Totally sham, they giveaway gasoline coupons to make you join and after that they sell away your personal information.

“Deceitful”

Questia's business model seems to be centred around tricking customers into signing up. Don't even bother with the free trial - sometimes it is advertised as a seven-day trial but it actually expires in one day, and you will almost certainly end up paying something. Customer service representatives are incredibly rude. Don't throw your money away - there are so many good, free alternatives. (Google Books; Gutenberg...)

“I signed up for their free trial service. Since I was...”

I signed up for their free trial service. Since I was taking a summer class in World History I needed to find some good sources. I must have used it only a couple of times. By the end of the month I remembered I needed to cancel the service. When I checked they had already billed me again. The first time was fine, since I didn't cancel during the trial period, but the second time was not. I cancelled the service and requested a refund. As others have already complained, they REFUSED!!!
I wonder who's the idiot that own and runs this company? Why alienate your own customer base? None of the customers who cancelled, got charged and were refused a refund would want to EVER do business with QUESTIA again! I know I NEVER will. Companies with good customer service want to make sure they leave the doors open. Most companies I've dealt with have been courteous enough to honor a simple request and have a charge refunded when it was obvious their services were not being used or if the customer simply forgot to call in on time. It's called a "one time courtesy refund", and it goes a long way in keeping a customer very happy. They usually return in the future knowing they were dealt fairly with, knowing they must cancel before the next billing cycle. The payoff is that the company is referred for having excellent customer service. I always have. I've referred Dell, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Comcast, Vonage, etc, etc, etc to many friends and family who have bought their products or are currently using their services. Talk about a company who's got very near sighted STUPID people at the top as their Executives. They come across as a company whose only concern is to make money no matter at what cost. Their refusal to reimburse a mere $20 ends ups costing them in the long run future revenue. However, they do make sure their $20 charge buys them a load of "bad" word of mouth. With the internet as a platform, it doesn't take much for a company's reputation to go down the drain pretty quick. BUYER BEWARE!!! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! IF YOU RUN INTO A PROBLEM they have the absolute worst customer service!!! I will definitely refer them, as a BAD COMPANY though!

I found this review somewhat helpful because...it indicated a problem with subscription refunds

I signed up for this service and never used it. It was extremely difficult to cancel, they had lousy customer service--and they still ended up charging me for the next year. Definitely not recommended.

Questia is a good service in theory, but a rip-off in practice. They are repeatedly cited for unfair billing practices (unauthorized billing, difficulty canceling, etc.) and despite that have a "no refund" policy that allows them to squeeze out of giving any money back.
