It is expensive, even with half-price discounts that abound but is pleasant-looking and features a unique cleaning method. Not sonic at all, it uses a forceful eddy of water which pushes up against the teeth and gums. The device took a month or so to get used to as it is quite speedy and gives a tickling effect to begin with. I had to keep stopping and starting for many weeks until I got used to it. Recharging is quite quick and power lasts for about a fortnight. The heads collect debris... (read more)

Had my Sonicare HX6972/10 for 2 years and 1 month so now out of warranty. It recently started switching itself on (sometimes in the dead of night) which was a little unnerving. I then noticed that you could not select all the programmes on it. I put the brush on to charge and noticed the charging lights had condensation inside. Clearly a seal has gone allowing moisture ingress. Surprising when it has never been dropped etc and always wiped clean/dry after use. For a product that has an RRP... (read more)

I am glad that others described their Philips issue. I bought the Philips Sonicare (HX6972/10 FlexCare+ Rechargeable Toothbrush with UV Sanitiser) as it looked so good. In less than a year the battery barely held its charge. Philips happily replaced the unit. Again, less than a year, that replacement has packed up. My partner has an (ugly) Oral B, but it keeps charged a long time and has not failed. I am switching to that brand now. Bad Philips!!!! (read more)

my mum bought me mine as a present it lasted just over a year and broke I contacted Philips as I was disgusted how much these cost and for it too only last a year is ridiculous they did replace it but now my 2nd one has just packed up and I have had just over a year I would never buy one of these again even when the half price offers are on my partner has had an oral B which cost 25.00 and his is still going strong and I have now had 2 Philips to his one!!!!! don't waste your money buy a... I have the Philips FlexCare toothbrush. It worked great for 18 months and now it is dying on me. I am positively sure that the breakdown is programmed in the micro controller. Of course I am not sure, but after reading all the comments (that I should have read before buying...) and after my experience and after talking to a friend who had the same problem I am pretty convinced. So you are not really buying it but paying a rent for the use of 18 months. By the way a pretty high rent... (read more)

No complaint about the way it cleans teeth but the thing croaked in less than 3 years even though I kept it well charged. And then the website is very inscrutable about that aspect. So, if you want to have good brushing but want to replace your device in three years, go ahead. (read more)

I was given a sonicare by my mother years ago. I used it for 2 months and it broke. I tried a different one later on, with replaceable batteries. It broke within a month! I swore never to get another and switched to a Spinbrush (last 1 lasted 2 years for 1/3 the price) My wife just received one for christmas, one with replaceable batteries. I told her it would probably break in a month or so. Lo and behold it broke after using it about 10 times! I don't understand how anyone can use these... (read more)

My sonicare made my teeth feel lovely and clean but it failed within a year. Boots replaced it. The second one failed after 18 months even thought I kept good care of it and was the only user. My Dad bought one too and has had exactly the same experience and was stalled repeatedly by Phillips. So neither of us are going to buy this overpriced, badly built piece of kit again! (read more)

My 2nd brush has just failed. The first was replaced by Philips after 1 yr. This made it to exactly a year also. Agree build quality is rubbish. Back to Oral B for me also. (read more)

This is my fourth Sonicare toothbrush. After the first two died I changed to their flexCare model which is expensive! Thinking this just has to be the best out there. How wrong I was, alas the same old problem. They are good for the first six months to a year and then they gradually shake themselves to death. They always die just after the warranty runs out! Philips are not helpful to replace units. So I've now decided enough is enough, it's time for another brand as I've had all I can take... (read more)

This is my 3rd Sonicare. The first one lasted 2 years, the second for only one year and the 3rd only for one year - and I am the only one using it. The On/Off button is not durable and has failed on all 3 brushes. Is is a good toothbrush but is simply not built to last and that makes it very poor value for money. I'm now going to try an Oral B to see if they're any better. Very disappointing. (read more)

This is the best toothbrush I ever had. I use to use another brand before and always problems with batteries and stuff. With Sonicare not only I haven't got any cahrging problems but also I have noticed a massive improvement in my teeth. Well recommended (read more)

I have just purchased the new 6792 Flexcare+ from the Philips Sonicare range and am more than happy with the features.
Yes it is very pricey but I luckily did not pay the £200 asking price but got it for £25, thank you Boots!!
It is the fourth or fifth toothbrush I have bought in the Sonicare range over the last decade or so. That includes my husbands so they do last well.
I agree with other comments that they need to be dried after use, but surely that is not a big deal.
The new one comes...

The phillips sonicare flex is a brilliant toothbrush for cleaning etc but just isn't durable, mine broke just outside the warranty period with 2 people using it. That's when I discovered that spare parts aren't available and that even the internal battery has been designed to make it virtually irreplaceable, all more profit for Philips at the expense of the environment with uneccessary waste going to landfill. I managed to open my toothrush up and if spares had been available I'm sure I... (read more)

The worst toothbrush I have ever had! Easy to use, not bad looking design but if you don't have a habit of proper cleaning and drying it every time you use it then forget it! Because of the moisture in the bathroom I have some kind of fungus growing at the base of the toothbrush. I never had problems with any other toothbrushes, but then again they were not made of rubber all around the handle. There are black spots very slowly growing on the rubber part and they are impossible to clean!... (read more)

I bought one one year ago @ £65. It was only running for a year and then it broke down. They would not offer me a replacement or repair it. I wouldn't buy it again and i would not recommend it to anybody - I feel I experienced poor customer care solution. Very disappointed. (read more)

We had the 4000 series model for some years and found it excellent.
It finally wore out and we got a 7000 series one a year ago. This did not clean teeth as well as the previous one and was a great disappointment. Teeth felt clean, but visibly were not as clean as with the first model we had.
We have now bought the Flexcare 9000 series with pro clean brushes, and within a week, could see results to equal the first model we'd had. Excellent toothbrush!
I do wish manufacturers would test new...
