Good Points: Stabilized images with all lenses, Carl Zeiss exclusive lens line up, perfect feel and weight with optional vertical grip that doubles control layout, long battery life, optional flash such as Sony 58AM and solid build quality. Version 4 firmware makes it into a whole new camera.

Bad Points: None so far after 1 full year owning two of them. Sony could have updated, or even shipped them initially with an equivalent of version 4 firmware.

General comments: This camera is an all out excellent value. I use two for professional work along with an array of Carl Zeiss, Sigma and Tamron lenses. If you have other systems, then save money and stick with them, but if you have the money and lack brand loyalty, you would not be disappointed one bit with the Sony A700 dslr.

I bought the Sony D-SLR A700 for £699.00 from Cameraworld in Chelmsford. I bought it to replace my superb Minolta 7D . Wow what a Camera right from the handling, to the Auto Focus. Plus the build quality. All are superb!. Plus i am using all my old A Mount Minolta Lens. All are working great with the body. If you are thinking of buying a DSLR don't just go for other brands because of there Names. This Truly is a Superb piece of Kit!!.

The Sony D-SLR A700 is a lovely camera, bought as an upgrade to the old Minolta 7D. Builds/improves on the Minolta's strengths in every area except the menu system is slightly more unwieldly although the quick access joystick compensates for this. Only real problems are with it playing second fiddle to Canon/Nikon and the comparative immaturity/cost of the Sony D-SLR brand range. But these are not faults with the camera itself which is a gem and knocks spots off the competition in several key ...
