Good Points: Enjoyable
Bad Points: The choice of Mickey over Marley!
General comments: Albeit I enjoyed this book, on the whole when I was reading it, I was disgusted and sickened by one or two things. To leave a dog clawing at a wall until blood is running from his paws is unforgiveable. Furthermore, for the author, who suppsedly loves this animal, to go on holiday to "DISNEYLAND" when his "best friend" is knocking on heaven's door is something I would find difficult to live with. "Poor old Marley!" is all I can say. He was living his last few days when he was checked into the local vets while his masters went to see Mickey Mouse. I wonder if the author realises Mickey isn't real and would have still been there if he, and his family, had given Marley the time he needed!!!! As it happens the author must be laughing all the way to The Magic Castle as I have seen special deluxe editions, Marley Kids' editions, Other Marley Stories, presumably emailed to The Philadelphia Enquirer and so on. This could have been such a wonderful story but I was left in search of the happy ending. A trip to the fun fair while the dog dies doesn't do it for me.

Marley & Me is very easy reading. Any dog lover will laugh aloud at the antics of Marley - it's written in a style whereby you can picture the action, and believe it happened just as Grogan describes it.
