We installed the Hotpoint Freezer RZA34 in Dec 2007 (£190) based on a Which? report which rated it A for energy use, good for insulation, and quiet. It was none of these things. It was very noisy, used 2x the expected electricity and failed completely in Feb 2010, confirmed by an independent specialist (£30)

It only had a 12 month warranty; now we know why. We took out a 1 yr insurance policy through Hotpoint (£165) which covered the replacement in Mar 2010 of a complete compressor... (read more)

I would not recommend this freezer if you intend to put it in the kitchen, or anywhere else in the house where you can hear it. (read more)

I couldn't agree more on your comments. I also find the noise irritating in a quite household - so much so that I'm thinking of asking the shop to exchange for another manufacturer's freezer
