Good Points: Extremely quick to heat up water - can be used for hot water only instead of kettle. Easy to operate - don;t have to keep referring to the instructions. Looks very modern and different colours available to suit deco. Doesn't take up too mcuh space on worktop Coffee pods mean no need to measure out amount needed. Large variety of drinks available including hot chocolate, latte, cappuchino and more. Makes coffee shop standard coffees. Quiet when in operation.
Bad Points: Coffee pods can be confusing - need two different pods for milky coffees and until used to this can be difficult to identify. Instructions show how to make various drinks based on the cups sold by Nescafe - if not using these a bit of guesswork involved at first. Pods are more expensive than normal coffee but much nicer. Pods not available in smaller shops.
General comments: I have never really thought I would benefit from a coffee machine before and was apprehensive before getting this Krups Nescafe Dolce Gusto about the amount of hassle making the drinks would involve but I can honestly say that it is very nearly as easy as making a cup of instant and the taste is so much better.
You can make lots of different drinks: cappuchino, normal black coffee, hot chocolate, espresso, caffe lungo, mocha, latte or even a cappuchino ice. It really tastes like coffee shop coffee and has impressed guests when I list their options for after dinner coffee!
The pods are so easy to use - they just click into a little holder which slots into the machine. The only confusing aspect is the drinks where you need more than one pod (one for milk and one for coffee) as the only difference between the pods is the colour of the bottom part, the label is exactly the same. Also, the instructions show you the proportion of milk to coffee based on the nescafe cups you can buy and if you are using your own it means a bit of guesswork.
The machine heats up in less time than it takes to boil the kettle (in fact, I have used it to make tea as it dispenses hot water alone also). It is very quiet when you are using it and there is very little mess to clean up afterwards, all the parts which need cleaning are easily detachable. The drip tray is adjustable so you can use different size cups.
All in all, I would definately recommend this - it looks really cool in the kitchen as well and you can choose a colour to suit your decor. I have been very surprised at how much I have used it already.
