Where should I start? The corridors in the hotel are shabby and in need of attention. On entering the room there was a distinct musty smell and on opening the en-suite door it stank of urine. The shower base is filthy and the toilet isn't working properly. There was damp on the ceiling, and water damage to the carpet, windows are rotten and aren't shut properly creating excessive noise. The bedding is incomplete, I can feel the springs through the duvet! There's only one plug socket available. Would definitely advise not to stay here.

“My wife and I booked to stay for 2 nights on a b/b...”

My wife and I booked to stay for 2 nights on a b/b basis. We were given the keys to a room on the 3rd floor, whilst walking along the corridors on our way to the room the smell of stale cabbage was obvious, the corridor walls were peeling and cracked. Our room was very small and stunk of urine, there was a small shower, wash basin and a toilet. We examined the mattress and found a large red stain on it, there was no way that we were staying there. On complaining to the reception staff we were given the key to a room on the 4th floor. again we walked along the narrow corridor on the worn out and dirty carpets, the walls were peeling,on arrival at the room we saw that the tiles in the shower were covered in black mould, the room badly needed re-decorating and smelt damp.Again we went to the reception and were told that all the 'good' rooms were full and they had nothing else. There were several other couples complaining at the same time about their rooms. We were all offered another rooms but were told that they would be exactly the same quality. We got a full refund and drove home.In its day 1908 when it was built it was probably a good place in a good location, however today it is a in a rough area, the hotel in my opinion is a disgrace,I am 64 and have stayed before in poor hotels throughout the world, but this is the worst I have ever seen.
