claim through our home insurance through Sheila's Wheels. During strong winds in November our wall blew down causing quite a lot of damage. When we reported to Sheila's wheels they appeared to be very helpful and advised a Loss Adjuster would contact us to discuss. They did so and the damage was inspected a few days later. However despite the service we received at the offset we have been messed about by them since. We were asked to provide 2 estimates for damage,... (read more)

Having had our car written off by another driver, who admitted full liability, our policy was suspend. Having called customer services three times, to confirm that we could use the rest of our policy, we received a call, while driving to get an emergency prescription on Sunday for my nine year old daughters throat infection, saying we could pay a £1000 or our cover would be removed immediately, the cover was then removed. I'd been a customer of there's for a while taking their home emergency cover as well as home insurance. Recently we had a problem with our electrics so I rang them to get an electrician out (we have a 3 month baby). It turns out they've completely removed any problems with electrics from their home emergency cover! I mean no electricity and a tiny baby, what could be more of an emergency? They said it was all detailed in the mountains of 'policy documents' they sent to me when I renewed... (read more)

My home insurance is with Sheila's Wheels. Nice and cheap. When I went to make a claim I found that Sheila's Wheels was "created" by esure, so the claim was handled by them. On 12th April I reported that my son had taken my mobile phone swimming LITERALLY! At this stage I wasn't going to make a claim, we were hoping to dry it out. On 16th April I phoned them back to say that the phone was dead. I had shopped around for a replacement phone. Carphone Warehouse had it for £499 but I found my... (read more)

I insured my car and sent through proof of no claims bonus as requested. Today I noticed that my premium had been returned to my bank less £55.00. I telephoned to find out why. The answer was the type of proof was not correct. I had sent the renewal documents from my previous insurer, this has always been adequate before. They said on the telephone a letter had been sent but I had never received a letter telling me they required another proof of no claims bonus and today I find I was... (read more)

I've had buildings and contence insurance with Sheila's Wheels. Never made a claim, so therefore can't comment on this. My problem has always been trying to tell them I do not want to renew the insurance with them. With the buildings insurance I sort of take the blame for half the trouble because I just cancelled the direct debit and took out another insurance with another company. So when it came to renewing the contence insurance (which I'd had for two years with them) I cancelled the... (read more)

Have got home cover for high risk items out of the house. If a laptop is used "in part or at all for work" its not covered. They claimed stuff stolen from her work was not "looked after or secured responsibly". I found their cover to be very cheap however it was a major nightmare to claim when we experienced our fire in the flat. I locked myself out last week so called Sheila's wheels about my situation. They told me that if I claimed under my insurance all costs for a locksmith etc. would be due a £100 excess. Fair enough because that's what it says on my policy. What they did NOT tell me was that as I had home emergency cover then the excess fees would not have applied. DONT get cover with Sheilas Wheels. As I write this review (In July) I am still awaiting finalisation of my claim which I made in April.
