“Great fun!”

Written on: 31/05/2015

My 2 daughters have just competed in the Mill Farm Riding School show day, all the kids had the best day ever! They did in-hand and ridden showing, show-jumping, gymkhana games and completed the day with a chase-me-charlie. All the kids finished the day with loads of rosettes, trophies and massive smiles on their faces, all the ponies were immaculately turned out (part of the kids show preparations) and all looked happy, healthy and well loved, the ponies enjoyed themselves too. Brilliant… Read Full Review

“Great Riding school”

Written on: 30/05/2015 by Jamison182 (1 review written)

My children have been coming here for a few weeks now and my son has started to help out at the stables. The staff are all lovely and really helpful. The lessons are very professional. I have been to other riding schools before where they don't really take any notice of what a certain child can and can't do or what he or she has learnt, where at Mill farm they move them into different groups once they reach a certain level, the staff genuinely care and want the children to do well. I would… Read Full Review

“Great Riding School”

Written on: 29/05/2015 by HorseOwner (1 review written)

My daughter had a great day at the Mill Farm Show yesterday. Thanks to all the excellent and supportive staff! The horses are well cared for and we have happily stabled our own horse here for over two years. I would recommend anyone who wants to ride to come here. It’s such a lovely yard with such a great atmosphere!… Read Full Review

“DON'T!”

Written on: 16/11/2014 by O'Nealwy30 (1 review written)

My daughter recently went on one of Mill Farms treks. Okay, it was a Groupon offer so we didn't pay full price, but even though it was cheap I really wouldn't recommend it ..... unless your idea of a trek is to ride along the roads of Hazel Grove! Hardly the trek they describe across rolling countryside! The school borders countryside and there are fields all around, yet it was road riding! Busy roads! Not great. Don't bother!… Read Full Review

I am sorry your trek was not as you would of liked but due to poor weather conditions it was to dangerous for you to ride on the trekking route so a bridle way ride was offered but to be technical the Groupon vouchers all expired in September we did how ever go over and above to honour expired vouchers

If I may set the record straight. We used our voucher while it was valid! It was a dry day ...as it had been all week! The helpers hardly spoke to the three children on the trek; my daughters helper was plugged in to her phone the whole time. You put my daughter on the wrong horse; she had ridden before the others hadn't. You caught up with them in your car and shouted at them for getting it wrong. Remember?

“Great horses, friendly staff”

Written on: 15/09/2014 by MekhiKoenig173 (1 review written)

Groupon booking is a nightmare (I believe booking direct is much easier and more reliable, but obviously I had a groupon voucher), but the horses are amazing. Not your usual follow-my-leader trekking plots, all the horses I saw looked fit and healthy. Those I rode and were in my group on the two occasions I have been here had spirit and get-up-and-go but also amazing manners and willingness to listen to their riders. On one visit we rode down bridleways that are also used by runners to end up… Read Full Review

“absolutely fantastic”

I went on hack today for 90 minutes and it was awesome!! The young gentleman that took us out was the nicest person I've ever come across he was so helpful with everything ensuring the whole ride felt at ease and in comfort the whole time!. We was waiting around the farm until it was time to head off and in the time We was there there wasn't a unhappy face about everybody was happy and smiling. ++++++ our trek leader took us onto the middlewood way and then onto a field which he called "the… Read Full Review

“Recommend to all!”

Lovely place to ride, very child friendly and an extremely well run place. I have read the previous review and notice there's a lot of children at mill farm but just seems to be extremely child friendly and I am aware they have a designated play area where I have seen children play, I suppose school holidays create havoc for everyone!… Read Full Review

“Gone downhill”

Written on: 18/08/2014 by Adair10 (1 review written)

The treking centre is lovely. However, the riding school has gone downhill! The horses are never ready, the lessons are always late and you do not get the same instructor. The stables are not well kept anymore, once we attended in the heat of summer and some of the horses had no water at all. The staff are friendly enough but are they qualified to teach? Who knows! Safety is no longer priority as toddlers are allowed to run around the yard pushing toys around and one was actually whipping the… Read Full Review

“Hack in the countryside”

Written on: 11/07/2014 by judent25 (1 review written)

My 2 daughters, 14 and 11 enjoyed a hack, through a Group on deal we treated them to. I found it difficult to book the hack in the first place and had to call the office many times before I was given a day and time for the hack. It was easy to find the farm, filled out the relevant forms, before driving off to different stables 10 minutes away for the hack. It was down the side of the canal and quite a challenge to drive down. There were a lot of potholes. Once there, the staff were great… Read Full Review

“Simply fab”

Courtesy of Groupon my friend and I had a great time today here. The staff at the trekking centre were great and paired me up with my new bf Jake, a 19 year old gentle giant :-) For me this was the first time on horseback, aged 50 something, but the staff put me at ease and I was well looked after throughout the trek. Only took about 10 mins to feel relaxed and enjoy the scenery. Hope to go back soon. Highly recommend *****… Read Full Review

“Wouldn't go anywhere else!”

Written on: 03/07/2014 by jenkins1993 (1 review written)

I have been attending Mill Farm Riding School for around 5 years now and have enjoyed everything about this establishment! I began having lessons in the school which gave me the confidence and ability to start jumping lessons and go round the cross country track that is situated at the Riding School. The instructors are all friendly and knowledgeable who are happy to answer any questions and make you feel comfortable. I have visited the trekking centre on numerous occasions and would definitely… Read Full Review

“Just brilliant!”

Written on: 29/06/2014 by RuthAshton (1 review written)

My friend bought my daughter a trek as a birthday present and four of us went today. We has a lovely time. He met us on the riding stables and drove us to the trekking centre. The horses were lovely, he was polite and pleasant and we had a fabulous time riding through fields, near the canal and in the valley. We were allowed to canter with the horses and loads of freedom. All in all it was a great experience. Highly recommended to horse lovers who want a chilled out ride with nice people… Read Full Review

“ Mill Farm Riding School and Trekking Centre 90...”

Written on: 28/06/2014 by TheGreenes (1 review written)

My husband and I booked a 90 minute trek as a present for my niece and her husband - both in their late 20's. Last Sunday 22nd June 2014, the four of us set out to Mill Farm, somewhat nervous as we were all beginner riders. What a fabulous day we all had. We arrived at the farm and completed the necessary forms, then followed directions to the trekking center. Here we were met by ***( sorry it says don't put names ), who immediately made us feel welcome. He introduced us to our lovely horses… Read Full Review

“Poor horses! ”

Written on: 23/06/2014 by JaylenTodd (1 review written)

Recently visited Mill farm after reading the good reviews on here and was appalled at the state of some of the horses and tack. One horse hacked out with only one shoe remaining, and another one looked in a very poor condition, and definitely not fit to ride, all covered in mud and sweat marks and clearly had not seen a brush in a while. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing, and was completely disorganised. Horses tack was broken and staff did not seem to care at all about any of the… Read Full Review

“had an amazing first lesson”

Written on: 20/05/2014

I went there for the first time yesterday after 12 years of not being on a horse and I was to young then to remember anything so I started as a beginner. I came with my siblings and friends as part of a homeschooling group. The instructors there were really friendly and helpful and the horses were simply amazing! I rode Betty she was beautiful and very patient when I got something wrong, as the instructors were. All the horses looked very well looked after and happy and I can't wait to go again… Read Full Review

“A truly great family experience +++++++”

Written on: 29/04/2014 by makaveli96 (1 review written)

Me, my wife and my twin daughters went to Mill Farm on Saturday 26th April 2014. We had purchased a family Trek ride (90 mins long) through beautiful woodland. Each one of us had our own horse (what great animals) and our own guide. We were treated with a real personal touch and given a friendly ride. None of us had ridden before, but this didnt matter. We were given all the advice needed, and each provided with all the required health and safety equipment. I honestly dont have anything… Read Full Review

“COME HERE NOW!”

Written on: 04/02/2014

I really enjoy going to Mill Farm, it's one place where I feel at home where so much is happening all around me! When I first went there about 1year ago I could barely do rising trot! Now I am perfecting rising trot, sitting trot, canter, gallop and I can easily fold over a metre! Mill Farm is also an excellent confidence giver for all those who have just started riding and great for the more experienced. One grey pony and girl really stood out to me when I went there as a true bond, Twinkle… Read Full Review
