I bought it new in 1991, after dreaming of owning a Martin for years. Laquer starting bubbling around join of neck and body about fifteen months later. Martin refused to honour warranty, as it was over a year old, and lifetime guarantee was US-only (be aware of that!). I wrote a polite letter to them and received a very rude response. Cost me £85 in 1994 to get the bubbling checked. I still have the guitar, but much prefer my Taylor 810 and my Gibson Sheryl Crow. I rarely take the... (read more)

The Martin Guitars Martin D-41 I own has the factory installed Fishman Prefix sound system. The guitar sounds great played acoustic, but you should hear it plugged in. This is the best sounding guitar I have ever played or heard for that matter. This is a guitar that everyone should have a chance to play at least once in their life. Great sound and playability.
