I have had three B&D lawn trimmers each bigger and hopefully stronger. All had prominent design faults either with the motor drive or with the fitting of the driving head to the shaft/flexible drive. Will they ever get around to looking at their failures instead of just bring out new models with the same faults. Also it is well nigh impossible to buy all but the simplest spares.E.g. I want new gears for my latest but all I can buy is a belt. The motor is as new but the plastic toothed gear is practically smooth - if I want a gear I must buy the whole motor. Never again will I touch a B&D product.

This is the perefect strimmer for, my garden and for me. the battery is simple to charge, easy to fit to the strimmer and lasts for as long as my arm muscles do. The strimmer is well balanced for easy cutting and safety the weight of the whole thing, quite manageable. The 'wire' is easy to replace and does not run out quickly.
Before purchasing I would like to have known how long optimum charging time for the battery is, in order to compare with other strimmers on the market.

My husband bought his B & D strimmer last season and thought it was great. However, this year the batteries (we were persuaded to buy 2 when we bought it) would not take a charge. What a nightmare trying to find where we could buy another battery. Still not had any luck, however reading other reports looks like they are really expensive so will probably buy a new strimmer instead. The availablity and price of a replacement battery should be included with the original purchase to save all this hassle.

I was initially delighted with this strimmer - it lasted the entire season with the battery life not good but acceptable. I thought it would be a good idea to have spare batteries for the next season but changed my mind when I realised they were almost the same price as the entire unit - so - I purchased 2 spare units. What happened? The first battery gave up the ghost at the start of the second season & the other 2 only lasted a few months before they also failed to recharge. What a waste of money? The local agent was no help saying that the batteries were really only meant to last a year or so. Some other expert said the fault lay with the Black & Decker charger. I purchased a petrol Honda Strimmer. No problems.

What a waste of money, I bought this black and decker glc2500 to use on the edges of the garden and around trees etc, but the charge barely lasts. Seriously do not waste your money on this. Ive had it for 3 days and its going back as not fit for purpose

I usually buy Black & Decker tools but this GLC2500 Reflex Lawn Strimmer was a real waste of money and in my opinion B&D should be ashamed to put such a tool on the market. Cord does not trim it only breaks every few yards.

The Black & Decker GLC2500 is a great all rounder, best I have used. I bought a bosh that lasted only 6 months and was useless as edging, this is far better. The only bad point is the battery life, I now have a replacement.

I would highly recommend this Black & Decker GLC2500 trimmer. It is versatile (head spins round with one easy click to allow lawn edge trimming, which is very effective) and it is so handy being cordless. No-one in our house minds doing the strimming anymore as its so easy and quite good fun! I've have had mine about a year and a half and its still working as good as the day I bought it. I have no regrets in my purchase and would buy same again.

The original trimmer line on our Black & Decker GLC2500 Cless Reflex Strimmer lasted well, but when it finally ran out, I fitted a replacement coil that only lasted a couple of times around the garden. I thought maybe there wasn't a lot of line on the coil, so I bought a 30m pack thinking that would be OK, but that is getting eaten up as well. Hopeless!

This is my second review.
The first was posted BEFORE I found a website with a spare battery for sale!
Once I saw the price I changed my mind. I could not in honesty recommend the B&D GLC2500 Strimmer. So.
Sorry B&D but you need to reduce the battery prices, or at least give a health warning for anyone buying the Strimmer!

My Black & Decker GLC2500 Cless Reflex Strimmer is not bad, but not as good as I had hoped.
I wouldn't like to put too much weight on the shaft.

If one does manage to keep a battery going then BEWARE. The motor shaft has only very small splines to secure the rotating head and they WILL strip out in the plastic.
I plan to make my own fittment as the motor is brand new.
