As this fridge-freezer has gone wrong we have realised that this is the third Hotpoint product we've had that has been really rubbish.

All the plastic bits are cracking: it's just not up to standard. Shelves are all breaking; draws are breaking. We will not buy Hotpoint again. They're rubbish!

After 14 months of ownership a relay in the electical system broke down. It was repaired after 2 visits by Indeset repair men. I had a choice of paying £100 up front or taking out an extended insurance policy 0f £150. I paid niether and am being sued by Indeset. I reckon that these appliances are being manufactured to last just up to the guarantee period, they are making more from repairs than sales. never again, from now on I will buy anything but INDESIT

You will be astonished to hear that my HOTPOINT FF200EG developed a problem with the fridge getting really warm and the food going off - what a surprise!! My wife rang Hotpoint who wanted over £100 to repair a fridge/freezer that they must know by now has sustantial design faults and clearly is not fit for purpose. I thank all previous people who have taken the time to explain the defrost process which I will be attempting tomorrow. I will also be cancelling the engineer. I will also b ...

Hotpoint FF200E looks the business, paid a lot for what i thought was a good product only for it to breakdown after 18 months. compressor not working ??????????
Did not take out extended warranty as i thought fridge freezers rarely go wrong, unless of course it is FROST FREE.

Hotpoint FF200E leaks from bottom of freezer, freezer draws break easily, noisy, door is heavy, ice trays break easily, not much storage space in freezer, hard to clean, very unhappy with it.

Rubbish noisy and unreliable. Broke after only 2 years.

Two years old, just out of warranty, and now the Hotpoint FF200E fridge is as warm as the rest of the kitchen. Research tells me that I am the victim of a common fault with these, namely that the freezer unit hidden behind the back panel has clogged up with ice restricting cold air to the fridge. The only solution is a rip-off call out charge or to empty the whole freezer, use a hair-dryer to defrost the ice, then hope for the best. Hotpoint should be ashamed.

The Hotpoint FF200E is a large fridge freezer which we find fully effective. It has an automatic defrost, holiday setting and super cool button. The drawers in the freezer are a tad small but the worst aspect is the noise. Would we buy one again, probably not.

I've recently had the same problem of warm fridge and the freezer not working properly. My Hotpoint FF200E is only 2 years old. I read the reviews on here, particularly the one about removing the back panels from inside the freezer compartment so i did the same and removed the panels which is easy to do.Low and behold, sure enough, there was a massive block of ice formed around the freezer plate/element.I melted it with a hairdryer, the drainage hole was fine but i blocked this up whilst melting the ...

Bought this fridge freezer nine months ago, started having problems with it 2 months ago. Both fridge and freezer gradually stopped working, called out Hotpoint engineers twice so far with almost 2 weeks of waiting between each visit, still not fixed and third engineer visiting next week, appalling product and appalling service.

Recently had the same problem with the Hotpoint FF200E of warm fridge, cold freezer. Of course it was just out of guarantee, so the fear of calling an engineer out and pulling out the equivalence of a new fridge/freezer for the repair. I followed advice on forums:

defrost over night with doors open ... next day, remove back cover inside freezer (about 4/5 surface screws and 4/5 submerged screws), then remove casing with fan behind that by releasing catches on side (unplug the fan from back f ...

Ill never buy frost free again and certainly not Hotpoint, had mine 18months.But i think the freezer never worked as it should! The fridge packed up after we just moved it a little bit to decorate,I have been fridgeless since. But after reading your comments I removed the back plate and defrosted it with a hair dryer,I now have a working fridge but for how long I dont know!
The repair man sent out by the insurance people managed to break the backplate, and wrote a list of spares needed that Hotpoi ...

havin had other hotpoint fridge freezers in the past i thought that this FF200EG model, frost free would compliment my other graphite hotpoint products. now after just under 2 years it has developed a fault. the fridge is warm and the freezer too frozen!!!!!!!! reading others blogs i now realise that this must be a common fault in this model. Y were they not recalled when so many people began to complain about the same problem?????????? I am fed up with warm, gone off food every time I think i ...

Our Hotpoint FF200E lasted under 4 months before the plastic drawer runner in the freezer cracked. Hotpoint accused us of overloading the drawer, although the engineer confirmed it was a manufacturing defect. He "repaired" it by cutting a chunk of plastic from the wall of the freezer and replaced it with surf board repair putty! Next sold us the appliance and have refused point blank to offer us any help with dealing with it, even though it was faulty when then sold it to us.

The Hotpoint FF200E looked good in black finish (matches other appliances) took ages and specialist tools to swap door swinging ,problem developed after 9 months, reported to hotpoint service, who gave us a date for engineer to call and i would recieve a text between 8 & 9 on morning, took day off, no text, rang hotpoint service at 11.30, promptly told no job booked in ,would you like to make an appointment, earliest we can call 7 days unless we get cancelation.

At 13 months old in July 2008 my fridge stopped working. Just out of warranty, I had to pay £99 for engineer. Turns out that solid ice had formed in the freezer behind the freezer plate that stopped the cool air serving the fridge due to blockage. It measured 12 x 5 inch.
Jan 2009 the same happened again. I managed to do what the engineer did and thaw it out with a hair dryer! Solid block of ice it takes ages! This is a design fault that Hotpoint will not admit to - see the web, just goog ...

Like other comments on here. Fridge stopped cooling after 18 months use. we called out a local engineer who EASILY repaired it by removing the inside back panel of the freezer section ( after removing all baskets). behind here there was a big build up of ICE which he defrosted. The ice blocks up a small breather pipe and slows down the fan. Anyway I have to say now I've seen it done it would be extremely easy to do next time--Anyone with a little DIY skill would manage this no problem. JUST DONT ...

My Hotpoint FF200E was fab for just under 14 months, and is now broken - with Hotpoint charging £100 to come and look at it. Judging by the other reviews, it's not really worth fixing and I can't believe how short a period of time it has lasted. I will never buy a hotpoint appliance again and don't recommend this product to anyone.

Don't buy this Hotpoint FF200E fridge. Its ok for about 12 months, then the fridge doesn't work. This is not just a one off problem; the fridge stops working. No if this is to be fixed you have to pay a £99 call out charge just for them to look at it! What a waste of money.
