The Navman S50 still proves to be a popular contender within the Satellite Navigation industry. However, after reading our reviews you feel the S50 isn't exactly what you're looking for, then perhaps take a look at the new Navman S50 3D, which uses the latest map data to display major landmarks in fantastic 3D graphics on its huge 4.3 inch widescreen display.

When I click :Home:, it has no idea where I live. When 100yds from our bungalow the voice asks me to do a u-turn. Several streets before it asks me to turn right which would be ridiculous. On the A1 I am constantly told to take the 2nd.ex at theit roundabout; there are no roundabouts where I travel. When new roads are constructed to bypass cities I am asked to take a ridiculous route. Tapping in the postcode is easy. Sometimes it has proved to be excellent but I would not recomend the... (read more)

A good all rounder but they need to sort out the windscreen fixing as it will not hold to the windscreen after 1.5 hours on the journey, also the battery needs to be sorted as the fully charged cell dose not have a good run time. and will not hold its memory on stand by for more then 3 days from fully charged, on another note as I have perchest the NAVMAN I think all maps and camera upgrades should be FREE other then these hiccups, I wound buy another NAVMAN.

I have had this unit for 2 years now. It went through a period of locking up a while back but not done it for a while now. The unit locks itself to the screen very securely and really takes the stress out of driving in unfamiliar areas telling you what the next junction will be and how long until you get there as well as ETA in distance and miles etc. on a big clear screen. The 'back on track' and post code search are brilliant. There are various map display options including zoom in and... (read more)

In my opinion one HUGE problem is the safety alert subscription its RUBBISH. I have had ONE update from Navman S50 in 5 months. Customer service keep telling me to check my spam filter ect ect.I have asked for my money back on several occasions or someone to contact me. I would not trust this one inch!. TOM TOM was great so will be buying one of those.
On the whole the unit functions ok and is easy to use. I still dont trust it gets to where you want to go using the best route as it was...

Should have got a Tom Tom. It can ' t work out my home address; it seems to think we live 7 houses away. Can ' t enter house names. It has roads missing from the UK map. On one map it has three houses missing. Those have been around for about 500 years. (read more)

Potentially best on market let down by faulty in car charger and Navman's customer service is really poor.
Software wouldn't work on vista
Unit wouldn't sit when in cradle
Screen kept defaulting to European options every time it restarted
Sat nav returned to shop after 1 week.

I've been using my Navman S50 sat nav system now for a few weeks and it's quite good. I've used a few cheap sat navs in the past but the Navman S50 is probably the best. I find the menus easy to use and the signal is accurate enough to be something like within three or four metres.
The only real problems are the crazy windscreen mount - it keeps falling off! Whatever I do and however I do it, it still drops off after a while. I want to find an dashboard mount which I can fasten to me...
