I had to call AxA Assistance Breakdown Cover twice. I had to wait for about 90 minutes or so, but the service was excellent. Once the guy could not fix my bike, but he brought it to a garage more than 12 miles away and even took a detour to drop me off at work.

If you are going to Europe avoid this company at all costs. I was denied any assistance for 24 hours, the vehicle was taken to a garage which mysteriously could not be contacted for a further 72 hours. I was told AxA Assistance were sorry but were aiming to "minimise costs". I had to arrange everything myself and anything they managed to arrange was incorrect. Absolutely diabolical.

My lovely Citroen C4 broke down on the way to seeing my sister in Winchester. I called AXA Breakdown Cover and the mechanic was there in around half an hour. He was very polite and got me going again (apparently there was a fault with the battery) and I was on the road in around 20 minutes. Great!

    Would recommend!

I had the misfortune to breakdown with AXA and I found they got to me within 30 mins and fixed me within the hour. Thought they were excellent. Good value as free on my Carol Nash policy

My wife broke down in a multi story car park, the mechanic turned up on foot as his truck couldn't get through the height restriction. he was courteous talked her through the problem and then resolved the issue. My wife and kids were on there way again within an hour from the initial call.
AxA Assistance Breakdown Cover-Excellent from start to finish

Requested 7 day holiday cover to Southern Ireland, on top of my UK and Home Start Policy. I was told I would have to take out a one year european policy ... Couldn't believe my ears when they said no. Will never use again.

I had 14 days of misery at the hands of these people, and would warn anyone that is thinking of going with them that they are at grave risk of having their holiday ruined if they need help.
The first thing Axa ask when you break down is "when is your planned date of return to UK". To this you MUST tell them you were heading for the ferry home when it happened - otherwise you will not get the offer of repatriation as all they will do if they think there is half a chance of getting your bike/car r ...
