“Horrible customer service”

I've been coming to ESHK for about a year now after downsizing from Sassoon. I've had my hair cut by pretty much all the stylists and have been relatively satisfied up until my most recent visit, where I was booked in with Zoltan (a supposedly senior stylist). He offered no greeting or introduction, no consultation or recommendations (isn't that the whole point of offering a "premium" service?) and he kept leaving for several minutes at a time without giving an explanation. I have been to Eshk for quite a while, I used to go the Hoxton one but now I live in Barbican I tried the one on Goswell Road. I had Sebastian the senior Stylist and what a great cut. The guy takes his time and I felt very comfortable. So happy with my cut happy to manage and I feel good I had to share! (read more)

The senior stylists are all very good (I've tried most of them. - I don't want to say my favourite as they're already very popular!) and capable of suggesting unconventional cuts. But the ones I've received from the male stylists Manu and [name removed] left me unsatisfied. They both didn't seem to have much imagination when cutting Asian hair. So, I came here because I wanted a new style, yet was terrified of trying a new salon. I called earlier in the week and asked the friendly receptionist who would be good at taking my dyed-black hair to a lovely red. She recommended Marco, so I booked an appointment. A friend recommended ESHK Hoxton as i work nearby so thought i would give it a go. I am usually very fussy with my hair and have trouble with new hairdressers but ESHK Hoxton was brilliant! Great atmosphere in the salon and my stylist Ana was amazing! I was very happy with her customer service and my hair! She did exactly what i asked which doesn't happen often and made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely go to her again and tell my friends too. Massive thumbs up! (read more)

Went there the other day based on the ratings and comments here, and I was very pleased! Sofie was lovely, and just the kind of hairdresser I need. I had very long hair (almost touching my bum), and I needed to get a real hairstyle. Sofie proposed two alternatives after hearing me out, and explained which she thought would suit me best, which was just what I needed. I have never been so upset by a haircut (or, in fact, any service) that I've refused to pay and been compelled to write a negative review, but here goes... I came here because I couldn't get an appointment at my usual salon. I know what I like - I brought in around 7-8 photographs of the style I wanted. I had grown out my hair for about a year, its a medium ash blonde and the ends were a bit blonder....I basically asked her to simply make the rest of the hair the same colour fading naturally to a bit blonder at the ends....simple you think? Well apparently not. She died my hair basically bloody black! Nothing natural about this, about 10 times too dark and if this wasnt worse enough it looked like she'd got a ruler and painted around half my head and then splattered a few black patches... I first went to Eshk after I ready a time out review saying how great it was. The first couple of times I went, I had JAY, who was great and I was very happy with my hair. Soon she moved up to a senior stylist and started charging £55 which was too steep for me (all their senior stylists charge that much) so I went with a junior stylist. Finally a "fancy" salon that you feel welcome and comfortable in! The staff is super cool and trendy but so nice and pay you lots of attention in the way I like it. Like "-Lets talk about your hair!" Fabulous salon! I've been working to grow my hair for over 5 years and it was time for someone to give it some shape and bring it to life. ESHK Hair clerkenwell.
This place markets itself as a resonably high brow hair salon, but it is not. At least not the Clerkenwell branch. Haven't tried Hoxton.
As stated on their website the staff are friendly. They certainly don't use top range products -not a keratase product in sight!

My first experience at ESHK was good with Sebastian but unfortunately I went back there again on his day off. I got Daniel I think his name was (tight curly reddish brown hair) who was unfriendly and unprofessional and did a terrible job with my highlights. I felt so uncomfortable from his vibe that I decided to dry my own hair because I didn't want him anywhere near me and couldn't wait to get out of the salon.

This sounds like the same person I reviewed (4th May 2011). Couldnt recall his name but he was an awful hairdreser. Though I think he made an effort to be chatty once he realised how unimpressed I was by his (lack of) skills.

Ive been to many salons in east london and this is by far the best. Good value, good interior. Relaxing and very friendly staff. Always had a good cut. On one occasion i had my hair cut but felt i wanted more taken off, so returned the next day and a member of staff fitted me in and cut my hair free of charge and was happy to do so. Just had my first hair cut and color at ESHK and will definitely be back! I've been in London for a few months now and was soo apprehensive about trying to find a new stylist. After reading so many good reviews online, I decided to go for it - and am so happy I did! I saw Jay (female!) for a semi-permanent all over tint and cut. I went in today and saw Polly for a colour correction and cut and blow wave. I am SUPERBLY happy with what she has managed to do with my hair and I felt as though I was listened to when describing what I desired. Very happy with my hair colouring and cut. I was there for 3 hours though!
This is because they dont use any accelerating heaters for the colouring. So if you having a colouring and cut be sure to eat before or you may get hungry! They do offer you coffee and tea though. The background music was very nice, also, my head was coloured black first, then bleached in the areas for the red tones then finally the red tones were applied. I had a really good experience at this salon.
The lady who did my colour really knew what she was talking about and suggested the right type of colour for my hair and skin type. She was not particularly friendly but she was professional, made me feel comfortable and took the time to listen to what I had to say. Frankly that's what I expect from a salon.
I'm delighted with the result and have had compliments from a few people.
Still on the plus side, the guy who cut my hair was really easy...

Oscar put my hair up for a special night out and he was absolutely fabulous - listened to what I wanted, made me feel special and my hair was incredible! I got so many comments about how good it looked. The whole experience was very relaxing and fun - I would recommend it to anyone. After reading time out and some of the reviews, I decided to have a try at ESHK. Tim was my hair stylist, and personally I'd give him a 2/10 as hair stylist. I don't know how good he is with long hair for ladies definitely is quite bad with short haircuts and men's hair.
I think people is just attracted by this place because of the youngish atmoshpere, cool music and beer? Anyway I can't judge the saloon because I only had haircut with Tim and no one else there.

I have recently had my haircut by Tim and he did a fabulous job. I have shoulder length, thick hair in a bob and he gave me a great cut. he did something reallt clever with internal layering which gave the ends a beautiful defined finish and gave me great body and movement.

Having previously had a great experience at ESHK I booked again - unfortunately my original stylist had moved so I got someone different. Having spent 6 months growing my hair we agreed to take 2 inches off to tidy it up. I then had my hair washed by a very sweet girl who got more water over ym top than my hair and was back in what I came to think of as the butchers chair. I also consider myself both extremely low maintenance (not using any product in my hair and often letting it air dry) and yet also expecting a wonderfully stylish hair cut. I have been going to ESHK (Goswell Rd and Hoxton salons) for about a year now and totally rate them. Always a great cut, really suits me. I have short hair and they have always given me an interesting and unusual cut which suits my face and is easy to care for. Firstly, my friend called and booked an appointment for two of us. I was there when she called, and she was very specific when explaining what we wanted. When we arrived, they told us that we must've booked it wrong because there was only an appointment for one of us in the book.
So, only I was able to get my hair dyed. It's been 5 days since I had it done, and the dye has faded drastically everywhere but the front of my hair. It looks terrible/was not supposed to fade.

I've been getting my hair cut at ESHK for 2-3 years now and I'm really pleased with their service. They know what cuts are on trend, but manage to blend that with a cut that suits YOUR face. They listen to what you say and give their own input as well. Last time I went, Oscar spent 1hr 20mins on my bob so it would look great all the time, not just the day after my appointment. I was trustful after few good reviews that I found and... everything I found in ESHK Hairdressers was disappointment. I admit that my hair is not easy to cut and I'm very demanding about colour but never had such a bad service. Stylist seemed to be in a hurry and didn't pay much attention to meet my expectation which caused drama on my head. On top of all, salon has no air con, it was 3 hrs nightmare... Do not recommend!

Having read reviews of Eshk, I decided to give them a try, as I felt that my own hairdresser was bored with me! Or bored with my hair!
I've now been three times, and have had an excellent cut each time, and have also had lovely highlights done.
I'm not that young, and they seem to treat everyone the same, regardless of age - they make you feel comfortable, and that you've got as much right to a good cut as a 20 year old. (Which, trust me, isn't the case in all hairdressers!)

Was not impressed with the haircut at ESHK Hair London. The stylist asked me what I wanted, I told her and she just went for it. I told her I wanted it restyled but all she did was basically give my hair a trim. It was done in about half an hour. Some hairdressers blow dry after cutting and make sure the hair falls into place properly but she did not. I had a hair cut at ESHK Hair Hairdressers yesterday after a long time trying to find a reliable and value for money hairdressers I would trust not to give me a bob that would end up making me look odd (as with past unfortunate experiences at other places). ESHK Hair Hairdressers - I have long hair which I'm really particular about, but I felt confident in the stylist when she spent a fair bit of time asking me questions looking at the hair and generally getting a feel for what i might want. She then made some suggestions and cut my hair quickly but BRILLIANTLY.
It is simply the best hair cut i have ever had - all at a great price and without the pretensions and hassle of so many other hairdressers. I can't go anywhere else now!

I was treated with respect and courtesy, with patience and the feeling that the stylist wasn't happy until I was happy; I noticed that also the stylist was re checking his work, until my hair had been cut to perfection; and was indeed unrecognisable from the absolute horror that I had inherited from THE CUTTING BAR-see my review of them on this site.

Actually i've been there aswell, Fernando did my highlights many times, he is the best colourist in the world, THE BEST IN THE WORLD!
<br/>i had so many bad experiences in so many places, if i were you, i will be scared to go somewhere new without reccomendation, reviews and reccomendations are the best that you can trust from the first place, and Eshk has so many comments in the internet, i went pass few months ago and i found that hairdressers looks very interesting, modern and classic at the same time, so i looked for them through the internet, they've got so many compliments. they are really cool and amazing.

I disagree with this. I always go to Camille and I've always been happy with his cuts.
