Good Points: Glossy brochures, established reputation for being THE specialist on Santa Lapland holidays.
Bad Points: Poor communication, behaving like a normal tour operator.
General comments: The only request made when booking a year ago was, if you had the choice and it wasn't about price where would you go? On that basis we ended up on the christmas break to Salla.
Charter flight choices were not in my opinion the best of the best as far as "quality expierience" went and for the money £1300 per day I was not expecting budget airlines. The plane we came back on was 18 years old and there were older planes being used. Flights out were five hours late, maybe not directly operators fault but when you charter your own planes you would expect some agreement on acceptable delays to providing fleet for your use especially when the holiday duration is a)so short, b) so expensive, especially as other uk flight was similarly delayed and last year apparently there was a 12 hour delay. Company has never replied to my emails I was told customer service employee only works part time from home, I suppose you could read that both ways!
Hotel accomodation in Salla was not child friendly, food was not served at night until 7.00pm, was school dinner style childrens choice revolved around chicken nuggets and chips all families we spoke to said that was too late for their children to eat.
Accomodation described as a log cabin was in fact a chalet with stairs that had a sharper angle of attack than a loft ladder, completely unusable for kids and any adult with the slightest of balance issues! Even the toilet roll was that cheap rough stuff, am I setting the tone?
Daily activities were very good and plenty of staff. Santa was a bit pressed for time, kids got maybe five minutes and then hearded out! but he was nice! But budget carriers and a hotel not the child haven we were expecting.
Overall this company solds itself on a unique santa expierience for children, but i saw nothing that i don't think any of the larger tour operators who now sell lapland couldn't provide to at least the same standard and probably for less and you would at least have a consistency of airline service. The whole holiday felt to me overpriced, considering the above and i wish I had booked with a large tour operator.
