“Customer Service”

Written on: 28/06/2016 by Sceptical1 (1 review written)

I have been a customer of Interwctive Investor for many years and have contacted their Customer Service operation on several occasions. The response time is generally good and, while I hade a major issue last year with the slow delivery of a Tax Voucher, this year the TV for 2015-16 was available by 19 June. Well done, very pleased with this service… Read Full Review

“Great Help from Customer Service”

Written on: 22/06/2016 by MichaelAnthonyClarke28 (1 review written)

I contacted III and asked for help is setting up a WRAP account, they were most helpful and gave me a breakdown of there costs and the details on how to open an account. I had never done this before and had relied on Financial Adviser's, however the teams help in all matter, even when I got my password mixed up was so helpful. My investments are easy to follow and access, better than I could hope for. The only problem is the secure massaging, am not always able to read them when I open after… Read Full Review

“inexpensive and effective”

Written on: 20/06/2016 by 106Glass (1 review written)

Been with them since 2003. It's cheap and it works just fine. The customer service is limited and slow but they will respond to problems and resolve them. Only issues I have had are that sometimes the quarterly billing uses money from dividends that is temporarily sitting in the account pending reinvestment(instead of charging your debit card) and then it permanently stops the reinvestment. III can't or won't rectify the situation- very annoying… Read Full Review

“Good customer service”

I've been with ii for a few years and haven't been doing much on my account recently. I do resent the quarterly fee. However I have always found customer service to be good. Today I had to make a call and the support was excellent… Read Full Review

“A First Class Service”

Written on: 13/06/2016 by JMCass (2 reviews written)

I have been using Interactive Investor for investing in stocks and shares for 8 years. The website is excellent; it is easy to find information about securities and funds and many funds are available with a big discount on the initial investment. Trading is very straightforward and holdings, statements, trading records etc. are instantly available online and very clearly laid out. The cost is very competitive at £10 per trade and frequent traders are rewarded with a £5 per trade rate after a… Read Full Review

“Confusing costs and poor customer service”

Written on: 03/06/2016

I've been a (small) monthly investor with II since 2007. I've had very little reason to contact them although when I did I got the impression they thought I was remedial. They might be right as I haven't been bothered enough to work out the pricing structure since it changed to a periodic fee. Which you may get back via trades. But might not. And some trades are a one price and regular trades are at another. Did I benefit from the lower regular trading fee or the commission rebate linked to… Read Full Review

“Terrible customer service”

Written on: 01/06/2016 by BigNorm999 (1 review written)

I have found their service to be very poor, with inconsistent replies, failure to adhere to their quoted response times and they are not customer oriented. Specifically, they have miscommunicated the products they have available and take months (quite literally) to arrange a simple transfer from an ISA. I do not know what the other platforms are like, but I certainly wouldn't be able to recommend these guys based on my experience over the last 12 months… Read Full Review

“AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!”

Written on: 16/05/2016 by ShaunPrater (1 review written)

Oh how I wish I hadn't been seduced by their low cost offers. Never has 'you get what you pay for' been more apt. My dealings with II have been a catalogue of failures, incompetence, lack of simple basic business communication skills and terrible, terrible, non-existent customer service. - security issues with confidential emails being sent outside the 'secure' message system and to the wrong person! - constantly blaming other managers/platforms for their own errors and omissions - promises… Read Full Review

“ Stealth charging on free accounts”

Written on: 15/04/2016 by RetailerWithEthics (1 review written)

Watch out for this small time bunch. Joined with a free account. First written notification from these underhand charlatons is 20 years down the line when they write and say they introduced billing 4 years ago and you now owe them and are in debt as they have transformed your all your cash holdings into a debt of because of their stealth billing of £80 per annum introduced under the radar on FREE accounts although I had already paid the fees under the free account for the trades. “Worst Customer Service Ever.”

Written on: 28/02/2016 by McHughzj361 (1 review written)

The list of mistakes this shambles of a business makes is unbelievable. Wrong forms being sent out. Deleting "secure messages" instead of replying to them. Not telling you they are waiting for paperwork. Not returning monies paid into them for weeks. Putting up "blockers" like "compliance" when other platforms (Virgin Money and AJ Bell) don't have the same rules - aren't they all governed by the same rules. If you ever think of using them you are taking your future into your own hands and are… Read Full Review

“ISA and SIPP”

Written on: 20/02/2016 by AlbertoMcCormick (1 review written)

They are cheap but they made 3 mistakes in my account so far in one year. When I moved one fund from Hargreaves they allocated fewer units than I transferred. Then they sent me the wrong tax certificate. Then last month when they converted the fund I got lost 50% of the units. If I did not notice they I would have lost a lot of money. I must say they are cheap but for a reason… Read Full Review

“Do not move to II!! - they are incompetent and...”

Written on: 16/02/2016

I have been with II for 5 years and like other reviewers, I feel that the quality of their services has gone down a lot. I want to transfer my investments out of II, but have to brace for the long delays in the transfer process that many other reviews are reporting. Let me list just a few of the problems I have been facing with II: - CTVs very late and incorrect! They suggested it's no big deal, I just have to submit an update to HMRC with their new figures. No consideration for my time… Read Full Review

Pk12345678's Comment

Written on: 30/03/2016

Given the excessive charges that have been applied to the SIPP I have held with III over the years, I find that if I want to withdraw the little that I have left, that, that will be stolen in fees also. If I had known the level of fees charged as a proportion of fund I would not have trusted III with my money in the first place. I would strongly advise the small investor to think about putting their money elsewhere, and not to line the pockets of III.
I see they are advertising a junior ISA at the moment, be careful before you consider this, as they seem to treat the small investor with contempt.

“A Once Fine Platform Degenerating into Chaos”

Written on: 26/01/2016 by MikeTheUnhappyTrader (1 review written)

Been with ii for about 4 years. Used to be a good quality PC platform - not the most features or markets but robust and relatively straightforward to use. And the support people actually seemed to care. However, since their "upgrade" to "Trader Pro" it has all gone to pieces. The new version was very buggy, frequently crashed and features and functions disappeared then reappeared but with different default settings - with the "Hedge" default going from On to Off being the most expensive for me… Read Full Review

“CHEAP BUT POOR SERVICE”

Written on: 19/01/2016

Whether a platform is cheap or expensive depends on what you hold (funds or shares), how you hold them (ISA, SIPP &c), the size of your portfolio, and how frequently you trade. You can get a clear comparison of costs at a comparison site (though I do not know how accurate the site is - you should check the sites you are interested in direct). You also need to think what will happen to your portfolio in the future as some platforms - including ii - have heavy exit fees. For a relatively large… Read Full Review

“Consolidated Tax Vouchers in meltdown”

Written on: 15/10/2015 by JensenBurns (1 review written)

I and my family have had accounts with Interactive Investor for a number of years. In the last 2 years their client tax department have been getting increasingly slow in producing the annual CTV vouchers required to prepare your tax returns. This year the performance is appalling and the CTVs for 2014/15 are still not available as at 15 October. This will make life very difficult for people who still like to produce paper returns the deadline is 31 October, and for those in a tax reclaim… Read Full Review

“Ignore all the negative reviews... iii is not for...”

Written on: 21/09/2015 by dingdong808 (1 review written)

Its clear from reading all the negative reviews here that there many of the unhappy people just haven't understand what iii offers (and in the cases of people who don't know that there is a quarterly charge they clearly haven't read things probably - it is made very clear on the website) Quite simply if you want amazing levels of customer service and no quarterly fees you can go elsewhere to people like hargreaves lansdown. However although you might not be paying a quarterly fee you will be… Read Full Review

Bignorm999's Response to dingdong808's Review

Written on: 01/06/2016

I agree that the pricing is transparent and low, but their customer service is truly shocking. In an ideal world you wouldn't have to use their customer service, but I have found cause to contact them for the following 3 issues in the last 12 months:

1. failure to transfer money in on two occasions from cash Isa accounts (process took over month the first time and I'm still trying for the second time (4 wks so far), they have taken longer than their stated time to reply, they blame the transfers department and can't explain why it failed. They have now asked me to fill in another form and post it to them again to start the process again - which is what happened the last time too - during this period my ISA funds that I wan't to invest have effectively been in limbo.

2. trying to transfer a fund from another provider (I was eventually told after several weeks that they don't support this fund but they can't explain why)

3. trying to purchase an ETF via my ISA (I was told that this was incorrectly marked on site and was actually not available for ISA despite being marked to the contrary - it took them a week to find this out, after I called them back as they hadn't replied as promised)

Before all of this happened, I too thought they were okay as a low cost option, but now I just don't think they are worth the hassle.

“Avoid dire service and poor platform: go elsewhere.”

Written on: 14/09/2015

I invested with iii a while back. The interface is pretty confusing, but it does basically work. Do not expect much beyond this. The front end is a nest of confusing pages that make it hard to navigate your holdings, which accounts they are in, and at times what those holdings actually are. It is all ultimately logical, but it's far from friendly Many other reviews have commented on their fee structure, which they changed during my time with them. You will have to pay £20 a quarter… Read Full Review

“Terrible User Interface, High fees”

Written on: 11/09/2015 by Portermr41 (1 review written)

I started investing with them some years ago in the hope that I could build up a nice little nest egg. At the time I noticed that the user interface was pretty poor, like something from the late nineties, early noughties. I wasn't too fussed and set up my direct debits and auto investments. I reviewed my investments recently and noticed that most of my profits had been eaten up by the constant fees! I then noticed that they had changed their fees and all of a sudden I was paying large quarterly… Read Full Review
