“Nile for Mile”

A weeks cruise on the Nile is a great way to visit the Temples and get a flavour of Egypt. You have to be fit as the tours start early and go on to mid to late afternoon. Most of the ships on the Nile are of similar standard, however the crew on the Ms Stephanie are very good. The waiters are very friendly, and our guide Big Daddy was excellent. The guests on our holiday were mostly middle aged and everyone was friendly and got on with each other. We were like one big happy family. The boat... (read more)

After reading the reviews on all the sites I nearly cancelled my cruise, what was these idiots staying on? It could not have been the Ms Stephanie. My partner and i have just returned from a wonderful holiday on the nile onborad MS Stephanie and we want to let everyone know how superb the whole experience was. The whole trip ran smoothly from start to finish from being met at Luxor Airport,being met by a representative with visas for our passports until our return to the airport for our flight home. My husband and I have just returned from a Nile cruise on board Ms Stephanie and it was fantastic. We were originally booked on the Ms Monica but was changed to Ms Stephanie. We were a bit unsettled by the reviews that had been written but when we arrived we were very happy, the boat is very very similar to the Ms Monica. When we arrived on the boat we were disappointed with the state of it. It appeared as if we had arrived a week early after the advertised "maintenance".The workmanship was shoddy, paint was splashed and smudged everywhere and even the varnish used for the wardrobe had been slapped all up the wallpaper.Our bath wasn't too bad but our friends was in a bad state of repair. The MS Stephanie was very clean and the food was well prepared and served hot. The thing that made this holiday for me was our tour guide 'George'. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable about everything we were able to see but he also went the extra mile to ensure everyone was having a good time. The MS Stephanie is a really comfortable ship and the Tour Guides from Orbital Travel were superb. Nothing was too much trouble, and both crew and guides went the extra mile to make sure you enjoyed the holiday. There was amusing entertainment each evening, and some wonderful animals made out of the towels each night.
We recommend that you go all-inclusive, and make sure you stock up with water every night. Some of the tours have very early starts to avoid the heat - so you need the water....

We booked through classicholidays4u.co.uk but the holiday was handled in Eqypt by Orbital Travel.
From landing to departure Orbital were exteremely slick and professional. The Tour Manager always attentive and not letting anything slip; this is key when the Eqyptions would let anything dro given half a chance.

We have just returned from the MS Stephanie cruising from 5-12 April. This is our second Nile Cruise and whilst we had a lovely time there are definitely some pluses and minuses with this boat. Our Guide Ayman was fantastic, extremely kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The sun deck and pool are quite pleasant however please note that though the pool isn't a plunge pool as on some of the boats, it is not huge. Have just returned from a week on the MS Stephanie. We had the most fantastic time. The cabins were a little tired, but the ship itself was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful and took great pride in making us feel cossetted and cared for. We travelled with Orbital Travel who are very well organised.
Fabulous trip- but it IS tiring ! 7am starts make sense because of the heat.
4am start to go to Abu Simbel well worth it.
Staff helpful, obliging and friendly. Our guide Hesan was brilliant, personable and extremely knowledgeable,and "made" our holiday.
Food excellent, especially the Egyptian dinners. The beer is Stella,from Cairo !

MS Stephanie was good value for money, Sam the guide was excellent. The weather was good and the sights were amazing. The nile cruise was a wonderful experience but Eygpt is very dirty so wet wipes are a must. No reports of anyone having any tummy trouble
MS Stephanie is more like a 3* rating but we were well looked after and we have no complaints about the trip.

I cannot agree with previous reports which state that the food on Stephanie was good - we found it lukewarm, repetitive and (sometimes) inedible. The 'waiters' in the lounge or on deck didn't bring drinks to your table - they only took away empty glasses. It was however a very clean vessel but how it can be rated 5 Star baffled us completely. travelDep MS Stephanie - 5 Star Nile Cruise Ship - what a fantastic boat! been before on the Da Vinci which does not compare..this boat was excellent! Trips superb, guide fantastic and weather far too hot but who cares when you are seeing all the things you have dreamed of. A mix of English. Spanish, Italian and a few Germans and we all got on great. Get the pills from the chemist for about 2 pounds for the stomach, you will not have a spoilt holiday. We have this week returned from a Nile Cruise on board MS Stephanie. The only reason the trip got 8 out of 10 was the weather. Too hot. The cruise and ship and itinery was 1st class. The food, lovely cabin and on board amenities where excellent. Anyone who has any complaints must complain about anything and everything. A wonderful experience. (read more)

The arrangements went well with great tour guides. There was a UK/German fight over the loungers which was dealt with. As others have said, they need more loungers, and enforce the no-bagging policy. Great masseurs

Our Eygyptian guide on the MS Stephanie was with us throughout the cruise, he arranged all the tours & was very knowledgeable, excellent tour guide. There were 22 English guests on board, & groups of Germans, French & Italian. I travelled with two children 15yrs& 12yrs. They thoroughly enjoyed the culture of Egypt & the boat. Excellent holiday would recommend the MS Stephanie to other travellers. (read more)

I found this review helpful because...I am going to be staying on this boat in November, really excited but a little worried about the gippy tummy bug, the chemist advice was really useful. Can we get anything over here to help before we go???
