Perfect - Excellent food - Superb service was the comment from 45 guests from as far as Norfolk, Cornwall, Wales and Spain at a celebration lunch.
held in the upstairs dining room but same menu as in the Brasserie.
Congratulations to all the Post team. Reviewer tip - Don't take any notice of old reviews.

I have just celebrated my son 18th Birthday party for 20 guests in the Post. Lucas and his staff couldn't do enough to make the event special and the service was great. The room upstairs is superb the mirrors gives it a special feel. The leather swivel chairs comfortable and a little bit special. We were able to put a menu together, welcome drinks and wine on the table for £30 a head. Its Party shop in Cheam Village came on the day to decorated the room with an selection of balloons table... (read more)

I have eaten in the post now for over 2yrs and have yet to be disappointed by either the food or the service. Top marks for the innovations luca has brought to the Resturant.
I took a party of ten to try the new Sunday menu and at £16.50 a head was sceptical that the Resturant could live up to it's general high standard. But they achieved this with ease we had a great lunch and will happily return (read more)

ABsoulutely the worst place I have ever eaten in. Full of pretention with no substance. I once ate in the coffee shop with colleagues and we were clear that we were on a lunch break and only had one hour. The surly waiter said that would be fine but despite several polite reminders the food came after 1 hour 10 minutes. We were the ONLY table in the coffee shop and I could see through the the bistro and there were no diners so NO excuse! As we left we asked to pay separately and paid and... (read more)

One of the best places I have ever been, brilliant food brilliant service. Having been to the Post quite a few times now I can't understand some of the reviews. I have been to some of the top restaurants in the country and the world and I have to say this is truly a delight to have this on my doorstep.
Its never disappointed from a business lunch to a romantic meal with the girl friend.
All of the friends I have recommended to the post have come back with brilliant things to say.

Dreadful service-food and place. Will not go back! This place has gone down and down. Waited over an hour for 3 jacket potatoes!!!! No decaf coffee in the coffee bar! No apology or mention of 'goodwill' coffee.
Hated my visit to the upstairs restaurant and Bistro and now coffee shop. Rubbish! (read more)

Went to the Post upstairs restaurant for a birthday meal in a group of 8. On arrival were told the others hadn't arrived and would we like drinks. Ordered and then told rest of group already upstairs. Reataurant lighting is too harsh, decor is old fashioned and place is totally lacking in atmosphere. Main course was very good, but standard of food doesn't justify the high prices. When dessert orders were taken a request for coffee was completely forgotten. Although we were the last people in... Went to the brasserie on Saturday night for my Mums birthday. Mediocre service from inexperienced staff. Light, bright (too light and bright) surroundings. Ridiculous confused menu. Terrible food. There is no effort at all put into the food here. I had the spicy lamb burger in foccacia bun. This turned out to be some awful premade nonsense with painted on grill lines and the bun was some flaccid dry pointless cardboard experience. Really bad value at £12. This is the worst kind of out of the... (read more)

We had lunch at Post. The service was OK but the food was over-priced and tasteless. You could get better food at any one of the bistro chains. I wrote a letter of compliant to the manager but got no response - says it all. I would definately not go back. (read more)

This is first restaurant I have ever been to (I am in my late 60s) where I did not receive a welcome on entry, was shown to our table in silence and given menus in total silence. Temperature in restaurant was very cool. Two women wore their coats and scarves throughout meal but no hint was taken. Restaurant manager never came to our table to ask how was our meal, and took most interest in his wife (or family member and her two young children). My tortellini was extremely good, and also... We had a business lunch for 10 people at the Post bistro in Banstead.NEVER AGAIN! The atmosphere was bland and boring - bright lights, canteen-style tables with no tablecloths.Service was poor;we had to wait ages for our second course. We had to request jugs of water twice before they were delivered. The food was over-priced;my starter consisted of a tiny quantity of salad leaves and a few shavings of smoked salmon. I felt like running next door to Pizza Express for one of their fantastic... (read more)

We went to The Post last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We booked about a month before when we were led to believe the price would be £18.50 per head. Went week before to check all o.k. and were told that, despite nothing to that effect on website, December price is £35.50. We also ordered a birthday cake at extra cost. To be fair snow and ice meant taxi got stuck and we were late and were told on arrival that many diners had been unable to make it either Friday or tonight. ... (read more)

Went to the Post coffee shop expecting great things. However after being totally ignored for 10 minutes or more [it was far from busy] I walked out!
Went to Cafe Italia just down the road and was served immediately.

Post was a great disappointment. Felt the waitress was trying to get rid of us too quickly by constantly coming up and asking if we had finished. The pasta looked as though it had been hanging around and was stodgy and inedible. The lamb kofta was dry and tasteless and did not seem to have been freshly prepared. (read more)

Having eaten here at the Post in Banstead once, I would go out of my way to go back again. Banstead has plenty of franchise chains, but this is the real deal. I haven't yet visited the restaurant upstairs, which is under the wing of the great Tony Tobin from Ready Steady cook, but I've looked at the menu (mouth-watering) and wandered up to see it. A very different, more intimate feel than downstairs. (read more)

Banstead isn't exactly a culinary Mecca. Prior to post there were the usual suspects on the high street; zizzi, pizza express, Indian, Italian. To get a guaranteed good night out with great food I had to go to London. Post isn't the cheapest restaurant in the area, but it has never let me down in terms of service or food. The brasserie is good, but the restaurant hidden upstairs is a real gem, something else. My recommendation is to go for lunch, you can get two courses for £16 and the veal... (read more)

I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. The place is a pleasure from the moment you walk in- funky decor, amazingly good staff for whom nothing is too much trouble, and who appear as if by magic the moment you want them, delicious food, an extensive wine list all at reasonable prices. With the fine dining restaurant upstairs and coffee shop on the ground floor there is something for everyone whether you're celebrating, wanting lunch or just a coffee. As far as i'm concerned its a no... (read more)

We had a lovely evening at Pizza Express.
Yes, you have read that correctly. Let me explain: 2 weeks ago, my father booked Tony Tobin at Post for my mother's birthday, having read a favourable review in a magazine.
So, this evening, we drove to the restaurant, looking forward to a family celebration. When we got upstairs, we gave our name, and were met by a slight look of alarm.
After 5 minutes, the gentleman who appeared to be in charge said that they couldn't find our reservation, but... (read more)
