“A Once Fine Platform Degenerating into Chaos”

Written on: 26/01/2016 by MikeTheUnhappyTrader (1 review written)

Been with ii for about 4 years. Used to be a good quality PC platform - not the most features or markets but robust and relatively straightforward to use. And the support people actually seemed to care. However, since their "upgrade" to "Trader Pro" it has all gone to pieces. The new version was very buggy, frequently crashed and features and functions disappeared then reappeared but with different default settings - with the "Hedge" default going from On to Off being the most expensive for me… Read Full Review

“CHEAP BUT POOR SERVICE”

Written on: 19/01/2016

Whether a platform is cheap or expensive depends on what you hold (funds or shares), how you hold them (ISA, SIPP &c), the size of your portfolio, and how frequently you trade. You can get a clear comparison of costs at a comparison site (though I do not know how accurate the site is - you should check the sites you are interested in direct). You also need to think what will happen to your portfolio in the future as some platforms - including ii - have heavy exit fees. For a relatively large… Read Full Review

“Consolidated Tax Vouchers in meltdown”

Written on: 15/10/2015 by JensenBurns (1 review written)

I and my family have had accounts with Interactive Investor for a number of years. In the last 2 years their client tax department have been getting increasingly slow in producing the annual CTV vouchers required to prepare your tax returns. This year the performance is appalling and the CTVs for 2014/15 are still not available as at 15 October. This will make life very difficult for people who still like to produce paper returns the deadline is 31 October, and for those in a tax reclaim… Read Full Review

“Ignore all the negative reviews... iii is not for...”

Written on: 21/09/2015 by dingdong808 (1 review written)

Its clear from reading all the negative reviews here that there many of the unhappy people just haven't understand what iii offers (and in the cases of people who don't know that there is a quarterly charge they clearly haven't read things probably - it is made very clear on the website) Quite simply if you want amazing levels of customer service and no quarterly fees you can go elsewhere to people like hargreaves lansdown. However although you might not be paying a quarterly fee you will be… Read Full Review

“Avoid dire service and poor platform: go elsewhere.”

Written on: 14/09/2015

I invested with iii a while back. The interface is pretty confusing, but it does basically work. Do not expect much beyond this. The front end is a nest of confusing pages that make it hard to navigate your holdings, which accounts they are in, and at times what those holdings actually are. It is all ultimately logical, but it's far from friendly Many other reviews have commented on their fee structure, which they changed during my time with them. You will have to pay £20 a quarter… Read Full Review

“Terrible User Interface, High fees”

Written on: 11/09/2015 by Portermr41 (1 review written)

I started investing with them some years ago in the hope that I could build up a nice little nest egg. At the time I noticed that the user interface was pretty poor, like something from the late nineties, early noughties. I wasn't too fussed and set up my direct debits and auto investments. I reviewed my investments recently and noticed that most of my profits had been eaten up by the constant fees! I then noticed that they had changed their fees and all of a sudden I was paying large quarterly… Read Full Review

“Irresponsible ”

Written on: 27/08/2015

I have been with II for some time and overlooked the delays in making a fund withdrawable and so on. However, this month they decided to go to another level of incompetence. I joined up for regular investing and fortunately or unfortunately for me, the day they made the investment was on Aug 23rd, when the markets crashed. My funds got ring fenced in the morning itself and the next day (Tuesday), I removed my elected shares to be bought. For 3 days, I waited for the shares but I could see that… Read Full Review

“Do not invest with Interactive Investor - they are useless”

Written on: 18/08/2015 by Stevemanc (2 reviews written)

I tried to transfer my SIPP from Hargreaves Lansdown to Interactive Investor. That was in February 2015. It is now August and my problem has finally been resolved. This has been the closing of my account and the loss of £68. I had not received my welcome pack before the April deadline and so was forced to add to my SIPP with HL. Not only had II taken my opening fee but were now embarking on taking a a quarterly fee. I had to email them to stop (as I was pursuing a complaint). I have been… Read Full Review

“Don't invest with interactive investor”

Written on: 16/08/2015 by Maia415 (1 review written)

Beware of this company's archaic processes that are not fit for trading in the digital age. Be prepared for long delays to your cash deposits being cleared and investable funds in your account. I wonder who benefits from this? The worst thing is the standard stock answers you will receive to queries raised leading to further delays. I have had it with this company and am in the process of moving my sipp elsewhere. I would not recommend to anyone. You are not valued as a customer. Just… Read Full Review

“Don't use III to transfer your investments from others”

Written on: 15/07/2015 by fikilela (2 reviews written)

Only wish I had read reviews on this site before I decided to transfer all my paper and provider held investments to Interactive Investor. Having used them for many years to buy and sell shares and never had a problem, I decided to transfer all my shares, UT's, OEIC"S, IT's, PEP's and ISA's - a quarter of a million pounds worth - to save mounds of paper and have them in one place. With a supposed incentive and paid cancellations it all sounded great, although nothing confirmed yet as to… Read Full Review

I am also a fairly recent customer, having moved from Selftrade [!@]. Although there 'transfer-in' is slow, it IS cheap.
I also have a SIPP that was transferred to a "Private Wealth Manager". They took just as long, with three attempts needed to get paper certificates transferred to their custodians. They are NOT cheap

“Not impressed”

Written on: 08/07/2015 by Abbigailn372 (1 review written)

I switched from a high cost provider to lower cost ones and split accounts over Alliance Trust and Interactive Investor - both offered good deals. I'm sorry I didn't give it all all to Alliance. “disregard for clients - awful in resolving problems”

Written on: 23/06/2015 by Pierret71 (1 review written)

I chose them because they are much cheaper for larger portfolios than percentage-based providers. HOWEVER: during the first 3 months of my client-ship I encountered 2 problems which Interactive Investor (II) were very not helpful at all in resolving: ISA (cash) transfer delay the bank holding my cash ISA did not receive the transfer forms from II. I still don't exactly understand where the problem occurred but when I phoned II several times I was always given a "standard" answer that they… Read Full Review

“Late payers”

Written on: 09/06/2015 by ClaudiaBreen378 (1 review written)

You would probably be satisfied if you held only Acc units. Fund dividends are almost always late, sometimes very late and even share dividends have been late on a couple of occasions. II need to sort out their contract with FNZ and insist on a better service… Read Full Review

“Worst for trading ever, do not join”

Written on: 09/06/2015 by PaulHax (1 review written)

When you online trade, unless the stock is a dead weight, you will always have, critical please call for this trade, or the system could not place a trade at this moment. You find a good stock, it is not available to buy on II. You find a moving stock you cannot buy it on II, your stock is dropping, you cannot sell it on II. You phone them and they always seem to busy to pick up the phone. They do not reply to secure messages. They are complete rubbish. I have tried many and don't know why I… Read Full Review

“Review of other reviews”

Written on: 01/06/2015 by wiHamilton1973 (1 review written)

Have spent a few minutes reading other reviews and cannot agree with the bulk of critical comments. I get the impression some clients are expecting a service where iii.co.uk can read their minds. Examples: Re-invested dividends nearly always take place within 24/48 hrs of dividend being paid. £20 fee structure of last couple of years easily offset by a couple of trades. Secure message always answered within 2/3 days. Once setup cash is transferred instantly between accounts and within 2/3… Read Full Review

Please take a closer look at the other reviews and make a direct, hands-on comparison with other, better services before you rush to defend Interactive Investor.
Your comments don't address the lousy user interface, the tendency to hang on to your money after it's supposed to have been transferred out (dividends and sold shares), and — the most basic expectation for an online trader — the inability to sell your shares, offering instead to put you in contact with a dealer!
I trade with two other online services and was forced to II when Motley Fool was dropped by Halifax. I can guarantee that Interactive Investor is a complete shambles by comparison with my other two.

Hello
My current experience of transferring all my investments to them is riddled with delays and problems but above all lack of communication from their Transfer Team. For example, exactly two months to transfer one simple ISA - I appreciate faults may be on both sides but letters never get answered and receipt of stock or forms is never acknowledged..
If you are happy with two other online services rather than ii, would you care to recommend and name them so we can consider tried and tested alternatives please?
Thank you.

“Confusing”

Written on: 23/05/2015 by AddisynGrady (1 review written)

Tried to open an account, but was not sure what I was going to get - just registering, or opening a product. Found the screens hard to use and would delete information I entered if I made a mistake somewhere else on the screen. Very confusing experience logging in, did not see what I was expecting. When investigating the ISA, one was opened for me straight away, without any warning. Would not use, terrible experience… Read Full Review

“They might be cheap but certainly not cheerful”

Written on: 08/05/2015 by Almeida140 (1 review written)

Their back office is still very manual and as massive backlog. It took over a month to move a Cash ISa to them. In fact I got notification from Halifax that they had closed the account 2 weeks before it showed as funds at Interactive. Sipp - contribution made by cheque ( they don't offer card top up) and a month later they have not acknowledged receipt. This is not the first time either. Their Sipp provider is being inspected by HMRC... their excuse for delay. Contrast with H-L - automatic… Read Full Review

Over a month to move a Cash ISA? You're lucky. I'm trying to transfer my holdings to another (vastly better) service and close my account, but nothing has happened after 5 weeks. When I phone I'm told that "8 to 10 weeks is the industry standard" to transfer shareholdings. But they debited the charge for transfers out weeks ago.
Interactive Investor is a joke on just about every front!

I'm new to trading and found the UX on the site a little tricky, but I soon got to grips with it. I've invested 50k and not it's all going well. I suggest they sort out the clunky login and get the watchlists working alongside your actual holdings. But it's all pretty good… Read Full Review

“Shocking Customer Service”

Written on: 31/03/2015 by Coleman187 (1 review written)

Trying to open a SIPP with them and give them my money! At first I got locked out of account and couldn't reset the password. Was then forced to call their 0845 number (which no one ever answers!) to get the account re-opened, still struggled to log in with support on the phone as their website is terribly designed. Now trying to actually deposit some money in said SIPP account, I've given the run around by (terrible) customer service giving me contradictory information. I wanted to take… Read Full Review
