I done the king of the road course with sterling , class 2 at Darlington 2nd time, failed the first due to nerves, but the training was first class . Then did my class 1 at leeds/skipton and passed first time . Yes I saw a lot of bad comments on the net after I booked the course but I did the course within 8 mounth's of booking and the extra insurance for the wagon is opptional, you dont have to take it out. Both wagons were easy to drive regarding gears and handeling and I would recommend to anyone this course. When I was reading the reveiw's I felt like I had just chucked my money away and was expecting the worst but to get the 2 licences for the price of one was the best thing I have done . Go for it ...

I took my lessons from sterling lgv training Manchester container base at Trafford Park this week with a guy who knows his stuff and drums it into you to the point you can hear what he is saying to you when your on your test allthough hes not there. I took my test from Liverpool test centre which is based near a very busy tip so there are lots of wagons shooting around the lanes near the test centre whilst you are on your test. This is not an easy thing to pass but allthough you only end up with ...

Did my class C rigid training with Sterling LGV in Nottingham from 6th through to the 9th July.
Instructor was first class and vehicle was 57 plate in very good condition, good to drive.
    Passed my test first time.
I did read alot of controversial comments about Sterling LGV on some forums and did have a few telephone conversations with Sterling.
They reassured me and was true to word that the training and vehicle would be of a high standard.
The meeting place at Nottingham was at proper Iveco de ...

i think sterling are rubbish, poor training , no training centres, people who teach have no qualifactions extra like driving instruotor, no training centres, ho yes the public road!!

hidden insurance charges and more, and no interview as promise, and one fact they failed to mention is the insurance companies that cover firms lorries, will charge up to nine thousand for new driver, hence the firms will not consieder any new drivers till had licence a year, sterling can say theres lorries on th ...

Passed on the second attempt ( unfortunatley i suffer extremley bad pre-test jitters) for class 2 from the Sterling LGV Training Nottingham depot. I found the training to by spot-on, rather than breathe down your neck you were allowed to drive and if a fault occured advice was offered for the correct procedure. I found this better than a running commentry which can have a negative affect when the test comes around as your constantly left wondering if your taking the correct action during the tes ...

i did my class 2 with sterling and was supposed to have done my 1 with them. it took 2 attempts 2 pass my test due to problems with the lorry and lack of training. having been a 7.5 driver for ten years i needed help getting the bad habits out. i didnt get that. anyway after failing the " free retest" had more extra charges than you can imagine. then when it came 2 class1 it turns out they didnt have an artic they have a draw barwhen i complained how different they are to drive the boss of the c ...

1st of all training only last 3 days taking the test on the 4th day. You have to train with a second trainee so u do driving in turns. If u fail the 1st time sterling charges u £400 for retest. When u pass u have to take CPC course to move on to C+E which is impossible for me. It is like a law book. If i was clever enough to do that course i wouldnt be going for a lorry licence. Nobody explained to me what CPC was. If they did there is no way i would train with sterling! Now i called and ...

My honest advice would be to stay away from Sterling LGV Training. They have absolutely no etiquette. They got me with their special offer of £1295 for class 1 and class 2 combined. It's a big rip off as you have to do a CPC course after passing the class 2 otherwise you cant proceed with the class 1. You have to revise a book of 400 pages and the exams are held every 3 months, not ideal when the company only gives you 1 year to complete the class 2 and class 1. So in effect, they know wh ...

sterling completely messed my course up, had no driving on the first day, instructors were all uptight just a complete nightmare and the office staff had no idea how to run theses courses and how to speak to clients who have paid there money, infact there was one particular office staff that was very rude and unhelpful.
told to meet every morning at 7.50 we never started course until 8.30 -8.45 so there was near enough another hour wasted.
you dont get four days training at all your course is th ...

Like most things I suppose do your research, at the time didn't seem to be many offering LGV training then once I'd booked everywhere, Sterling need to live upto there claims a little more.

Firstly the pass insurance still costs £153'ish test/ administration fees, Secondly I passed my test on the 3rd December as today haven't had any communication whatsoever from Sterling LGV?

Sterling gave me the impression that they were the No 1 school for truckers. I was very disappointed with the overall result. Firstly the truck I was on had problems with it that never seemed to be fixed properly. Also I don;t remember Sterling telling me that this CPC had to be taken before you even were allowed to get onto a class 1. I paid for the king of the road package deal. I passed my class 2 but then was sent a thick book of about 400 pages to read & study about CPC. They never told me ...

Instructors are Genuine, I think Sterling LGV Training has a Recruitment Agency feel to it, and doesn't seem to genuinely care as such, but I had no real problems with them. I passed my class 2 with the 'King of the Road' package. You DO have to pass the National CPC to proceed to the Class 1. The National CPC is hard from what I can make out, and 4 exams only per year, the exam fees are £100 I think. I have a 430 page book and some PDF's sent from Sterling as a guide.
