“Great machine!”

The Stihl FS45 strimmer is a great machine, we have about 5 of these cutting grass every day as part of our business and considering how hard we work them they don't let us down. I reckon it would last a lifetime in a domestic garden.

It all comes down to the service. I bought a Stihl brush cutter: it broke three times in the first year - and the second time the agent charged me $75 to fix it - and it still broke! The point is that THEY decide whether or not it is covered by the warranty (and it's not in their interest to have it covered!!)!! (The agent was Tas Chainsaws and Mowers in Launceston )

★★☆☆☆

Having owned a 15 year old Stihl for many years until it finally died, this FS45 is very poor in comparison. It cannot cope with really long grass, goes though line at a rate of knots. Bump feed failed after the first few times of use and now the starter cable return spring has failed. Not impressed.

“Forget the rest, buy this Stihl Petrol FS45 and you...”

Forget the rest, buy this Stihl Petrol FS45 and you won't be disappointed. Forget the sub £100 offerings from the high street, this is worth every penny extra for the £135.00 paid. The cable can cut through pretty thick grass and weeds, but for thicker weeds and more woody stalks, buy the optional polycut head which glides through thicket with ease. A quailty piece of kit and easy to start too.

Can you please tell me what the tank size is for an FS45C and how many mls of oil to put in? Do not have a manual. I put 20 mls of oil in, but think that was too much. What should I do? You can see I am real beginner on this:)
