    Good Points: Having now used the upholstery/stair appliance the results were as for the main carpet. Good general cleaning and water extraction; spot treatment/steam recommended for stubborn areas.


    Bad Points: The trigger of the applicator catches on the tread if held too low when extracting water, which puts more water into the area being cleared.


    General comments: If used 3 to 4 times a year this is a good all round cleaner. If on the other hand you've allowed the traffic to build up, go and rent an industrial cleaner for a couple of days. This will then give you about a year to save up for the Vax.

    If you have badly soiled carpets this machine is not for you. I used a commercial one a few years ago and the results were very good. This machine has the benefit of being compact for storage, easy to assemble and use. I think the idea is that you use it 3 to 4 times a year. On the carpets I tested the results were however very acceptable. I didn't use the pre spot, and had I done so the results may well have been better.
