“No longer fit for purpose”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Mikesears on 05/10/2017

With the help of another animal lover I have been trying to help a abused dog. The RSPCA have been disinterested and totally useless, they have put obstacles in our way when all that is needed is a telephone call. I have donated to the society on a monthly basis for many years and I now feel foolish for doing so, some of the officers at the sharp end do great work but they are led by people who have no interest in animal welfare only in obtaining money from the public on the pretence of putting the animals first. It is disgraceful that the RSPCA has sunk so low, all the time I argue with them the poor dog that we are concerned about is being mistreated and we are powerless. The UK deserves better than the RSPCA, shame on them.

“Emergency Hotline - Dont Care”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 23/02/2014

I reluctantly phoned the hotline today about a horse I see daily whose been stood in a field, with no apparent shelter, water or food for weeks. I tried to alert the RSPCA to it thinking they'd investigate and make sure it was ok, but the male operator didn't want to know. unbeknown to me the emphasis is on us to prove what's wrong with it I was asked "can you see its bones?" "if its lived in this field for months why is it still alive?". conveniently he refused to give his name or do anything further and actually hung up on me. he was rude, uncaring and totally uninterested. I'm totally amazed the RSP CA ever prosecute anyone if that is their attitude.

never take a ferrel or semmie ferrel cat to the rspca, in my apinion there all about money.i,v just had a stray collected by the rspca to be cleaned up,1 houre later i got a call to say their putting the cat to sleep, reason they told me, the cat has a problem with its teeth and a lump on the roof of its mouth,(it may have cat aids)? and its breath smells a little, so it may have a problem with an organ, the rspca says it not just about money but it may have on going problems which would mean recatching the cat in future,in my apinion how can you play with an animals life by guessing without any tests? to me it was all about money, allthough the rspca said it was the vets desission and he cant over rule her, they do discuss things first,i,v been left feeling upset bitter and feelling guilty, think twice then think again before calling thr r,s,p,c,a the vets are based near lowfell called premier or somthing on them lines.

“they don't care”

★☆☆☆☆

written by firebyrd on 14/06/2013

I would never donate to the RSPCA, we found some kittens once and rang them to find them homes, we have no room they told us but if you bring them to your local office we will arrange to humanely put them down. Today I called into Pets At Home where the RSPCA have a permanently manned office. Many of the animals were overcrowded and a number of them had no food. I asked the RSPCA Officer who was sat there doing nothing why these animals had no food at all. Nothing to do with me she said it's Pets at Home you need to see. she seemed oblivious to the fact these animals were crowded and had no food neither was she interested. I love animals but I would NEVER donate to this organization of which the Queen is Patron of yet we all know her and her family hunt grouse, foxes etc for sport and the founder of the RSPCA was a fox hunter himself this says very little for them in my books.
