I haven't used any route planner for over 4 years now, but my sat nav went crazy the other day (or all the satellites were on strike) and I had no choice but to use a Route planner to get me and the family to a holiday cottage we'd booked (some way off the beaten track!). I'd used AA years ago so I thought I'd give it another go and it was still as good as it used to be. The direction were thorough and very detailed. I don't know what we'd have do if we had gone wrong, but luckily we didn't... (read more)

AA Route planner is ok, although I'm not sure how it compares with the RAC one. For example, for the quickest route from my postcode (in Somerset) to a postcode London, one site sends you via the M4 whereas the RAC one sends you via the A303 and M3. How are we supposed to know how which is best? Also, I once noted that the AA route to a certain postcode from mine suggested a completely insane route out of my village to the main road - how do we know that other (less familiar)directions... AA route planners are very detailed which is great in theory. In practice however the details are often incorrect and have had me looking for roads that don't exist, turnung the wrong way down one way streets and even staying on the motorway longer than I should have.
This is not true if every time I have used an aa route however I am suprised at the number of times their routes have been inaccurate. (read more)

These Routes used to be excellent: They could be copied into microsoft word as a table and made easier to read by enlarging the fonts. Now when copied into word they come out as an ordinary document looking very jumbled and impossible to read on a journey in a car. please go back to your old style and format.
Prior to this I would have recommended them to a friend (read more)

Being a cabbie, the AA route planner is very handy! If I'm trying to work out the best way to get somewhere - like an airport run, in advance, then I rely on this website. It tells me the exact mileage... and I can put in as many 'VIA's' as I want. Perfect!
Thanks :o) (read more)

The AA Route Planner is my first choice when it comes to planning a journey. I fail to see the need for a Sat Nav armed with AA directions. I have used it many times and have always found it to be extremely useful and accurate. (read more)

When I worked in a previous company, any staff submitting expenses claims for mielage were required to use The AA Route Planner to calculate the recommended route, and it was on that route that expenses were calculated and ultimately paid.
Since then I've used The AA Route Planner for my own mileage claims. Although I have Microsoft AutoRoute 2005 on my PC I prefer to have a "double-check" of any route I plan at home, especially as The AA is inevitably going to be more up-to-date, especially... (read more)

A excellent route finder. I put two post codes in the route finder and received a easy to understand route. It may be a route I had never taken but it was still a good route. A route I would like to try.
Insurance quotes are also available on this site as well as credit. As most cars are bought on credit it seems a good idea and credit cards are needed to by petrol now a days? Cashing in on any thing they can the AA does not miss a trick.
Breakdown membership is also offered and... (read more)
