Have used the free version of AVG for 4years & found it worked Ok, but wanted to get a paid system on board as my machine does not always close down due I believe to a possible virus getting through from Microsoft. uh uh. You can't take of the AVG because it is in the registry and you have to purchase a removal tool to clear it out. Unless anyone else knows a way!!!

If you are looking for free antivirus software, AVG is worth your time. I have used AVG for a couple of months, during that time they released several patches for its software.
I discontinued using it once I read that AVG won't be updating the FREE versions anymore. That's the time I switched to Avast which is also a good antivirus software by the way.
Now, AVG again released a free version of their software, but I didn't go back because I feel more satisfied with avast.

Avg antivirus is one of the best free, popular antivirus available online, the positive part is it that it is capable of cleaning most hard to viruses, and about the User Interface part:it need better ui designing and should also be designed to use less system resources virus removal tools the website provides is also very helpful , its a great option for home users, but for business users i would recommend paid anti viruses like kaspersky

I started of using the free version, changed to paid about two years ago. Have found it to be worth while as you get constant upgrades, cannot think of a thing not to like about the paid version

we had downloaded avg, thinking and hearing that it was very good. we got more virus' and when we finally bought trend micro, it found almost 20 virus' on our computer. It slowed down our computer very much, and thats why we thought it was just the download size that our computer was messing up. it was not. I would have like to know that it would slow my coputer down, and that it is very hard to get the program off once.

Replaced McAfee, Norton and Kaspersky with AVG the free edition and even before my licenses expires.
Very easy to use, very quite and system performance is excellent with AVG.

AVG caught the viruses that were able to fully control my computer when using Kaspersky!!!
A full scan for an infected USB disk with McAfee resulted with ZERO threats detected!
Norton, my god! it kills the computer.
NOD32 at the office, all computer were infected once with a virus and the IT man got crazy :)

    Yes I had pr ...

Free. A lot better than no protection. Might be sufficient if used with other free software.

In my experience, doesn't detect all threats - Malwarebytes found high-threat spyware that AVG missed.

Maybe you get what you pay for.

AVG Anti-Virus Free always finds a virus (if you''re safe for a bit), it's quick and easy to use. Though I have to say I've only used norton before,

I have been using AVG for 2 months. It is very fast and easy to use. The scanning process is excellent and picked up 2 viruses previous system missed. It is easy to download and runs much quicker than previous anti virus system. No monthly biil. I am not a wiz kid on computers I found this system to be the most simple one to use . Free of charge. Simple to operate. Has choice of scan speeds

I think this one has been overtaken by its own popularity. Update server timeouts come and go like plagues. Updates themselves seem to be poorly written and implemented - AVG's FAQ website is filled with users complaining that after updates, the application says that the licence (often the free licence) is invalid and AVG must be re-installed. Detection rates have dropped too, which several other solutions proving to be more accurate and better at picking things up. This used to be the leader in ...

I used AVG for years without any problems and with great efficiency. It was easy to use and unsophisticated. Together with Spybot, Adaware and Ccleaner I was very happy..
The newer version arrived during 2008. This included all sorts of add-ons which slowed the system down so that a scheduled scan had to be done overnight not to interrupt using the computer as these scans took more than 3 hours to complete, which on a daily basis was horrendous. After using my computer, running completely no ...

First dowloaded it when recommended by Click on BBC...easy to install and use. Does everything you need a anti-virus to do and over the last few months has served well.

Obviously for office environments you have to pay

    Recommended.

4 of the different parameters disabled themselves without any reason. Left me with no anti virus, if this did not happen I would download again. I could not enable them again.
There was no way I could contact AVG with the free version. It was with reluctance I removed AVG. Well recommended anti virus software.

Im not really happy with this software, compared to AVAST, AVG does not stay up to the mark when compared to the free versions category I feel.
The old versions were better, the new AVG free is of not that help, therefore I do not recommend AVG Anti-Virus Free.

It's an ok product but I seriously wouldn't recommend it. There are more reliable free scanners out there. It missed a virus I had on my machine. I managed to locate the virus's DLL's and EXE's myself, yet AVG reported them as being clean when I scanned them.In the end the virus destroyed my operation system and I couldn't boot (thankfully I backed up my data recently). It has also returned false positives on clean files many times (mostly anti cheat software for online games).

It's free, works just as well as Norton, McAfee etc, but doesn't grind your system to a halt. Great piece of anti-virus software. Why pay for expensive software that hogs your system resources when you can have AVG for free. Well recommend AVG Anti-Virus.

AVG is the best anti-virus there is online and free downloadable, efficient in ensuring internet security without having to spend a fortune. Basic internet security but very effective. User friendly, you don' t have to be geek to know how to operate and the rest of the AVG system performance.

I have used AVG for years on all my machines and never had a problem with any of them. I ran an internet cafe for a few years and got to compare AVG with Norton, MacAfee and Kaspersky. AVG always came out on top in detection and cleaning. I now repair PCs, and the number of them that arrive here virussed and trojanned with Norton and MacAfee on them (but not updated) astounds me. AVG cleans them all, and so far no one has returned with the same problems. Humans being humans they always find anot ...

AVG Version 7.5 is free. Simple. Seemingly effective. Caught viruses from my USB.
I feel if you have Windows Vista, there is no reason to go for a paid version from Norton or even AVG (version 8.0) unless you are a heavy, high risk taking computer operator. Avg free version will be enuf because, Vista is good and bad when compared to XP. I still miss XP's simplicity. Like a Nokia you start loving simplicity. But Vista has a firewalls and more layers of protection. Further Search engines like yah ...
