Good Points: Friendly and attentive before you sign with them.

Bad Points: No service after you sign with them. No feedback after the few viewings you get with them...unless you fancy chasing them up all the time, which don't.Not fully told of their charges and the fact you will be slid on to a sole agency contract without being told that you have a choice of dual or multi agency. No mention of being bound to a 16 week contract. No return of calls. I am now in my 3rd week of waiting for a reply to 3 messages I have left for the Colchester branch manager.Mortgage advisor took 2 weeks to send paperwork out that was going to be sent that day...I left 3 messages for her in that time and have never received a reply to present day. I finally left a message for her to send the paperwork and she failed to include the actual mortgage I had said I was interested in! I will not be using them for my mortgage as I need to know that the person serving me is thorough and trustworthy.Wholly disappointed with every aspect of their service. My next call will be to the ombudsman to get released from the contract.

General comments: Almost the same experience as ktdingley with spicer mccoll.Very approachable and attentive before I signed. Almost untraceable since then. They have found me 2 viewers in 6 weeks, and never fed back to me after either....in fact, I am still waiting for someone to ring me after the 2nd viewer and that was 4 days ago!I was lied to about a buyer who wanted to view my house as soon as I signed up - that person has never materialised and the manager has failed to return my 3 messages left for him at the Colchester branch to discuss this person. I now know it was just a line to get me to sign.Manager failed to furnish me with the truth about costs - did not tell me about the VAT on top of the fees, even though I asked if £2500 was all I would end up paying (he replied YES - lies!!). I was not offered a choice of dual agency or sole agency, nor was I told I would be signing for 16 weeks with them.Utterly dire customer service. I have just been plonked on their websites and that's the marketing done. I cannot wait for my contract to end with them...shame it's wasting 4 months of my precious moving time. Please save yourself the distress and AVOID Colchester Spicer McColl.

Before signing up with them they appeared well-organised and professional. As soon as they had my property on their books they were very hard to get hold of and didn't keep me up to date on developments. When I asked questions they were abrupt and unhelpful. This nearly cost me the sale of my house.
