Good Points: Nice stock, powerful, blueing, very accurate and compact.

Bad Points: In my opinion the breech seal blows out, gun shakes itself loose, safety has a weak link that disables gun if breaks and overpriced..

General comments: Bought the BSA Lightning 'XL' Air Rifle in the summer of '07, sighted in good got good power accuracy. The first problem I had was the breech seal started to blow out on one side, it finally lost about 1/2 of the side. I got another one it didnt take long for it to blow up too. Using regular rws beeman pellets. I finally custom made one from a piece of a nylon washer used in sink faucets. Worked perfectly. Next problem; I was shooting one day, all of a sudden the trigger locked on safe & would not disengage. I removed the stock to check the trigger, noticed they use a wire similar to a coat hanger linked from the cocking arm to the trigger safety. It had broke, making the trigger lock itself on safe. I removed the broken piece & rebent the wire to hook up to the safety again. This is a 500.00 gun, not some kmart junker. It also seemed like it was shaking itself apart, screws loosening, locktiting them, I was worried the rear scope screw would shear off from recoil, so I sold the gun. I wound up with a gun that for about the same money blows this piece of crap out of the water; the hw97 mkIII. Get this gun instead! For the same price, there's no comparison. Theres not a bad thing I can say about it, super accurate, so smooth, you cant even hear the spring being compressed...
