“NORTON A MUST FOR MALWARE”

★★★★★

written by on 22/11/2013

I had two problems: First One: Anybody heard of Aartemis.com, well I did it. Somehow or other it attached itself to my computer and I when I went on line it took over as my search engine. I tried, and others tried to remove it. So each time I went on line Aartemis took over, to get onto Google, I HAD to go on with Aarmetis to get on line and then change over. It wasn't even showing on my settings as a search engine. 2nd one. Anybody heard of Spy Alert, again I did. Don't be fooled by pop ups that state you are being watched. If you go there, they attach their selves to your computer. And then you continually get popups from them suggesting other sites to visit. Well in the end I got so frustrated with it all, and got in touch with Norton Security. Yep they removed for me. No charge. Thank you Norton.

“Slowed machine to a halt”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 27/03/2013

I'm a web site administrator with thousands of active users. I installed Norton 360 to see how my clients' browsers may have been behaving when it was installed (I had always used AVG before). Over 2 or 3 weeks, my email ground to a halt, and everything seemed slower - booting up and shutting down the PC, launching my SFTP client included. Unfortunately I never found out *why* this product slowed down my machine, but once I had removed it, everything was behaving normally again, with no delays. It's a shame, because this product did apparenently save me from a hidden threat in an EXE that I nearly downloaded from a reputable site... you just never know do you?

“NORTON 360 AND GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT.”

★★★★★

written by on 11/07/2012

I have happily purchased Norton 360 for a couple of years and am very happy with the product. This morning I found I had a problem with Norton 360, I called customer services and although I had to wait a while to speak to someone, when my call was answered the person I spoke to went out of their way to help me. By the end of the call they had completely corrected the fault and as a gesture of good will gave me an extra month cover free. I cant thank them enough for their help.I Would recommend Norton to everyone.

“Norton Sucks”

★☆☆☆☆

written by banddsemrau on 21/05/2012

I've been buying Norton security products for close to 15 years. Like an idiot, I never discovered how Norton can get away with taking advantage of people for so darned long a time. Current problem. Almot anyone would agree that having current 'definitions'is essential. Well, every time I do an update, Norton tells me that the update was not complete. My definitions were updated 523 days ago! OMG Norton, you have the nerve to tell me this after I have attempted to have you do a valid, up-to-date update. And try to tell someone at Norton about this problem? Like an email - no answer. “Don't throw away your money.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KRWagner on 08/12/2011

In 2007 I downloaded and went on auto pay with credit card. In 2009 my computer was hit by a virus and when I called Norton I was told that they could fix the problem for an additional $99.00. Then when Norton 360 failed to save my computer from a virus in October 2010 I cancelled their services. The computer pros at Office Depot recommended McAfee. I just noticed that on my credit card statement they had continued to charge my account. I spoke with billing and she brought to my attention that yes,I was charged for 2011 and also charged twice in 2009, 2010 and 2011 for the annual renewal rate. I was told by Harish R., case manager, that they would only refund the money that they had taken in the last 60 days even though he agreed that they double charged me for the last 3 years. He said it was the customer's responsibility to let the tech know that I needed to also cancel the autopay when cancelling the service. I was then told that no one above his status would speak to me on the phone and that I could have free norton services for the additional money they took but not a refund. Why would I want another norton service when they failed to protect my computer in the first place?

“norton experience”

★★★★★

written by ben7996 on 05/11/2011

I have used quite a few security products over the years, but this one I consider to be the best, and that is why i'm now using it for the 3rd year, It keeps my computer safe and I trust it to do it's job for me . it doesent slow down my computer, it does regular scans, stops spam and pop up's, does 3 p.c's It's good value for money and I feel safe using my P,C. knowing that I have good secutity installed . Easy to install with regular updates, allows you to also back up you system. I wouldn'y use anything else.

“OK heres the story... ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/12/2010

OK heres the story...

I went to visit my dad who had a dell notebook with this antivirus and he couldnt connect to his wireless network.

I spent about 3 hours updating drivers and so forth and then a message popped up saying that i needed to renew the norton subscription...

This gave me an idea, i uninstalled the program and like magic... i could connect to my dads network

They disabled the wireless card until the subscription was renewed making you think you had a virus and therefore going through with it.

Evil little trick they played to get more money, switched to kaspersky as they are much better

I WOULD RECOMMEND AVOIDING THEM AT ALL COST

“I left Norton as they did not give a good renewal...”

★★★★★

written by on 09/09/2010

I left Norton as they did not give a good renewal price. I went with BitDefender 2010 - BIG MISTAKE. I tried the free download, then nothing worked on the PC not just mine but 3 others. Found a good price for N360 and purchased. Brill back to good speed on computers all round. Norton is perfect if you have more than one PC OR SHARE WITH A FRIEND. As you get a licence for 3 users. Only bad thing is their auto renewal, they were asking £59 but got it on there shop website for £44 STRANGE. Before you buy any AV do your homework and try thier free trial BUT STAY AWAY FROM BitDefender, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“the norton 360 dissapointed me on my brothers...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 26/08/2010

the norton 360 dissapointed me on my brothers computer, its not out of date yet many harmful web links pop up, thats the main downside, also every 30 seconds or so it sometimes comes in a little box about threats being blocked, which may cause annoyance over time, but on my EI system 4115c laptop it fares better, little bro accidenly logged onto a site with 5 threats and i have had no problems apart from my laptop is a bit slow in the morning, dont know if 360's responsible, but apart from that it does many things well and is easy to use.

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 25/08/2010

I used to use Norton as it was pre-installed on a pre-built PC i used to have.
This product only proves itself when it is asked to do the job it is designed to do....detect and isolate viruses. Which I'm sorry to say it fails at terribly.
At one point i received a virus from somewhere and it bricked my PC. After many calls to Norton support i got told that they could direct me how to remove the virus but I'd have to pay for the service. The clue is in the name "Anti-Virus" meaning prevention of viruses.
Does not work, support is terrible and on top of that it is a resource hog that slowed down my mid-range PC to a crawl.
Suffice to say once i got the PC virus free i moved to Avast which is totally free, easy to use and guess what...It does what it is designed to do!

This is a difficult piece of software to use.

But today after renewal I had to contact support. This is outsources and is dreadful. I spent 2 hours getting the wrong information on their on line chat. You would be advised to go and buy somewhere else.

“I started out with Norton products in my early days of...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Peawit on 19/02/2010

I started out with Norton products in my early days of computing, but now, like soooooo many other users, have sworn off it -forever! It is easy enough to use, but then, so is a box of matches in a petrol station - and just about as useful, if you wish to harm yourself! :o
Norton stuff is invariably bloat-ware, --comes with far too many unnecessary bits and pieces, and **takes over** your pc like a schoolyard bully! And once you discover what a lot of junk it is, it is then hard to get all of the bits of cr*p it leaves all over yr pc and into the rubbish bin, -where it belongs!
It intrigues me that what was once (many years ago) a market leader in computing, then manages to gain such a *very poor reputation* ... Who makes these cr*p decisions about their products, and why are they still employed!?
I think many beginners are lured into buying Norton/Symantec stuff, and only later discover their mistakes, --such as when they find that a supposed AV / Firewall product is letting in all sorts of nasties, which wreck their machines, but then is hard to delete from their systems...
Conclusion: whatever else you do, steer clear of this blind, lumbering behemoth / dinosaur, and buy **anything** other than Norton!
Try Kaspersky 2010? (but then, that too has probs! --read my review of that on this site under the Kaspersky 2009 reviews)

“Bought this utter piece of C*** along with my Windows...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/02/2010

Bought this utter piece of C*** along with my Windows Vista Intel Pentium desktop PC from a PC Worlds store when the salesman said there is an offer for this at half price(£29!!!).

Within a couple of weeks of using this junk my PC slowed down dramatically. Not only did it not detect the viruses but you can't uninstall it because I tried but the Internet Security system still remains in my programs list wasting space!

I would definitely NOT recommend this product to anyone even if it was free and came with £100 as the frustration will soon mount up and cost you more in the long run.

Finally, I would like to thank the viruses very much for infecting my PC (lol yes I am thanking viruses) otherwise I would not have discovered how bad this "antivirus" is.

“Do NOT even think about buying this antivirus...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/01/2010

Do NOT even think about buying this antivirus software. It will slow down your system so much you will not be able to work (even on a dual processor). You will be forever rebooting your computer and wasting valuable time.

I had this software installed on 3 pcs at work and had to take it off all 3 because my employees were unable to work with it installed.

The design team should be shot for releasing such a poor and problematic software onto the market.

“I felt that I was protected with internet browsing...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 09/12/2009

I felt that I was protected with internet browsing until Norton let an older trojan onto my computer that infected every internet program, even my 3G wireless adapter. I spent 3 hours with the so called analysts who repeatedly asked the same questions. Finally they concluded that I needed to pay them additional money to help me remove the trojan even though it was not new and recognized by other anti-virus software. I found the fix on the internet without their help.
I would have liked to have known that they do not stand behind their product before purchasing. Never again.

written by andylawed on 24/09/2009

I first thought that Norton/symantec is a good buy but I was wrong. It's slows up your system, eats up alot of resources and it's too strict. When I used it, I had trouble connecting with my personal network I though it was my wi-fi but at last I figured it out coming from my Norton firewall.

I would never recommend this product. Choose something else
