“Weekly failures are a minimum”

The first time in reviewed WHUK was right at the beginning. You get helped then someone begs you to write a nice review. Then you find out the real service. The last 6 to 8 months we have had minimum weekly failures. Today, zero access for a whole business day again, zero response to emails. Same story "You don't have anti virus installed". They keep telling us this again and again, despite the fact we keep reminding that it's in our package!!! If you need reliability or assistance at any time, go elsewhere.

“They can ruin your business”

A complete waste of money and time. My business is related to gambling and sports betting and their server was up and down for all the duration of the World Cup 2014. The longest server outage was 36+ hours on June 15th and 16th. My server (VPS xLITE ENTERPRISE plan £38 per month) was down also on July 13, the World Cup final day, the most important day of every 4 years. Their customer support was totally unable to give explanations about all these problems. Webhosting UK's uptime guarantee is 99.95. Are you kidding me? 99.95 is about 4 hours and 40 minutes per year! They can't guarantee 95% uptime, trust me. Their billing department refused to give my money back and I'm fighting to have the migration code and move elsewhere. Don't waste your money with Webhosting UK, thay are ruining my business and my reputation. If you are looking for a reliable hosting service, stay away from them.

“Multiple issues. Loss of email constantly”

I had used this hosting for a few years, seemed ok. The odd bit of downtime. Nothing major, but then they upgraded stuff. Endless problems. I renewed stupidly and within 1 month lost email constantly. Support would take ages to fix it, then 1 week later, same issue. Support took ages to fix again as they had no notes on previous fix and they wouldn't listen to what I was saying. I moved my hosting and within 1 month got an email asking if my service could be improved. A nice reminder that I need to cancel and get a refund. I got no response and they raised a cancellation request. Excellent, all is in hand. I thought.. Turns out no refund was issued. I then get a renewal request. I query and ask why I'm being asked to renew a cancelled membership. Apparently I did not confirm the cancellation. But I never got a request to confirm this. Anyhow they simply refuse to refund £16 I'm due. Waste of time and money. Not very helpful. Stay away.

“Used to be good, but not anymore”

They are a law unto themselves. They pretty much do what they want when they want. When they want to upgrade a server, and they tell you a time it will be off line if they decide on the day to do it sooner or at different time, they will do it. And when you complain they will not apologise. When someone hacks your email password and sends email from your email address instead of disabling just that email account they will disable your entire hosting package with them so that your sites and your clients sites are all offline with the horrible message "account suspended". There is very poor comms and all staff are foreign customer services. After this I will not renew with them because I have been treated very badly and not once have they said sorry. Their attitude is very poor.

“Lost backup, servers changes, WHUK root password revealed”

I have been using this company for a very long time and have threatened many times that I will leave them due to their constant poor management, however having a lot of clients websites hosted with them it does make this process not desirable to say the least. They make server changes far to often which are supposed to improve security, however have an adverse affect of completely disabling clients websites for which I need to spend ages "helping" their team resolve the issues. They deleted one of our accounts by accident and did not have a recent backup to restore because of a recent server migration. Their website provided any tom, d ick or harry access to their master Enom account which anyone could have taken control of, as they "accidentally" had a web page in "developer mode". Username: whukenom Password: wEbh0xxxxxxxxxx (removed for security and has been changed anyway) They are cheap, but cheap comes at a cost... improvement is needed with their back end management team.

“Disgusting service”

Shocking is all that I can say. Out of all the webhosts I have had dealings with, I have never come across support staff that do not listen to your problems at hand and when 'trying' to transfer two co.uk domains have the ones contents trashed. Servers in the USA, call centre in India and NO contact presence in the UK... Say's it all.

“Waste Of Time & Money”

server is always down! apparently being DDOS attacked every single day. Absolutely sick to death of their hosting being down all the time, it is completely ridiculous. Had nothing but problems!! Problem never gets resolved - always takes hours to get any decent response. Would have more joy speaking to a brick wall!

“Please stay away”

This is the worst hosting provider i have ever been with. Shoddy service, website always down, their support staff are unqualified and rude. I asked for a database backup and my website went down for 3 days. Honestly its beyond belief. Im so frustrated i stayed with these clowns. BE WARNED

Maybe you are just no qualified yourself to handle a hosting, a database backup is not that complicated. and being polite isn't that difficult either, I can tell I have had terrible hostings in the past 20 years and this one isn't one of them :-)

“Stay away”

This the worst host provider I have ever seen. Stay away. My site continuously kept loosing connection with mysql. 4-8 times a day and would not reconnect until I contacted support to have them restart the mysql service. I have an ecommerce account, so not one of their cheap packages. There is no telling how many times it went down that I didn't catch, or how long it was down until I did catch it down. 99% uptime is a joke with this company. This continued for over 4 weeks. it then took me 2 weeks to find another host and get my site relocated. I prepaid for a year and doubt I will see a refund so it will become a test host now for other software. thats all it's good for. If you want headaches, this is the company for you.

I 've had first had experience with this "so-called" hosting company, and I can personally say it was a nightmare. I was down more than I was up, even after purchasing cloud hosting which technically assures you 100% uptime.

I've had to move hosts a number of times, but I used to hate the stress and worry so would put up with their rubbish for months, quietly telling myself these skirmishes would iron out and things would improve.

The number of times ive woken up to issues and then spent precious hours trying to get help is incredible. I moved from this company last year after I suspected sabotage, I then hosted with a company in the US, and all seemed fine until they started taking a mickey too.

I have several of the very best monitoring tools watching my sites uptime and performance, and if I go down for several hours and im told theres NOT a problem, then I dont argue anymore... I MOVE.

This happened the other week with the US company, so I moved to a hosting company here in the UK, had probs from the start, and now it seems their going into my email account and reading my mail - UNACCEPTABLE behaviour, so even though ive only been there a week i'm moving today, and they can keep my money if necessary. ALL I care about is having peace of mind, and I'll go to the ends of the earth to find it if i have too.

If a sites going down for maintenance and they tell me, NO WORRIES. But when these numpties have server problems and refuse to acknowledge to their customers theres a problem - LEAVE. Move your business to a company thats more deserving to have it.

I realize that basic cheap shared hosting has its flaws and you really cant expect top quality for such a low price, which is why I usually host cloud or vps. When Im paying top dollar/pound I EXPECT GOOD service.

Most companies are the same, they take your money and then its FU. Greedy, grubby dirty that will ALL get their cumuppance. lol

“The worst webhosting!”

Webhosting clowns. Stay away from them. Really. Stay away from them!!! It would be very, very good for your health and of course for your bussiness too! (my review is based on 2 years VPS hosting with those clowns!!! 2 terrible years! almost lost all of my bussiness because of those i*d*i*o*t*s)

“Poor Poor Poor”

So many problems including site hacks & down time. They actually deleted my site by accident once! The worst thing is when you complain about a problem, they will slyly fix the issue and then say there is no problem. Amazingly when you check, the issue is fixed & they make out that you made up the problem in the first place! The latest issue is that their IP has been blocked by a spam house so i cant send emails. Yet it was not until i complained that they realized their is an issue!

“Useless Hosting”

I have been constantly battling with them now for over 5 months, their servers are rubbish and we are constantly losing emails, we are constantly not able to send and receive emails virtually every evening, their tech support at live chat is hopeless. We are constantly receiving send receive errors, we suffer this on different clients in different locations on different internet providers and they try to tell me it is all because my ip address is locked out of their firewall, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, I WOULD SCORE THEM "0" IF I HAD A CHANCE TO DO SO. If you value yopur company do not use this hosting service. GO ELSEWHERE.

“Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”

As prospect you'll get fast and friendly support. Quite impressive and attractive. When you have committed and paid for your service (always in advance) you're greeted with "Mr Hyde". We have experienced many critical errors. Every time support act like nothing is wrong. When things are up and running again they still act like the problem never occurred. When it comes to small issues support can be quite responsive, however when serious issues turns up, they fail big time. Even if we occasionally have seen glimpses of great support, the overall impression is deficient, unprofessional, rude, third‐rate – in short it’s at best a joke Stay Clear or risk your Data and Mind !

This is really bad hosting company. Stay clear. You can even call them half the time for support because the number does not work. You are kept waiting on the chat channels for ages. It's very frustrating. If you value your website then stay away.

I am starting to regret ever hosting with tihs company, the only think keeping me going is the hassle of moving. but after another outage today (31 May 2012) I am at the end of the line, I dont think I can take anymore.

I run two businesses, I made the decision at the beginning to host my sites externally so I could have I.T support and have the hassle of operating a webserver and email server taken away from me. I switched to webhostinguk two years ago because I wanted a UK based company. I used their Windows based hosting plan. In short… this company have done nothing but damage and harm my businesses reputation. Constant email problems, not being able to receive emails, not being able to send, emails being blocked by customers servers, constant SPAM blocks and messages about my email server’s IP being notoriously connected with spamming, constant bottlenecking of email queues because they’ve allowed spammers to share the same server as my domains, constant website problems, at one point customers were clicking to see our site and a screen was coming up trying to download things to their computers! On one occasion typing in one of my business domains actually brought up a completely different company!! A multitude of FTP issues, with FTP areas just going completely offline and despite several support calls has never worked properly again, the list of problems is endless. Literally the ONLY good thing about this company is Live Chat, which usually results in them fixing the problems relatively quickly, but the problem is a week later you just run back into the same issues. And what’s worse is you never get given a satisfactory explanation as to why these problems arise, except one advisor did let slip once that a spammer had been operating on the same server, the problem is that not enough was done to stop this. The biggest one for us is that their servers, and IPs are getting blacklisted just about everywhere, so anyone who is serious about their company and its online reputation should AVOID this company like the plague. I’ve been with them for two years, simply because the time it takes to migrate and transfer everything means time the business is effectively down, however enough is enough, I’m moving now, I originally went to them because of the great price, now however they are not as cheap in comparison with some of the others. Further to that, if you look up the IP addresses being blocked from returning emails, you will see the servers are often Asian based, not UK, and quite often the English from the tech support refs is appalling. My research indicates that these guys are part of a group of hosts, so please be careful when considering any host with the name similar to webhostinguk. If you are serious about your business, then please heed my warnings. Stay clear.

“Worst service in my 10 year career”

Been developing for over 10 years now and got to work with these guys through taking over work from another developer. Worst experience of my life. Been working 8 weeks now and had to call support at least once a week. Today has been the worst though. Been on there "live" chat now for 120 minutes. Been transferred 10 times now (current tally) and still not had chance to talk to anyone. Yes it is a shared server whilst we are developing, but the intention is to go dedicated once we go live. But NO WAY with these guys. First time I have ever written a review so I guess it shows how frustrated and angry I am with their service. Keep clear of this web host. There are far better ones out there.
