I went to the Tupelo, Mississippi store January 15, 2015, with a friend who was looking for a new suit. We could not find a single person in the men's department to help him find a suit. I finally went to the customer service counter and told them there were no salespeople around. They said they would call a manager. A lady came out of the back and told us there was no one scheduled to work in the men's suit department that day. But she would send someone over to help us. A 20 year old girl came over. I asked her if she knew anything about men's suits, and she said no. I told my friend that we were going to Reed's, a locally owned store, because they had people that could help fit him. On the way out two white male employees were talking to a black lady employee who was pretty mad. She threw her glasses on the floor. One man was trying to soothe her. We went to Reed's, and a salesman greeted us immediately. We told him what we wanted. He found the right fit jacket and pants, a blazer and slacks, and two shirts. He marked the pants to be hemmed, took the labels off the jackets, and took the stitches out of the pockets and pleats of the jackets. Don't bother looking at Belk's unless you want to help yourself. And there is never anyone around to check people out in the ladies department either. I have to go to three or four checkout counters to find someone. I have wondered how fast someone would show up if I just walked out with the stuff.

My wife and I saw this new store open up at this new shopping center. We are always looking for great deals and this this was the best store ever, we got great discounts with opening an account. I purchased some mens button-up shirts, a belt and a pair of shoes. The pricing was somewhat reasonable but after about 8 months, my belt started falling apart, the sole of my shoes cracked open, and a couple of my shirts started coming apart at the seams. I really thought i was buying clothing of the same quality as JC Penny's or Sears but that is not the case. I plan to close my aacount there and never shop there again!!!

Belk's has the worst website and worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. Will not let me pay bill on line, although I have paid on line in the past. Get message my account not eligible for on line access. Customer service personnel do not know why I cannot access my account, which I have had since 1997. Will be closing my account and will not be shopping at Belk's in the future.

At the store I waited 15 minutes for a snooty sales manager to finally come over & do me the favor of waiting on me. (She had looked my way & turned her head several times, trying to ignore me.) The advertised product not in stock at store, was told it would be shipped from Dallas to Sherman TX in few days. 1wk later I still do not have my package. The fragrance did not come from Dallas it came from Charlotte, NC. If I am ever foolish enough to go to this store again...which I doubt, if it is not in stock I am walking out the door to make my purchase elsewhere.

I ordered 8 place settings of Mikasa Dinnerware from my local Belk's store. They were on sale, and because they didn't have them in stock I was given free shipping. They charged my credit card. When I didn't get a confirming email, and couldn't register online to see my order, I started calling Customer Service. I was assured twice that everything was OK and my dishes would ship soon. By the 3rd call I was very upset, spent another 1/2 on the phone and was told this was being submitted to "Administration" and I would be hearing back in 48 hours. Sunday morning I received an email saying that "due to unforeseen circumstances"...no other reason given...my order was being canceled and there would be no charge to my credit card. I checked my card and there was no charge. However, I wasted 1 week, drove to their store and spent time calling Customer Service 3 times only to find out they don't want my business. I will never, ever do business with Belk's again.....there are a lot of stores and internet companies that treat their customers with respect. This was despicable....be very careful about ordering from this company.

I ordered an item on 6 days ago. Since then, my order has been "In Process." No shipping date has been indicated. I have called the customer service department almost daily and have been getting different responses varying from "my item will be shipped sometime today" to "I have no information as to why your order has not been shipped since your item is in stock." I am very disappointed with Belk. I only ordered from them because of one of their sales. Needless to say I will never order from them again.

I just came out of the Georgetown Carolina belks store after returning several items. hello I can say is it sure would be nice to go into a store be greeted with a smile rather than the horrible attitude the to Clarks I spoke with had. they made me feel like I was in their way and I was ruining their day well I left them with my smile I sure would like to have gotten a smile from them. you know if you don't like your job get another 1 but please don't take it out on your customers.

I've shopped at Belks for several decades. Unfortunately for the last two decades, this store has shown serious signs of decline, chasing corporate profit while ignoring the customer. My local stores are located in Lincolnton, NC and Gastonia, NC- and both of these stores are just absolutely horrible. It's rare to find more than one or two people working in the store and when you try to find help in any department, you are wasting your time. This chain only sells the lower quality but higher priced clothing (Saddlebred, Geoffrey Beane, Chaps, etc) and often the merchandise on the racks has strings hanging out and it's not rare to find dirty or stained items on the racks as well. This once great department store has been ruined by the same thing that has ruined many others, good ole American greed.

I was going through some of the clearance jewelry and came across two bracelets that I liked. Well both were missing price tags. I went to check out and asked the lady if I could find out how much those two bracelets were. I also told her I was over there for about 20 minutes and sorting through the jewelry because it was so messy. She said no and just took them away. I was very disappointed bc it was two clearance items and I thought clearance items were to get rid of. Will never waste my time again shopping here.

I went to Belk in Cary Town Center to return 2 t-shirts that I bought it few weeks ago. Receipt, labels, prices are still hanging there. An employee at the counter, name Mary, do not look happy, asking me : "is there any thing wrong with that?" even she know the merchandise are still brand new in front of her. I asked her back: I don't know, what different is make if I just wanted to return? She rolled her eyes with another customer and explained to me that she just want to know what is wrong with it so she will put it away. I do not see any store asking customer like her, I felt a bit of harassment ( I'm Asian!. I think Belk need to improve the customer service.

Saw an item I wanted online, due to my area recently changing zip codes (about 18 months ago) the computer system Belk has could not recognize it, I called customer service to place my order and was told to call up a belk store as they couldn't go ahead and place my order, either that or go into one (I live in AZ so no stores around) I tried again using my previous zip code and at last placed my order, that was 3 days ago, today I received an email saying "We apologize for the inconvenience. Due to unforeseen circumstances, your order cannot be fulfilled at this time. Your order was cancelled and your credit card was not charged" I had read other reviews on how bad this store is, now sadly I have seen it with my own eyes.

The customer service is horrible. I've never had worst experience dealing with a retailer in my life! I ordered my daughters almost $400.00 dollars in merchandise for xmas, they cancelled my order with no good explanation, in an attempt to try and re order I find out that they are holding the funds on my credit card from my cancelled order. I couldn't have belk holding $800.00 of my money for 5-7 business days so I had to wait to re order, why I didn't stop there I don't know and of course there was nothing they could do about it, by the time I was able to do anything half the items were out of stock when I finally received what I was able to order my order was 4 items short, again with no explanation..wow, and now I'm being told the 20% discount they were suppose to give me will be credited after xmas. The prices are great but the headache is definetly not worth it, Belk is the worst store I'v ever dealt with in my life, Merry Christmas..NOT.

I ordered a gift card online for my mother's birthday. It should have arrived exactly on her birthday, but it didn't. I called when it was 2 days late and was told Belk had 5-7 BUSINESS days, which gave them another day. When 3 more days had passed and no card I again called Belk and was told really they had 7-10 business days. Needless to say, three weeks later the card still has not arrived. The best the Belk customer service could do for me was cancel the order and refund my credit card IN 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS!! haha And, for her birthday, my mom will receive a devalued Belk card. Happy Birthday, Mom! I will never shop at Belk again, and I will be sure to let everyone and anyone willing to listen know why!

I feel I experienced a seemingly unprofessional staff member at Belk. Today on December 29, 2008, I went to Origins because I was going to make my usual purchase because I really enjoy wearing their makeup, but I walked away displeased and very disappointed in one of the Origins counter sales people. One of the women was questioning me repeatedly on what kind of face care do I use, and I told her that I used their organic face wash and other organic products that I have purchased at the health food store. She said, 'Well, our line is the only line that has the official seal of USDA organic, and does your products have that?' I said, 'Yes. I not only use organic products but I also eat organic products as well, so I am very aware of what to look for.' She then, told me 'Well good for you.' I found her personality to be far from professional and she lost my business for good. I could not believe she was hired to work the counter at Origins.
Well, it is plain to see that not only our economy is suffering in so many ways, but the stores as well. One would think that the employees would treat me as the customer with respect, so I would keep coming back. Apparently not! I used to think highly of Belk, but now I walk away wondering what is happening to this company. I feel that someone needs to take customers' concerns into consideration because it is us consumers that keep stores in business.

I think Belks has some great items but they need to take better care of their relations with their card holders. They have some nice things but their sales people can kill a sale. WalMart is so successful because they do not give the customer a hard time when they return something. The average person will buy more than the item they returned if they are not given a hard time. The joy of getting your money back so easily will make you spend three times as much. When you give a customer a hard time that customer is going to tell at least 3 other people about how they were treated. Don't you know it's easier to spread bad news than it is to spread good news. People will remember the bad no matter how good your product help. Some of your sales people and managers need some serious motivational workshop on how to work with the public. Trying to find a manager in your store is like finding a needle in a haystack. This is what I call poor customer service. Wake up Belks!! You lose one customer today but we both know it starts with one.

Belk's department store really have decent clothes, and mostly affordable. I usually shop there on sale days and stuff, and I get very good deals. I went the day after Christmas and saved about 800 dollars. I got a pair of 7 for all mankind jeans for 48 dollars!

I too see a decline at Belks. The store I am talking about is Belks in Savannah, GA. The young girl behind the Ralph Lauren cash register did not want to life one finger to help me. Rolled her eyes at me when I asked about a simple white tee shirt. She then yanked my credit card out of my hand because I was not fast enough. Customer Service is non-existent. I complained to the manager, Jennifer, and she said she would send me something, Something never came. I complained to the national manager over all stores, and he had an "I don't give a &%$%%$ attitude and would send me a gift certificate. Gift Certificate never came. This is there way of getting me off their back and to SHUT UP! I not looking for hand out, looking for common decent service. Plus the store is a mess. So crowded with stuff, you can't make heads or tails out of it. It's a holy mess! Plus it's darn filthy! I've spent lots of money with Belks, since 1969, and it's a Pig Pen!!!!!! I tore up my credit card and will never, ever, ever, ever, ever go back. They are a nasty company.
