We had a fabulous time on our 90 minute ride that we had bought via groupon. The staff were friendly and professional and put us at our ease, and chose two lovely horses for us. We were really pleased that this lady was our guide, as she was very calm and knowledgeable and we felt safe and relaxed at all times, she even let us try out a little trot! The setting and scenery were stunning, we were very lucky to have a lovely sunny day. The whole experience was brilliant, and we will definitely... (read more)

My friend and I had a fabulous ride. She took the trek out and made sure that we were all safe and enjoyed ourselves. We were given body protectors for our safety. The horses were very well behaved. There were two rides. One for novice riders who went separately and our ride was for experienced riders. We got the chance to have a gallop which was fantastic and once again the horses were very well behaved. No pushing or trying to race each other. Would definitely recommend and be back. Love... Me and a friend found this deal on groupon and it was a bargain! (£32 for a 1hr 30 m trek both of us) We traveled from the city centre and although a long bus ride it was easy to find, yes a bumpy ride up to the school as ive read in many reviews but i found that added to the escapism, i wanted to be escaping into the country! The staff drove us from school to the trekking centre which was very welcome and were friendly and welcoming for the get-go We were made welcome and given our... (read more)

OK, so it's a bumpy road to the Trekking Centre but it is definitely worth it when you get there!! The people are great and the horses are brilliant. I found them via Groupon and booked an advanced trek in September 2012 and have been going back regularly ever since - it's the best centre I have been to in a long long time. The horses are well looked after and loved, all the people who work there are very friendly and very experienced - they make all riders, whether you are a beginner or... (read more)

My friend and I had read the good reviews about Mill Farm but we came away very disappointed. The owner was only interested in telling us "that we shouldn't be there if we didn't want to fall off a horse" just what the two people who had never even sat on a horse wanted to hear. She showed a real lack of interest in us and didn't hang around very long. The drive to the trekking centre is horrendous, sports cars are not advisable due to the amount of pot holes and a drive along the canal... (read more)

Myself and my daughter went on a horse trek as beginners. The horses, Marie and Paddy are lovely - so gentle. We were led by an excellent trainer. We booked the trek with a Groupon Voucher for our daughter and her boyfriend. We followed directions to the stables to be informed by not a particularly welcoming lady that we needed to travel in convoy to where the trek would begin. The approach to the farm itself is not for the faint hearted or owner of a sportier car as the road was filled with deep pot holes and very closely alongside a canal! This said, the staff leading the trek were lovely, with a warm welcome and couldn't have been... (read more)

I booked on groupon for the trek. I was not disapointed. As a complete beginner with never being on a horse before I was made to feel at ease. Jess was our leader that took us on the trek, She was great and nothing was too much trouble for her. She stayed with me the whole time as i was a nervous beginner. I would definitely go again as this was an amazing experiance. The trek itself took us through The Middlewood Way and I believe you can go into lyme park weather permitting. Thank You... (read more)

This was the best trek of my life! The instructor at mill farm riding school was so friendly and made me feel so relaxed as i was a bit nervous on the horse as i had never ridden it before. She spoke to me the whole time and gave me so many new tips on how to ride and it boosted my confidence so much and i feel that my riding has improved so much since this hack. My friend and I had both not ridden for quite a few years and we decided that we'd like to go again. I really enjoyed my day at the Mill farm trekking centre. I went with my friend and colleague on a sunny day in August. We were welcomed by all staff and treated like friends. I am a beginner/novice horse rider therefore, I was only used to walking, trotting and had slight experience in cantering. I rode Malibu a beautiful black and white cob that seemed well trained as all I had to do was tap/squeeze her slightly and she did what she was told. I would definately recommend anyone to have a... Went trekking with Mill Farm Riding School and Trekking Centre today 27/10/12 with some very good friends of mine. None of us had been on a horse for 10yrs well we think it’s about this? It was just like the saying it’s like riding a bike you never forget. In this case it was a horse. It all came flooding back. We all had a lovely afternoon trekking through the countryside up & down the dales. The views & the wildlife were fantastic. It was especially lovely to see the deer's roaming... (read more)

This was a Groupon deal, with a limited time. Helen was very helpful in arranging a siutable date, even though the Groupon was running out. When we arrived for the booked trek, the weather was so bad, they allowed us to rearrange it for a later date. I have read other comments about the riding school reception, but on both occasions when we arrived, someone came out to greet us and explain how we would get to the trekking center. The organisation at the trekking center is excellent. Josh was our guide, he had the horses ready for us, he found us suitable hats and body protectors, and then took us on the hack. We had a great time trekking over lovely countryside, on happy responsive horses. They are well cared for and obviously loved, and Josh was full of personal knowledge about them.
I would recommend the trekking center to anyone.
