Good color, sweet raspberry flavor was pleasant but tasted very watered down. I was disappointed. (read more)

The one star flatters it, but you can't give no stars. Like others, I thought I would try and cut down on my wine consumption with an acceptable alternative. This most certainly isn't it - sweet and cloying, it is as much like wine as orange juice would be. Avoid like the plague. (read more)

YUCK! Was so looking forward to a nice alternative to red wine. I wasn't expecting much and this was a huge disappointment. Tasted like watered down grape juice. Not even worthy of 1/2 a star. (read more)

Very, very, sadly dissapointed. Having given up alcohol for lent after two weeks I was a little desperate for a lovely glass of red, and thought I could cheat. You cant. Looked forward to it all day,on opening the smell was encouraging but sadly that is as close as it got. Can only be described as foul, like a watered down grape juice with quite a sharp but also sickly taste. Not at all like the real thing by any stretch of the imagination. Kids thought it was cool though 'cos they got to... (read more)

Really bad! At first I was quite excited because it smelled quite authentic. I'm a huge red wine fan but being pregnant I have had to temporarily give it up! I was desperate for anything that resembled red wine so couldn't wait to try this. So disappointed. It had a vague after-taste of an awful red wine but the actual drink it's self tasted like watered down grape juice... only not as nice! I won't be buying it again but will continue in my search for a half decent alternative! (read more)

Each varietal of Sutter Home Fre takes like Welch's grape juice. That is great if all you paid was $1.97 to $3.99 for Welch's grape juice. There is no semblence of any traditional wine grape varietals. Fre tastes of Concord grapes, with a sugar content usually reserved for Kool-Aid based drinks at college parties . . . At $8/bottle you're better off with Welch's for the same flavor. (read more)

Gave it a second chance, because my mum also bought a bottle and didn't like it - it's definately growing on me slowly - would love to know the calorie count though - can't stop eating since I gave up the booze, and I'm sure this stuff must be full of sugar! (read more)

Found Sutter Home Fre 2005/06 Merlot much more palatable when well chilled and with a small amount of soda water to give it an extra zing. Would rather spend the money on a cheap bottle of red plonk! (read more)

Sutter Home Merlot was awful - I took a sip and then poured the rest of the bottle down the sink. My fiancee couldn't get the taste out of his mouth for ages. I'm always happy to try alternative products and usually like them, but this wine is terrible! (read more)

Perhaps people who like sweet wines would not find Sutter Home Fre 2005/06 Merlot as revolting as I did, but I could only drink two sips and then it was down the drain for the bottle. (read more)
