Written on: 22/10/2012

I had the worst experience of my life with some people that call themselves professionals,in a very well located neighbourhood in Chelsea London,to be more precise 250 kings road. They were apparently very kind and helpful but they had a purpose to steal people s money. No transparency,no prices list nothing,u spend there 6 hours being happy u got your grupon or amazon voucher for cheap and at the end comes the surprise, £2000, come again!!! for 100 pics with 4 outfits only,5 times more... thank you for the response..... that seems like a good idea. however i took a loan from ezi pay who who were recommended by a double take employee and was also authorized by double take studios. i also found out that at the time of me purchasing my photo shoot package in Oct 2011 they went into administration during Nov 2011.... they did not contact me regarding this..... At the moment i am still paying for something that i will never get from double take studios... i am scared what if i do contact the bank try stopping the direct debits i get into trouble! :O

“A Bittersweet Experience”

Written on: 26/06/2012

I went to Doubletake in Manchester in August 2010 with my cousin. I was replacing my other cousin who could not attend. I had been shocked at the fact that a huge cancellation fee would have to have been paid for non-attendance. the experience was marred by the fact the riots took place in the vacinity of our hotel the night before the shoot and when we asrrived at the Studio, we were stressed from this and found it difficult to relax. I have read some terrible reviews about this Studio and... (read more)

We went and had a lovely experience too, though we went mid october and are yet to recieve our photos, we've chased a few times and still haven't recieved them, they told us they have been dispatched (and prior to them going bust they were due on the 16th Nov) then I finally spoke to someone yesterday who said I might never receive them or get any money back, this is bitterly disappointing due to the fact we should have been near top of the list of being completed and now I might never see the photos or my money again, have you received yours? Well I must admit, I have heard they were going bust but too late cos I had my day on 8th november. They have used my card to purchase music downloads from a company called BEATPORT based in Colorado. Be careful and make sure that your cards are not used in this way. I have now contacted the Police and obviously my bank and are waiting to see what happens now. Good luck

“You'll Feel Ripped Off & Get Nothing”

Written on: 07/11/2011

Makeup & photography were cookie cutter, that is, they do about the same thing for everyone whether it suits you or not. They put you in poses that look ridiculous and cheesy and are not suited for you. After the shoot, you're put into a room alone with a salesperson using very hard sell tactics hoping to wear you down. You'll be lucky to find even one photo that you think captures the real you and you'll likely look worse than you do in real person. My friends saw the photos and thought... (read more)

“A genuine, honest review of Double Take.”

Written on: 06/11/2011

First off, I'd like to point out that I was the "guest" of the person who had been offered the free gift. My girlfriend had been rung by Double take, who had told her they had received her number from a friend. Since it was the kind of thing she seemed interested in, she said yes there and then, and gave a deposit. It wasn't until she told me, that I got a bit wary. I did some research, and I was hit by a wave of negative reviews. We couldn't cancel at this point, so we ended up going... (read more)

I read the comments and want to add something more: I was there hoping to get quality pictures of myself, but when I came there it became clear that there are no professional photographers there. The pictures that they made were of extremely poor quality. When I make pictures of myself with usual camera I look good (im 30 and i look much younger, I look like 25 y old), but what they did is making me looking like Im 75-year old granny on all pictures. so, beware! and they tried to charge me... “Overpriced and amateurish”

I went to the Birmingham branch of double take studios. Admittedly, I was suspicious from the beginning and no it isn't really a free photoshoot. The people were very friendly but obviously a bit fake as they are trying to sell. I was expecting a bit more though. The 'fun' part of the day is very rushed, and the rest is a lot of waiting around. It was OK, most of it, I didn't mind, my makeup was a bit amateurish so don't expect to look like a 'goddess' unless you have never seen yourself... (read more)

The makeup artists were OK but NOT trained hairdressers so i would advise visiting a professional hairdresser first. The sets were quite shabby. Also we went yesterday and all the staff were amazing and friendly, made you feel special and amazing. I think prehaps youve gotten confused because 100% double take studios doesnt photograph kids at all, only over 18s, and the most they photograph at once is 2 people. I think theres another place nearby it thats awful, that may of been where you were.

Not being funny but you get told on the phone the photoshoot is for over 18s only and they dont allow kids in the studio because their not a creche, and it disrupts everyones experience. Also the charge of 120 is for the price of a normal ticket to get a photoshoot there, and they charge you this if you cancel too late basically because it wastes the photographers/make up artists etc time. I understand that its difficult when you have a child but you make arrangements to get a babysitter, and if you cant do that then you can say no to the photoshoot and you wouldnt of had any bother. We went yesterday and had the most wonderful experience. Every staff member was lovely and kind. Im not surprised you were escorted out, when you know no one under the age of 18 is allowed in there.

“Me and my friend went to the Doubletake studio in...”

Written on: 22/04/2011

Me and my friend went to the Doubletake studio in Manchester, we arrived early and they greeted us with a drink and asked to fill out a questionnaire incase we had changed our style ideas. The make up/hair stylist then went through what i had chosen and made sure it was okay at every opportunity she could. Had a nice head, hand and arm massage aswell. Then we took about 6 outfits each but only could have a maximum of 3, so we talked through the different sets with the photographer who was... (read more)

Trust me you are not the first 'victim' of Doubletake! I went there last December '10 and im STILL in dispute with them regarding the wrong pictures that they sent out of another lady and them still wanting to charge me for them! I told them i did not want the photos or anything to do with Doubletake and i just wanted my £100 deposit back and £48 direct debit payment. They said to send the wrong disc back and they will look into cancelling it so, i sent the wrong disc back to them via recorded delivery and wait for it.. They LIED and said they hadnt recieved the disc when there was a signature on the royal mail track n trace website!!! I filed the compensation form with royal mail and they did their investigation and confirmed Doubletake HAD signed for the disc - of course.
So now 5 months later of them harrassing me for £1300 for photos that i didnt receive, i sent several recorded delivery letters to their head office and NO reply back, i decided to give them one more call before i took them to the small claims court and oh guess what, they cancelled my account!! But oh wait, they said they're keeping the £148 for the 'contact sheets' WTF?? So.. How much are contact sheets really worth?? Trust me babe, its not over, i want my £148 back or better worded i AM getting it back!
xx

The best part of my day was the free mini bitesize twirl I got whilst waiting a good hour!

I arrived with my twin 20 mins early like they ask you to even though you have to be there for 5 hours in total as it is. Got told to take a seat and fill in the questionnaire which I had already done online and waited without being offered a drink. My twin got called in first in which I was left by myself then for most of the 5 hours. Make-up was alright, hair no different and a 2 second hand/arm... (read more)

This is EXACTLY what happened to me and my friend too! I've also upset a lot of my friends by putting their number down because doubletake constantly call and try to sign them up! We didn't end up buying anything because the prices were extortionate and the sales lady turned really nasty. In fact she upset my friend so much that she had to walk out. Definitely wont be going back there again and don't recommend you should either.

DOUBLETAKE ARE RUBBISH! I had my photoshoot on the 4th November 2010. it is now the 5th april and the gift vouchers i was promised would be sent out to me STILL haven't arrived. I have tried numerous time to chase them and it's just not happening.

The day was great apart from the VERY PUSHY woman trying to make us pay for the photos. She wouldn't give me & my friend time to read the contract and we had to sign there and then and give our bank details. We were not allowed to cancel and the... (read more)

Honestly. Any bad reviews are really unjustified. . . The prices are LISTED ON THE SITE not hidden. . . Any charges are CLEARLY explained and shown in paperwork. . I dont ser how people can call this a con. I went and loved my day, there was a soft sell at the end but nothing i couldnt decline, if your honest about what money you have, they will match your budget (mine only being £50)

Nothing about the day was sinister, its such a good laugh.

If you dont expect tons of pics for free, you... (read more)

I agree with you on this one, However be very adamant from the outset in how much you would like to pay before entering into any sort of agreement.

As for me, I did attend DT, and have to admit that I loved every single minute of it from the actual makeover; photo shoots, the photographer up to the receptionists.

They explain everything right from the word go, nothing is of any secret, all I can say is go on treat yourselves, why not? I know I did, in addition to not being bankrupted at the same time.

Double Take Studios,

when i got offered to come down to Double take studios i thought it wasn't optional and that i had to go, when i wanted to cancle my appointment i was told that it would cost me and my friend £125 each person if we didn't turn up or cancled our appointment. So that isn't a very good start as that i think in very stupid. secondly then ring and text you most of the time to let you no all the deatils again even when you already know.

Hi there I've worked at that place and the management are not far off being total dictators, we only have to turn up with the wrong socks and they fire us. The pay is terrible and your treated like school children.

Now for the client experience write up, from a former insiders point of view all they want to do is get your money, the whole day is one big act.

Starting with the smiley receptionists followed by the sweet make up artist and then the charming photographer, then it all goes... (read more)

I found this review very helpful because it's the truth - i have had the displeasure of working at DTS and it really is one big con - why on earth would anyone wanna get into debt for £3000 for pictures - PICTURES OF YOURSELF - HELLO - duh!!! To be fair the actual day is usually really good - it's just when you're in that viewing room does it all go down hill. Word of advise don't take your wallet with you and tell the viewer "no means no - let me sign the form so i can leave". Good luck people!

Really lovely day out! Includes pampering, free drinks, lots of sweets and snacks etc. Me and my partner were treated really well by everyone. The studio was soooo busy but we weren't forgotten about, if we asked for a drink it was brought over to us quickly. The hair and make-up team were great, noisy but great. I looked so different but I loved it (so did my fiance). Our shoot was called 'harmony' which means that we got most of the photos taken together, I would have liked more on my own... (read more)

READ THIS PEOPLE!!! DONT JUST READ THE BAD REVIEWS, IT IS OK IF YOU GO KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT!!!!!!!
OK so I was scared to go to double take after reading these reviews, but I didn't want to get any charges or even argue with them do went anyway.....and was actually surprised! After reading the reviews my friend didn't want to come but I called the studio the day before and they said as long as the person who booked it came, it would be ok.

“DO NOT USE! ”

DO NOT USE!
Absolute scam artists! I bought the experience for myself and partner in November (actually paid for it!) and went along for the experience. We had only planned to take the one free image away but turned out it wasn't free anyways. They'll also get you to fill in a referral sheet for friends, that are then called constantly being offered the shoot for free.

The sales people try every trick in the book, even offering finance if you can't afford the full amount. DO NOT PAY! They... (read more)

DO NOT FALL IN TO THERE TRAP!!!! My friend recommended me for an experience day (some friend!) and the woman on the phone made it sound sooooo good that I booked the day and paid £10 deposit. After getting off the phone I thought it sounded too good to be true so I looked at the reviews online and was appalled! And made me and my friend instantly not want to go. I rang read the terms and conditions thoroughly and rang them the following day of booking my appointment to cancel. She started... (read more)

Written on: 20/03/2011

When you walk in you feel like you are in for a fantastic day, this feeling does not last. Though the pictures were good...the 'experience' was not. They double book their stylists and photographers. So very badly organised. Very rushed. They did not make my experience feel personal to me...felt as though I was on a conveyor belt. Highly disappointed considering the money I paid. No courtesy call to apologise for ruining my expensive day! (read more)
