Went to Alexander's for lunch and the food is absolutely fantastic - clearly cooked by a very talented chef. Food was reasonably priced and portions were spot on. All of my family enjoyed their courses. However the service could be better and the menu is somewhat limited especially when catering for a member of the family who is a vegetarian. (read more)

Having used Alexanders many times for dinner, breakfast or just a coffee we are always happy with the quality and value. A year ago Sandy and his team catered at our local village hall for over 100 locals and French visitors from our twinned village. It was excellent and we recently had no hesitation in asking he and Nicola to provide 'Afternoon Tea' for my wife's milestone birthday party in our garden. 90 guests were well catered for with Pimm's and bubbly plus canapes, sandwiches, home... what a pity he does not follow through with all his clients. he is rude, unprofessional, has staff untrained. Perhaps they should all take a leaf out of Nicolas book.Would never recommend. Already advised friends and family not to go there. Bad news travels fast. What goes around comes around.

The problem I have writing this review is basically where to start, I cant compliment this restaraunt enough. As I work on the Carlton Centre I have become a regular at Alexanders, wether it be for coffee, lunch, or an evening meal. The standards set by the owner Sandy are very high and in my opinion they never faulter. The staff are always very efficient, helpful and most of all friendly, no matter when I go I always recieve a warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and there is always... (read more)

Waitress was a bit scruffy but pleasant enough.
Starters limited if you don't like pate or fish. Main course could have been done with being hotter but was still nice and very flavoursome. Chef obviously knows his stuff.

We have become regulars at Alexander's and although we love eating out at various restaurants around Lincoln we always come back to Alexander's where we are guaranteed high quality food in a relaxed atmosphere. We are always well looked after and leave feeling we've had a great night. Thanks Sandy and co. We will return soon! (read more)

As a regular to Alexanders with only living round the corner, we decided to book my sons christening meal here knowing the delicious food, good service and excellent value for money and the relaxed atmosphere Alexanders has.
We had the venue to ourselves as promised from around 3:30pm until around 8pm at no extra charge...all our guests (24 in total) dined for £10 per head for a 3 course meal given a choice of starters, main and dessert! Although service was a little slow at first that was...

I feel the need to respont to the review from the west country person who attended a August bank holiday private party.
I am shocked at the comments.
The restaurant was booked for a private buffet function that weekend for the grand total of £300. This was for sole use of the restaurant provision of staff and buffet on a Sunday afternoon.
They had a whole dressed salmon b and ham eef joints and various fresh made salads and bread.
I prepared the food myself and take great pride in my...

A welcoming atmosphere, Alexanders serves a mean pancake, and Scottish night back in January was no disappointment: we were squeezed in even though the event was fully booked ahead of the weekend. Love the settees and informal layout, and the artwork (who is the artist?) (read more)

At Alexanders Lincoln, the food was good, the large chips great, the waiting staff were also nice and friendly. My son is only 1 yrs old and my friends child almost 2. The waitresses were lovely and provided us with high chairs, they also moved other chairs out so we could all fit round one table without getting in anyone elses way. We ordered food for ourselves and although my friend had brought a sandwich for her child (due to no offering of childrens meals) we still bought a sandwich for... (read more)

Nice friendly atmosphere, good food (especially the chunky home cooked chips mmmm - would go back again just for those!) Nice decor, great place for an evening meal. Not 100% child friendly, but the staff will accommodate you and they do have high chairs. All in all a great night out! (read more)

We felt obliged to respond to the review dated 15 january 2008.
These are not comments i recognise in all my visits. Good cooked with skill and passion. Service has always been attentive and friendly.
The owner tells us with some pride that over 1000 customers a week including many regulars come to enjoy simple coffee through to a full meal in the evening.
It is true that they close some evenings but the times are clearly sited on the door. I understand that as the summer approaches the...

We have used Alexanders many many times for coffees and full dining experiences. Never disappointing and regularly batting well above their weight they have a skill and passion in the kitchen which is fantastic to see in these days of mediocrity. Service is of a high standard with the staff often going out of there way to assist. The owner takes pride in telling us he has over 1000 customers a week and hundreds of regulars. It is true that they shut some evenings during the winter but times... (read more)

At best the business could be a thriving day time cafe. We wanted an evening meal but didn't have any success when trying Alexanders. They have a Beat the clock deal but basically you have to Beat the clock to even get an evening meal at all as this business frequently appears to be shut by 5pm and cannot accommodate those who want to go for a meal 'off the cuff' from 6 or 7pm onwards.
