Good Points: Quite addictive Simple controls
Bad Points: Graphics Very slow Some missions can be confusing
General comments: Endless Ocean isn't really a game, It's a simulation of scuba diving. It may be too relaxing for some. Its more sunday afternoon gaming. It is great fun.
I have spent hours investigating the marine life and features of the sea bed as well as making friends with several cute fish and a zebra shark!
There is a lot to do and see and play with even though it moves at a slow pace. You do lose time out of no where once you get into a trance. Which is easy to do with this game. This is exciting and emotional so long as you're not in a excitable mood and have time to relax on your hands. If you get bored or wish for a more aggressive experience then this isn't the game for you
The attempt at simple controls are perfect for the game as the limitations imposed by having to move by tilting the Wiimote means you move, float and change direction as loosely as you might really swim in sea water with currents pushing you around and structures that loose you your orientation.
Everything is one handed, allowing you to treat the game as a group activity, passing the remote about leisurely. The fact that you find yourself in many situations where the nature of the game mechanics allow you to be at rest, watching the camera follow a creature without the need for interaction. You'll find loads of moments where the game presents you with a great view of the life presented in the game.
The representation of the marine life and environment are very well created and animated. There appear to be loads of creatures to find, interact with and teach. You can also laugh at a few fish that have decided to follow you.
My friend was impressed enough to buy it for his Wii so we can swim in the same location using the internet feature.
It also has an educational value with various levels of information on each creature along with their common and latin names. It takes some of the interaction elements from Nintendogs when getting close to sea creatures - you feed them or you can stroke them.
This is a great simulation of the best diving experience you could have in real life. Its still better to do the real thing but if you cant then this is a good way to have fun and pretend.
