Went recently to the Fox and Goose, Fressingfield after reading a few reviews elsewhere and then looking at the website. We went at lunchtime and it was just prior to them opening the refurbished bar area. To be honest, the menu, though looking delicious, seemed to have too much going on with a lot of ingrediants in each dish. How wrong could we be? Normally I take the "less is more " approach but, with all the dishes we chose, all the ingrediants worked very well together. Portion sizes were good (I think the big white serving plates made them look smaller than they actually were!), presentation and service were excellent and I can honestly say that it's probably, all in all, the best meal Ive had. My wife always bemoans the fact that you search so long to find somewhere that does great mains but then find that the desserts are nearly all bought in. Not so here. Very wary of all the things going on in my banana mousse dessert (a sort of very upmarket banoffee ) she was completely won over by it, wanting to get the recipe direct from the chef and forcing me to defend my pudding. Will we go again? You bet. Cant wait to do one of their taster evenings as soon as we can get a babysitter. Would thoroughly recommend - and it really is very reasonably priced when you look around and see what is served up elsewhere for the money.

Incomparable tasting heaven. Michelin means memorable! Artful presentation predicts and then complements fragrant, balanced food. The extra treats were unexpected and equal to our previous, highest rated excursions. Delicious desserts are a creative triumph. All staff were relaxed, efficient, attentive and thoughtfully reflected our mood. (Clever!) The cost was a surprise...we expected at least £30 more for the four of us. This was a fortunate discovery! (And was merely lunch!)

They change the menu regularly, which keeps it interesting and fresh. The Fox and Goose in Fressingfield have a lot of local produce on the menu, and I believe that they make the bread etc on the premises. The style of food is very much up to date, and it encourages me to try new things.
    Love the free taster courses!
There is always a warm welcome which makes you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the meal, and the service is professional, yet they are friendly with it.
