Lemme tell you something... Club Penguin is HORRIBLE and the reason why it's horrible is because it's pay to have fun.The reason why I started to play it (for like 30 minutes) is because that my friend told me that it was pretty fun... After much pestering, we signed up our little boy (then aged 6) to Club Penguin and it wasn't really all that great. Previously, he'd been playing on both Moshi Monsters and Bin Weevils, both of which he'd found really engrossing, so we'd assumed he'd love Club Penguin. Club penguin is fabulous because there is famous penguins and you get stamps and im glad you dont get a level because if you play binweevils you have to be on a certain level to buy stuff. club penguin is such a problem child, especially with ie9 (beta).
it doesn't work as well as it has in the past.
on the other hand, the game is really good.
as a fellow penguin myself, it is fun and there is loads to see and do(mostly members).
the most dissapointing part about it is the fact is you need to be a paying member to access all of it, only a few things are for free members.
otherwise a really worthwhile game suitable for all ages.

My sons love Club Penguin. I initially thought it was great as I could set the timer to limit the time they would be able to sneak off quietly and use it when I wasn't aware! However, the timer does not seem to be working and although I set a limit of 2 hours, they are only able to play for 30 minutes before being logged off. My boys used Club Penguin for a while and grew bored with it. I tried to cancel the paid, monthly membership but their site would not allow me to do so. I sent an email to their customer service department, but my credit card was charged again. I sent another email asking for a credit because they did not cancel the membership as I requested. They refused to take care of the credit. I sent another emai, and they refused again. I sent yet another email, but so far nothing has been done.... (read more)

In Club Penguin there are fun minigames games, swearing is not allowed. You are not allowed to give personal information, and it is very kid-friendly. You can earn mone by playing minigames, and then buy clothes and other stuff for your penguin. I'm not a member, so there isn't much I can buy. However, my friends are and they like it. It is more fun to be a member, but it is still lots of fun without being one.

I would honestly recommend any Parent that wants their kids to make friends online and get involved with social networking to use Club Penguin over any other site.
I understand the inevitable worry, however I would advise to just chat to your children about any weird content that they might read and come straight to you... and for the first few days sit with them and see how it goes (great for spending time with them as). I personally have not experienced any bad language or rude suggestion's...

I found this review unhelpful because...I really don't see why any parent would WANT their child to get involved with social networking. That should be done with real people face to face, whilst playing and exercising. Social Networking, on any site, is far too risky in my opinion. If "bad people" looked or sounded like "bad people" when they were on site we would all know... the point is that they are VERY good at pretending to be of no risk.
