Unfortunately, This page will not allow me to give them no stars! My phone was stolen, whilst hidden under a towel on a sunbed, whilst on a cruise ship. Cityman will not replace, reasoning that this is not covered as it was whilst on "Public Transport". Presumably this would be the same for private jets, chauffeured limousines and the space shuttle!! “Dreadful, I've never been so angry”

My phone was repaired under the insurance agreement, but was not repaired competently. I sent it back again and they are asking for a further £25 excess, stating that there is further damage. THERE IS NO FURTHER DAMAGE. The damage seen is the original damage. I refuse to pay more money to this company. Do not use them. (read more)

I had a Galaxy S3 from Buymobile and was given the free 1 months insurance with Citymain. At the time I was not told about any excess to be paid on claims and a year into the payments have still not received anything in writing from them and no terms & conditions. I dropped my phone onto a concrete floor and cracked the screen. I contacted Citymain and they emailed me a claim form with instructions to post it back to them and wait for instructions as to where to send the phone. They took the £25 excess a week later, and two weeks after THAT I'm still waiting. Citymain haven't bothered to contact me at all, and I am seriously considering taking action against them. How hard can it be to replace a phone seriously? I had my phone stolen a month ago, and I'm still phone-less now! We sent the claim form off the next day, waited a week for a reply and after us making constant phone calls trying to get hold of somebody with half a brain cell, found they had 'never received it'. My smart phone did not take to kindly to being dropped onto concrete. Leaving me with a smashed screen. I emailed for a claim form, received within two hours. Completed the forms (simple forms), returned phone and forms by recorded delivery on the Wednesday. The excess fees were taken from my account a week later and the following day my phone was returned to me in mint condition. So in total a week and two days. I can not fault them. My phone was stolen on a trip to New York so I contacted insurance to cancel the phone and to process a claim. I got back and send them my travel docs, proof of purchase etc, it then took them around two weeks to contact my again asking for more evidence, when I asked why didn't you ask for it last time they said'that was the claim, now this is the assessment' that then took a further two weeks to process before I finally has a replacement. If you go to other providers they promise 48hr max wait for a replacement. I chased replacement handset twice and was told that when/if they receive a delivery then they will send on to us. I worked for citymain for a period of 2 months and during that 2 months i was shocked at how they handled customer claims. the process is said to take 48 hours to access the claim.....half of them there are so lazy that they cant be arsed. I had customers ringing saying that they were very unhappy and wanted to speak to a manager. the manager was there yet we were supposed to say she is not available. customer service in this company is at the lowest end of the spectrum with what seems to be... Please avoid all mobile insurance sold by or underwritten by CITYMAIN, this especially includes the widely sold policies sold by insureandgo.com. They claim to cover losss but only do so if someone comes up to you in the street and threatens to batter you around the head with a hammer if you don't hand your phone over. All other circumstances of LOSS on planet earth are excluded, despite them widely advertising that their cover does include the loss of your phone. It's about as shocking... (read more)

Having contacted Citymain with regards to this exact issue, they say that that exclusion is only considered in regard to a claim for theft, NOT for loss.

This is not made at all clear from the policy wording, but they say they are aware of and will be amending.

Still pretty poor and most likely to put people off even attempting to claim.

My HTC Touch HD phone died and i called citymain and explained this to them, they sent an email claim form which I requested instead of post, then a couple of days later sent a bag for my old phone. A couple more days pass and they agree that the phone is not repairable and send my a list of replacement phones. The next week i received the replacement new phone not refurbished. It's now 10 weeks since my iphone was stolen and I still don't have a replacement. I was sent a reconditioned phone that doesn't work, and was told I'd get a jiffy bag in the post to return it. 10 days later and the jiffy bag hasn't arrived. I sent off my Galaxy S II to these guys after it was water damaged. After a week I tried calling them for a status update, but they don't pick up the phone. I spent over £10 in 3 days calling their 08 telephone number, but they just don't pick up. I bought my insurance with Insurance2Go and my dealings with Citymain to get my phone back have been horrendous. They continually wait as long as possible before replying to emails and constantly request extra information at the last moment in order to delay your claim. NEVER USE THEM if you would actually like to receive your phone back. They may be cheap but they are completely not worth it. Cancelled within 14 days by fax after calling several times and getting no answere. Called several times after fax to make sure they had cancelled and again no answere. Have cancelled direct debit with bank. Total waste of space. I would advise getting bank to stop cash going out. There is no response to the number they have quoted to cancel the insurance policy... Nothing to say more than they have tie up with the mobile phone selling companies to trap the customer who forget to cancel the insurance policy.. One amoung is me!! Citymain handle the admin for Insurance2go. I've just put my review on under Insurance 2go - I phoned to make a claim at the beginning of April, they did not replace my Iphone for TWO MONTHS, despite me ringing every day to find out what was happening I was continually fobbed off by disinterested staff. When they did send a replacement, they sent the wrong phone! Most stressful two months of my life - I had to continue paying my Orange contract, and buy myself a PAYG phone to tide me over.... i am having exactly the same problem.. when i put in the claim orrigionally they told me 5-7 working days would be the maximum waiting period for them to complete but NO!! Here we are month later and i still have no replacement phone!! I was told after 3 weeks the my phone is not repairable and i would be issued with a choice of 4 phones as they are not able to get hold of one the same. I am still waiting for the choices and i dont believe i will be recieving it any time soon either! I call every day but am continuousely being fobbed off by as u say, disinterested staff! Not happy one bit what a terrible company. Needless to say there is no way i will be continueing with this company when this is finally cleared up. We were unfortunately in the same situation. The mobile phone of my son was stolen from the dressing room of a private school. We did all the right steps and told honestly what has happened. We got a letter back from Citymain highlighting that it was stolen from a public place, so they would not cover it. We pointed out that it was not a public place, but a private school. However they consider only family as private, and everything else as public. If we had been dishonest and had said that the phone had fallen out of the pocket of my son, there had been a bigger chance that they would have honoured the claim. This is indeed the last time we'll use Citymain for any insurance. Stay away from them. They only take your money and when you want to claim they point out all the exceptions rules.

If you buy a mobile from buymobilephones.net you will get one months mobile cover free with this company. However, they will start billing you for your insurance in advance before the month is up and will not refund it. Call them and cancel the policy as soon as you get the letter from them. Also the exclusions on the policy do not cover - loss or calls made on the phone when stolen. For theft, you have to have been threatened in person. I bought Citymain insurance to cover an iPhone, i am usually careful to check cover etc and this appeared to fit the bill. My daughter had the phone stolen out of her handbag during a night out. we did everything correctly, reporting to phone provider and police etc.Contacted Citymain and filled out the forms, they kept requesting further information which we complied with, they then rang my daughter and basically tied her up in knots asking questions which she answered honestly and openly.... They never sent me my full policy details, then when I try to claim (my phone was stolen) it seems that basically any claim that you try to make will be void, unless you are threatened at knifepoint and judging by above comments even that does not count. If you have the phone on your person, dont have the phone on your person, are in a public place, have it in your bag, are at home, accidental damage... basically it will make your claim VOID ie if your phone is lost, stolen or damaged it... Claimed for accidental damage to phone, was immediately asked for proof of IMEI usage to prove I was using the phone at the time I made the claim. When I asked why a member of the management team literally accused me of fraud stating she believed I had damaged the phone and insured it afterwards. Unfortunately there is no option for 0 stars. I actually tried to cancel this insurance after receiving the 2 months free but I was ignored. Just tried to make a claim for a stolen phone from a busy bar - again it seems like I would have to be beaten up in order for this to count as theft. I just read the small print on the bump that came with my phone from 'buymobilephones.net' this minute text is under 6pts and basically the policy is useless and does not cover the majority of problems which can occur with mobile phone loss or theft, - because of the many limitations of the small print. I didn't ask for the policy and I didn't sign a direct debit to Citymain as far as I'm aware but because life is just too busy I've only just identified that they have been taking £5.99 per month since last October. So I've just cancelled the policy and asked for a refund (I also complained about the type size!)
