Quoted Eur 26.67 on the Voucher, which made it the cheapest offer by far on searches. This is meaningless. They have billed GBP 104 !!! Apparently Insurance is NOT included as implied on the website. Car was delivered with one third full fuel tank and returned with one quarter full and apparently i have been charged for half a tank at a minimum charge of Eur 80. I do not believe a full tank would have cost that. Not recommended. Rather stick with the bigger names and know what you are getting. (read more)

You were fortunate. My most recent rental with DYS involved a payment for fuel (petrol for Ford Fiesta) at Alicante airport of 139 euros. Little point in having a cheap rental price if you are subsequently hammered for fuel. Also, as is often the case with rental fuel, the tank was 'virtually' full in the sense that the needle moved off the 'full' notation within a few kms of the airport. Nevertheless, we will book further rentals with DYS providing we can organise this on a full to full basis.

You have a full/full fuel policy filter when searching for cars. I chose that option and then booked one of the cars. This way you don't have to pay anything for fuel if you return full. Which I did.

I agree. DoYouSpain is not telling the truth and you get a lot of surprise when finalling taking the car and being told that you have to pay a lot of extras. It happend to me recently on the Canary Islands getting an extras charge from Europcar for a full fuel tank of 85 Euros for a car which has a tank of only 35 litres capacity and at the local price of 1,09 Euros/litre. You are asked to return the car with an empty (??) tank and that makes an extra benifit.
I was also asked to pay extra for assistance on the road which I denied telling them that I leave the car where it is should there be a breakdown due to technical failure.

All the above comments are truthful and factual.
You reply to this comment quickly enough, but you cannot be bothered to reply to my message sent via your website hence I have posted on this website so others may be aware of the poor service provided by Advantage or as you say Hertz.
I was not prepared to stay in the stuffy underground garage any longer than the 1 hr 20 minutes I had already spent waiting for a car - that is far too long to get a hire car.
You state good service - how long do you consider I have to wait before you call it BAD service ??
I now hope that you take my comments seriously and that they are addressed in a proper manner by management of whichever car hire company and that you reply in the proper manner to the message sent via your website.
Thank you.

There is a spurious debit in favour of Hertz Advantage Spain in the sum of £36.05 - suffice to say I am disputing this with my credit card provider.
Further the email sent to Do You Spain via their website still remains unanswered.
I have clearly told them I am not seeking compensation but a proper apology and confirmation it will not happen again from Hertz Advantage.
Thats it for now - I will not comment on this again but suffice to say I will not use Advantage again and Do You Spain need to sharpen their act if they do not wish to receive derogatory feedback from the companies they do business with.

I do not understand where you get "customers own doing" . I have been to Spain a number of times and have always used car hire companies with no problems...but this DoYouSpain set up is poor and Record Car Hire just make the experience worst. The cars used were tatty with very high mileage and I am still waiting for some response from the two companies. Most of the comments on here are very negative and I can only include myself amongst them.
I am pleased you have had a good experience but I feel you are one of a few.
Written on: 18/10/2012
My comment as to customers own doing refers to mistakes the customer themselves make and blame others, yes i can see your point over a tatty car and high milage there should be be no need for that & i hope you get a satisfactory conclusion, As i say i have never had a bad result yet and long may it continue ( 12 hires or more ) mainly at Almeria & Alicante i also wonder that DYS is only an agent for the main car hire companies, the ones you can book direct anyway so do you think at busy times these companies only give DYS customers the rubbish cars, perhaps someone has the answer, But i will use again with out a second thought, + Man U for the league/cup

Booked a car. Received two vouchers for the same vehicle. Requested an update on my booking, and received a cancellation notification. Did they read my email, I think not. The cancellation email was sent on the 20th of September. It is now the 4th of October, and still no returned money. Several emails sent for an update, with no response. Whether I receive my money within the next week I would not recommend this company. I would not even gave a star in the case. (read more)

I recently hired a car with DoYouSpain (I had used them previously & they were very good .... but this was a few years ago. When we received our pre paid voucher I emailed them & queried whether all their hire companies levied an 'out of hours' charge. The reply I had made no reference to my query but .... offered special rates on hotels (I did not need accommodation). On our arrival at Malaga we joined a queue of about 4 other people (so hardly out of hours - the desk was manned by 2... (read more)

Yes, car hire abroad is now becoming something of a mine field. Using local firms is good if you are not paying a hefty taxi bill to get there and back to the airport, as they usually don't have a facility whereby you can return it other than to the address at which you picked it up from. Taxis for tourists can take advantage and often do. It is important to understand what you are paying for (and do check to see if the car hire company are located on the airport site or how far away? The charges for a full tank of petrol are getting more than a little inflated now. Very often when you book the car, it is only the rental price (not including the fuel cost - AND WATCH out for the additional levy for choosing or being given a diesel vehicle; usually another 4-5 euros /day) for which you are paying. If you pay by a debit card rather then a credit card, then you will be charged an extra 'admin' fee of around 40 euros - so always aim to pay by credit card. The Car Hire company will try and sell you or charge you for additional extra insurance cover which you are quite at liberty to decline. But do make sure you have a good look around the car to ensure that any damage or marks are properly notified on your documentation otherwise you will be leaving yourself open - pay particular attention to body work, and light fittings and mouldings attached to the bodywork (as these can be very expensive when charged for). Finally, if you are looking to book a car for up to 3 days, most Car rental companies will now refund you for unused fuel or expect you to return the car with a full tank, in which case they simply refund the charge they made for fuel when you picked the car up - But check before you book. The only company I know of that operates a full to full fuel policy over and beyond the 3 day hire period is Sol-Mar - I have never been able to book through their website for some reason it always gets stuck at check out. But if you ring them directly and book , this is fine.- but check that you are not picking up or returning outside of their standard hours as there will be an additional expense of between 30-40 euros Sol-Mar are not everywhere, and are usually located close to but not on the airports so you also need to factor in a shuttle bus transfer into your timings. Hope this helps
