My husband and I have been using this for about the last 8 years and have never burnt. We always allow at least 30mins before we go out in the sun and get a gentle even tan during our holidays. I loved the spf 20 but this is discontinued so we start on the spf 15 and go down to spf 10 the second week if there isnt a heatwave. It smells lovely and spreads extemely well over the skin. Having read the other reviews-it seems most bad reactions come from the spf 30 so maybe thats where the... (read more)

For the last number of years myself and my husband use Biz Buin 1 Day Long lotion on 2 sun holidays a year and any bit of sun we happen to get at home. It is brilliant and we never burn. Our daughter, who is fairskinned and redhead was using other products and burned and blistered. She started using this a few years ago factor 30 and never looked back. She goes on adventure holidays, water rafting etc. and only uses it. Our problem is that we use Factor 10 1 day lotion or if... (read more)

I applied this on my first day of being abroad on my own. That night I started to develop a rash on my back that was getting itchier and itchier. In the morning I woke up absolutely covered, head to toe, even my ears, in small itchy blisters. I spent the day in bed with lots of water, fruit, air conditioning and frequent cold showers trying to get better. After 2 days of this and no improvement I decided it was time to get myself to the hospital, where they looked shocked and gave me steroid... (read more)

As with most previous comments I to came out with a rash similar in characteristics to 'prickly heat' all over my body. It can only be the Piz Buin one day long SPF 30 product. I have no allergies to anything else. Ruined my holiday in Lanzarote. But have been helped by the hydrocortisone foam and Kalamina Lotion bought from the pharmacies here in Lanzarote. I have taken pictures of my rash. Did someone say they needed some pictures to supply evidence?? Happy to help if so.. (read more)

I recently purchased this sun cream and applied one application to my chest and arms. At first all seemed well but within 24 hours I started to come out in a rash on my chest which then spread to my arms over a further 24 hours. I visited my doctor who agreed I had an alergic reaction and advised me to take antihistimine tablets and cream. One week later and the rash was no better and the itching had intensified. I so wish I had checked this review site out before I bought this. Am on my 2nd week of a holiday in Gran Canaria. I bought Piz Buin 1 day long sun cream in factor 30 and factor 15. Week one with factor 30 I developed a great tan, probably the best I have ever had and was really pleased. I am fair skinned and can burn easily and this cream was just great. Then week 2 I switched to factor 15 and within a day I have developed a terrible rash, big lumps and bumps all over me that itch like mad... (read more)

Hi, I am so relieved to see your comments re: piz buin 1 day long. I did not piece this jigsaw together until yesterday, and wondered tonight am I alone! I used this lotiion last September during a 2 week holiday in Corfu. Have use P20 numerous times in the tropics and caribbean before with no issues and on my very fair skin, have faired ok. chose this product entirely because I was sick of the yellow stains from P20.
cannot tell you when exactly, but within a few days developed a horrific unsightly rash, which in the heat itched a hell of a lot! We also had been advised by our rep, because of the multitude of Mosquitos to use a well named brand of repellent, being told it was the only one which would work! coincided with application of piz buin one day long unfortunately!
I took the mosquito repellant to blame and continued to blame the rash, the itch and the ugly appearance as being from the mosi product.
it was miserable looking like you had German measles!
this weekend past I have put the same piz buin on my arms, neck, upper back as I was out gardening. Did not do my face or legs as I wore 3/4 trousers. fine on the Saturday I did it, but by Sunday tea time, I thought I had prickly heat, which is not me! (apart from the issues in Corfu). By Monday early hours I was like a cat on a hot tin roof itching, and did not know what to do with myself! by Monday morning... omg! My face around my eyes and cheeks were so swollen I looked I had aged 20 years and had facial sagging! My skin was so raised raw looking and itchy to my arms and upper chest and back of neck. (exact places cream was applied to!) I had to go to work as I had a meeting! had to apologise as my eyes felt almost closed at times and I was very self conscious!
As the morning wore on I realised it had to be the piz buin as I had exactly the same reaction as in Corfu. The only difference was the facial swelling issue with my eyes and cheeks! As a nurse I know allergic reactions etc, may present as mild in the first or second instance but a further instance could react in anaphylaxis! Not saying it would for me or you, but just be aware! This product is not good for some people at all! I have just googled to see the range of issues people have had and feel relieved to know other people have had the same issues and commented! Hope this helps someone else too!

Why are the manufacturers continuing to market this product when so many people are suffering an allergic reaction when they haven't been prone to sensitive skin previously? I wrote to them last year to complain after my husband's holiday was ruined after using this product and the only response received was that I had to return the product and received a replacement hypo-allergenic cream in its place, which we would not think about using. Such a shame as we have used piz buin products in previous years with no adverse effects. I agree with the reviewer, it isn't worth taking the risk of using this product

Your story sounds exactly like mine. I had a mysterious rash last year.. even had food testing done as was racking my brains what could have caused it! It took 6 weeks of torture before the rash eventually disappeared. On Saturday 18th Aug, I put Piz Buin on my arms, chest and top of back. When i woke Sunday morning.. I was covered in the same rash on all the areas I put cream on!! Devastated but glad at least that I now know the culprit. The doctor prescribed me anti-hestimines & itch cream... both of which are useless.. so now on steriods. Hopefully these work.. Has your rash started to die down??
