Good Points: Actual building work and end product was ok.

Bad Points: Very bad administration, project management and customer service.

General comments: Full of promises that turn to dust once the job is started. We're still struggling to get a completion certificate 3 years after the job was completed (actually the job was never completed in our eyes, but once they've been paid, they're off - never to be seen again).

Alternative Timber were friendly, professional and at reasonable cost. Excellent quality of double glazed windows and patio doors so much so we had them fit a new patio door at our new house. Friends and other tradesmen have admired the quality of workmanship.
Joiners were excellent, good quality finish and cleared up after themselves.
I would recommend this company for double glazing above all the others any day.

I have to say in Alternative Timbers defense that we are still enjoying making use of our fantastic conservatory which was professionally built by them in 2004. nothing was too much trouble for them and from design to completion we always found them to be attentive, professional and thoughtful during and after the build. We have recommended them to others who I believe are equally delighted with their new conservatory.

I would not use this company ever again or recommend them to anyone. Any complaints are dismissed as 'timewasting', get everything in writing and try to hold back money until happy with with the job. I complained to Fife Trading Standards and the ASA about this company.
