Well having owned the Nokia N96 for just under one year I would describe the phone as a great alternative for someone who does not like touch screen phones.

Lets start with the good points, the camera is superb and is only made better by the latest firmware update. The operating system(although sometimes slow) is very flexible and allows alot of different software and applications to be installed like Google maps and MSN Messenger.
The built is GPS is fantastic, the navigation is very clear and it obtains a GPS lock very quickly, although the downside is you only get 3 months for free and then after that you have to pay.

Now onto the negatives, the main one being the dreadful battery life. Although greatly improved on its predecessor the N96 quickly uses its battery life when talking or using most applications. I usually charge the phone every 2 or 3 days. Another bad point the phone is reliability, the phone often hangs or crashes with the only way to reset it being to take out the battery.

Overall I would recommend the N96 to people looking for a good smart phone. Just make sure you check for the latest firmware updates for the phone as they greatly improve its speed and performance.

I would not recommend the Nokia N96 fone to anybody!!!
Personly i hate this fone, it drives me up the wall and i really cant wait to get rid of it. The only good thing with this fone is the camera, when it works, the camera dosent like to work if the fone heats up, or it will give a error message every now and then. Now for the things thats not quite so great about the fone. Firstly i owned the N95 before this, and the fone is basicly the same just with a different look. This fone loves to freez ...

the nokia n96 is so slow and it freezes all the time. I wouldn't recommend this and really can't wait to get rid of it. The camera is good, though, better than my 8mp on my LG phone

Could not wait to get my hands on the Nokia N96 ... What a let down.
I have changed it three times but still the same ... Slow, freezes constantly and battery life is terrible. In the photo menu, pictures take an eternity to appear and if you forget to canx menus the whole thing slows down. Speakers are very tinny and sound is average to say the least. Strongly recommend you forget it., believe me, I am doing you a favour.

The Nokia N96 could be a great phone. Loads of features. Big range of apps - QuickOffice very useful, iPlayer potentially great. Very good screen for video and large memory. Music player very handy.
But really buggy with Vodafone firmware. Faults in bluetooth, and occasionally crashes.

I owned a Nokia N96 for 3 months and although I am quite technically minded, this was by far the most unreliable Nokia phone I have ever had the dis-pleasure to own. Rather than being an all-singing-all-dancing SMART phone it simply did not work effectively i.e. constantly crashing, poor battery life, abysmal reception and very slow.

I have always owned Nokia phones, but come on Nokia at least get the basics right.

I have since changed to a Nokia E51 which is fantastic.

It is a shame that the Nokia N96 phone is disappointing as there is not much out there which is better than the N95 in terms of Nokia. I rally like Nokia but feel they have let themselves down. I was really looking forward to this phone and was told that all the glitches had been rectified which was does not appear to be the case. The phone does not like anyone with fast fingers and seems to ponder off tasks set. Not the phone for me.

Easy to read, good display... Not good value for money at all though for me. Bring back the 6310i please. My N96 phone simply adores locking up/ freezing. Cannot handle any demanding applications. Battery life very inadequate for a phone in this category. Will not deal with, or even consider bluetooth jobs. On my second N96 within 8 weeks, which is currently in for repair.

This phone looks good and has great options with a beautiful camera and music player.
But there is a downside. The phone is slow and sometimes i have to take out the battery because it doesn't do anything anymore.
The navigation key doesn't really work good enough.
For average users the battery will be good enough. I have to charge it every two days. But I thinks that's no problem.

The N96 appears to have a generic software fault in that when listening to music on headphones and a text is received the phone shuts down. This was exactly the same on all 4 handsets I received.

They appear to have software faults that are not fixed by the standard update from Nokia.

Orederd this direct from Nokia, pre-released at a whopping £535.
Worst £535 I have ever spent, the phone appears to be un-tested with so many glitches.
At first glance, loads of useful applications for the world wide traveller.
Constantly locks up / freezes. Becomes unusable if asked to do anything.

    It is a masterpiece
This is on amazing phone. If the battery life is not that durable one must understand that this phone can do every thing a PC can do and sometimes ever better... Well recommend Nokia N96.

Totally unacceptable stability for a high end phone. If multi tasking apps the phone WILL lock up without exception!
When used with blue tooth head set then the situation is worse.
Nokia are unhelpful in providing answers as to why their firmware update doesn't work on unbranded UK phones, despite acknowledging these faults exist.

This isn't a case of a bad handset. I've exchanged it four times due to various faults. All of them would lock when blue tooth used.

    I was a big fan of the N95 and r ...
