“Appalling, arrogant service”

Written on: 14/12/2014 by TobiasFlanagan (1 review written)

The most awful customer service. This company does not give a damn about its customers and would never apologise for the mistakes it makes. It is quite possibly the worst user experience I have ever come across in the financial services space. Do not use them - go to Fidelity or Best invest instead… Read Full Review

“Serious errors”

Written on: 12/12/2014 by Gregoryib382 (1 review written)

I transferred around GBP 300k worth of stock from Fidelity, attracted by their low charges. Transfer started in May, and seemed yo be compete in Nov, after a LOT of hassle. I complained about the transfer process and the complaint was upheld, but noe effective compensation. To my horror, 20k worth of ISA holdings have now just vanished from my account. I asked why and complained again, and they say they need 8 weeks to investigate! That is a v long time to deny somebody any… Read Full Review

“INTERACTIVE INVESTOR : THE FIRST SIX MONTHS!”

Written on: 07/12/2014 by TrueBlue1873 (1 review written)

Opened my account in June 2014 and overall 3 stars (OK) is about par for course. There are many positives not least the trading fees and in particular the £5 per when you achieve 10 in a month. The screens & general research options are good which allow analysis to be carried out in both fundamental & technical modes. I also find that trades are executed almost instantaneously and are confirmed by email. However, there are three key areas where I would express significant concern : a) Delay… Read Full Review

“Financial Institution ? What sort of Institution ?”

Written on: 05/12/2014 by nzMcIntosh296 (1 review written)

Without knowing the existence of this website, attracted by their nice account features on the website plus their direct access to a certain bank's products, I opened an account in August this year, and requested them to transfer one single fund from other manager. 2 months later, while I was waiting for their explanation why it had not been transferred yet, they suddenly sent a faked document to the other manager and instructed them to transfer the WHOLE account of mine-shares, funds and… Read Full Review

“How can they just empty my account without telling...”

Written on: 25/11/2014 by Moser95 (1 review written)

How can they just empty my account without telling me? I had an account which had a handful of shares, and a cash balance of a couple of hundred pounds. I just left it there - I haven't traded or touched anything for years. As far as I knew, this was a free account. Then out of the blue, they wrote to me telling me my account was £85 overdrawn. It turns out that they have changed the fee structure and started taking £20 per quarter, for the last 2 years or so. Yes - they have charged… Read Full Review

“Appalling Customer Service”

Written on: 24/11/2014 by colstockton (1 review written)

Don't bother trying to send a message to customer service they only reply after you ring them. Ring them and you'll have to wait a long time to get a surly representative with an appalling attitude. If you then decide to make a complaint they tell you " it won't make any difference". Beware of the dividend re-investment scheme. If you sell your all your shares in one company there is no way to stop any subsequent dividend been reinvested. Then you can end up with a small holding worth less… Read Full Review

“Appalling service”

Written on: 17/11/2014 by ccaws (2 reviews written)

1. Does not use faster payments, they hold onto your money for weeks after you have sold and want to transfer to your bank account 2. Dreadful call center, if you ring them, which you will need to because the application errors frequently, they will just pick up and put the phone on mute so you just end paying the 0845 rate to shout down the phone with no one listening… Read Full Review

“Dormant account leads to charges and trumped up debts”

Written on: 14/11/2014 by EricaLong87 (1 review written)

I opened an interactive investor account years ago. It was good for a while, then a combination of other things to invest in and kids growing up meant that I sold all my shares. Today I received a letter telling me I owe them £20 for their quarterly charge. No letter before this to tell me that they're going to start charging me. Clearly just a swindle to (a) close dormant accounts and (b) make some money out of them. BEWARE if you're thinking of using them. I would not recommend them to… Read Full Review

“Questionable statistics gathering”

Written on: 24/10/2014 by PedroErickson (1 review written)

I cannot understand how II manages to over inflate share and fund performance growth figures. I compared 4 different dealers across the same 11 funds and stocks over 5 years, II always came unrealistically high. I appreciate differnt data collection methods but II is completely over and above +++. How come please… Read Full Review

“Poor Customer Service”

Written on: 07/09/2014 by Biggles1957 (1 review written)

I've sent several messages to the help desk asking for information to help me identify the various share classes of a specific fund on the platform but - seven weeks later - Interactive Investor have still not been able to provide this. I've written to the Head of Customer Contact twice but haven't received a reply to either letter. This is a pretty basic request and just goes to show how slow and poor this company is. This company has always beeg good to deal with, but with all its Admin including buying and selling shares based in Scotland I have my doubts about continuing.Apparently they have a registered HQ in London and have Marketing and other Depts there. Not good enough for me .I will leave and I think others should and will too.It is disingenuous not to be clear that this is a Scottish company dressed up to be an English one.Sadly I will have to go elsewhere if the yes vote wins. It's too risky!

“Poor service with numerous serious mistakes”

Written on: 01/09/2014 by Bradfordxn454 (1 review written)

After 7 months still one fund has not been transferred in. It has take numerous requests and if. I had not contacted my other managers I doubt any would have been transferred. In hindsight this would have been a blessing. Against my instructions they told Hargreevs to sell my SIPP and transfer as cash, lost £3000. Some of my ISA's went to the wrong account and when they added to my ISA they forgot to remove, resulting duplications. Not knowing I sold 2 of these duplicates, when they realised… Read Full Review

As long as you can prove they should not have sold the shares you can claim for the loss via the ombudsman.BUT YOU MUST BE ABLE TO PROVE THAT YOU ASKED ONLY TO TFR THE SHARES AND NOT TICKED THE BOX GIVING THEM THE OPTION TO SELL

“Stressful and extremely annoying”

Written on: 29/08/2014 by Fooled-again (1 review written)

I transferred my holdings from Hargreaves Lansdown to interactive Investor in March. I was told it would take a maximum of 8 weeks and that you could not trade until the process was completed. It took just over 5 months, and would have taken longer if I did not phone up to chase every fortnight after the 8 weeks had passed. Their service is incompetent and their customer services just ignore you if they can, and then send you obviously standard responses that usually have nothing to do with… Read Full Review

“Transfer??? - Avoid for your sanity and financial security”

Written on: 07/08/2014 by Swambi (1 review written)

We decided to transfer our investments to Interactive investor in early May, because of their low fixed charges. However, the process is a complete disaster. We have received minimal information, a key form was lost, information provided appears untrue when contacting our former firms, and after 3 months none of my wife's funds have been transferred, some of mine have, others haven't and one investment of £30,000 has entirely disappeared. We are hoping that it will all be worthwhile one day -… Read Full Review

Think the one-star rating is over-generous! My wife and I transferred way back in February and she is still waiting for one fund worth over £10,000 to appear in her account. This despite several emails since beginning of May asking for the issue to be resolved. At the outset, we were told transfers could take up to 8 weeks - this was 7 months ago!! - and still not completed. Also told each transfer would be confirmed by email - this never happened. One of my funds was transferred to the wrong account and I had to explain the error twice before they rectified it. In my opinion , this company is not fit for purpose. would definitely not recommend them to others.

“Poor Service and Poor Dividends”

Written on: 13/07/2014 by Edmondson260 (1 review written)

They don't reply to your secure messages, they don't ring you back when they said they would, they don't pay dividends on time, sometimes they don't pay them at all. Sometimes your holdings "Disappear" on their website, and become "N/A" what ever the hell that means, so you can't see the price or sell it. … Read Full Review

“Appaling Transfer Service”

Written on: 20/06/2014 by 352McCarty (1 review written)

Having many holdings with Hargreaves Lansdown, I was concerned about the charges my wife and I would incur with HL under their new charging structure. Looking around, Interactive Investor seemed a very competitive alternative, so at the end of January we commenced transfer of our holdings from HL to II. Now, in late June, many funds are still missing and during the transfer process II have made many stupid mistakes which have involved me in much time chasing up. Their staff are always polite… Read Full Review

I have the same trouble and have told them that I intend to transfer out again. They have a article on their website that states if you want to transfer out within 12 months of opening the account that there would be no transfer out charges
If more people transferred away from them then the customer service will improve
It is a shame that the service is bad, as they have an excellent website.
One thing to bear in mind if you have a regular saving into shares, you wait 2 days for the contract note and the deal is always done at the highest price of the day on the day of investment!!!!

I did exactly the same thing and is having similar problems. My transfer request was1st started on 13 Feb 2014. In bits and pieces most of the items were transfered across except Schorders UK Dynamic Units. As at 22nd July they still haven't gone across.

I keep sending E mails to III and keep getting vague replies like 'we are chasing up the transfer'. and they would not give me the completion date.

“They don't pay your dividends - beware!!!”

Written on: 17/06/2014 by 63Brown (1 review written)

I received the following message when my dividend was not paid. I waited until 13 June - still NO payment. I phoned, they promised to call back but didn't. I have called again today and no-one can sort this out. Basically they are holding on to my dividend. Not sure what the "service level agreement" is supposed to be other than the fact they can legitimately withhold funds for two weeks before paying, but on this occasion they have still not paid. I doubt there are any charges that I can make… Read Full Review

“Poor transfer service”

Written on: 14/06/2014 by FrancisFrancis (1 review written)

I applied to iii to transfer an ISA from Hargreaves Lansdown on 7 March. Today, the 14 June I'm still waiting for the fund to show in my iii account despite HL transferring it on 12 May. Two relations initiated transfers at the same time and they both went through by mid May. Has mine got lost. What has Cofunds done with my fund? I've been unable to trade for weeks. Not impressed with the correspondence from iii and now having to resort to complaining to Financial Ombudsman Service… Read Full Review

“AVOID - this company will rip you off”

Written on: 14/06/2014 by 354Vargas (1 review written)

Interactive Investor has a very clever scheme going to rip off any legacy customers who happen to hold shares through them. In July 2012 they introduced a £20 quarterly fee, but they never send invoices or notify clients of the charges. They just quietly deduct the fees from any cash clients have in the account, and then they carry on accruing debt but not notifying them. They do not send clients postal notification that there are charges accruing, or any emails. Instead, they expect clients… Read Full Review

Please see copy of text I sent to their customer their contact email address today:
I am in receipt of your letter of 17 June, the content of which surprised me. This is to register a complaint about your changed terms and conditions, which I am only now aware of since I have not previously received any written notification of changes (please send me a copy of the correspondence you refer to in your letter going back to May 2012 and June 2012 to enable me to review your changes and communication around the same).
At this stage I note that you appear to have put in place charges (for what service precisely?) but you clearly do not send invoices or notify clients of charges.
In my case I have ceased using the email account associated with my interactive investor account so you should have been identified the account as dormant and dealt with matters in a reasonable way. I have seen no evidence that you have done so.
If, as I suspect, you have been quietly deducting fees from the small stockholding I had I believe this to be tendentious behaviour on your part and intend to challenge any alleged debt you may have identified through this practice.
Please now send me a statement of any alleged debt by return to this email address, in addition to the information I have requested above.
I await your advice which in 14 days, which I think is reasonable period under the circumstances.

“No problems, good value and customer service fine”

Written on: 14/06/2014 by 339Dickey (1 review written)

I opened an ISA account with iii recently. Found the website a little awkward to navigate initially but once got used to it was ok. When I contacted customer services for advice on how it all works have been given accurate clear advice and when have emailed them i have always had a reply within 48hrs. So have been happy with the service. The quarterly charges include the same value of trades, so if you trade on the regular savers day at £1.50 its good value to build up a portfolio over the… Read Full Review
