“Review of Great Trethew Manor Hotel, Liskeard,...”

Written on: 15/06/2013 by Summer1013Guest

This hotel, tucked away in the countryside is a real gem. Peacocks roam the green, lush property. The rooms are charming, the view beautiful and the food delicious. The host and hostess are friendly and helpful. It is a wonderful place to visit. I would've loved to have stayed much longer than our one night. If you are going to St. Ives of Land Ends Great Trethew if easily reached on your journey, though it will take a little looking, which is even more fun when you finally drive the... (read more)

“London Black cab taxi tours”

Written on: 08/06/2013

Four family members were in London for two weeks in May 2013 and rented a black cab for a tour around the city. The cost was 320 pounds for eight hours which we thought reasonable for a private tour. Our driver took us to a lot of out of the way sights which was what we had requested. He was very nice and kept up a running commentary of all the sights. Anytime we wanted to be dropped off to see something, he arrived within a few minutes to pick us up. We thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend... (read more)

My experience at this Hoptel last night was memorable, if not exemplary. As the quote from Julius Caesar confirms, "There is a tide in the affairs of men",and this week my tide needed to turn. having buried my Father and it was now my birthday I needed a lift. Booking myself into the Sandbanks Hotel in Pool, I found I was treated with great hospitality and care. In Padstow in the depths of Cornwall, someone with local knowledge, who has lived in London, and knows how to make you feel welcome and at home. She can also guide you about the local restaurants, and get you a booking. Our fourth stay. We use it as a base to travel around Cornwall, always returning to Padstow at night . But make time to wander around the harbour, browse the shops and sit watching life go by, preferably with a drink in hand. (read more)

There's a limit to what you should expects from a budget chain hotel - even the ones at the upper end of that spectrum but I'm pleased to say the hotel surpassed all expectations. The room was fresh, clean and comfortable, the staff really friendly and helpful, the breakfast superb and the price - perfect. Location is good too (just off the M62 at Junction 25) so convenient if visiting (which we were), touring or working in West Yorkshire. We will be back. (read more)
