“Not as easy to hit as other irons I have tried, but...”

Not as easy to hit as other irons I have tried, but not as hard as some. Kind of middle of the pack. Feel of the club is great. Makes me feel like I'm really swinging the club great when I hit it well, but tells me I mis-hit and how I did it when I hit it wrong. Great club for the money. I really like the Wilson Staff Ci7 irons Big increase in length. Immediate feedback on shot.

Only been playing steady golf about 1.5 years, with 17 handicap. These clubs blow away my old Adams which were still pretty good clubs and still adjusting to the much longer distance. Probably at least 1, if not 2 clubs longer. Would highly recommend to low to mid handicappers, especially for the price.

“I tried all of the sample clubs the PGA Superstore,...”

★★★★☆

written by Mrjackalope on 06/07/2008

I tried all of the sample clubs the PGA Superstore, Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy and Edwin Watts had. Cleveland, Adams, Cobra, Callaway, Nike, Mizuno, Bridgestone and Nickent. I was at the point of deciding between the Cobra FPII ' s and the Callaway X20 ' s.

During this fretting period I began re reading the Golf Digest and Golf Magazine club reviews. I had ignored what Golf Magazine rated as the #1 game improvement iron: The Wilson Pro Staff Di7.

Wilson is what we played with when we were little boys! Only Edwin Watts stocked these irons in my area (Now all stores carry them.) I tried them out and was really surprised and how the felt, hit and looked. Not too big of head and gave me the right launch angle with backspin under 4,900rpm. I am used to 5,200-5,400 which is the reason my ball flight takes off looking good like it has potential then suddenly drops out of the sky.

I compared the Cobra II, Callaway X20 and the Wilson for about 2-hours late one day. I chose the Wilson Di7 irons because even when I was exhausted, I could still get good results from the Di7 irons.

I thought I should go to Graphite but too many fitters said I should wait another few years. The iron shafts really feel better in every sense.

Now that I have played them a few rounds I am amazed how much farther I hit them and how workable they are compared to my old irons (Snake Eyes FMC01). My HC index of 17 will soon come down playing these irons and sheding a few bad habits.

If you are in the market for new irons you should not pass up an opportunity of hitting these clubs.

“Played the Ping G5 prior to these after finally giving...”

★★★★☆

written by Chaser184 on 09/06/2008

Played the Ping G5 prior to these after finally giving up the players clubs (Titleist 735). Needed something to give me some help when the swing wasn't quite right and the G5's did a good job, but because of the extreme offset, was getting too much help to the left side of the fairway. These Wilson's fit the bill with the lesser offset.

These CI7's are extremely long (but are a little over in standard length and the lofts are bent a touch stronger). They provide good, solid feedback, so you know where you struck the ball. These have provided me with the confidence that I can now stick the green on approach shots and they will hold. I;m not a great player, but do okay on occasion (playing to about a 15 right now) - I feel these clubs will take me to the next level and don't see the need to shop any further.

Do yourself a favor - don't take my word for it, go find a demo day and try these out. You will be surprised. They won't be for everyone, but I think they will start making their way into a few more bags this summer.

As for the 8 rating - nothing is perfect and without a sufficient amount of rounds under my belt, I can't give them that type of score - but anticipate that these will be clubs that I continue to recommend to those who might ask.
