    Needed to claim from Columbus after a trip to the hospital with my son in Florida. After getting release from the hospital, after the handling company successfully faxed the required forms, all seemed well. On return they requested the £100 XS payment, although strangely insisted that this was a requirement for them even to investigate whether the claim was valid. We then hear nothing for 6 months before debt collection calls from US. Many many many calls later, lost files etc etc. Official complaint asking for a decision notification before refering to ombudsman finally got them moving. Life is too short for this BS. Try someone else. Direct have worked well in the past so I'll return to them.

    Daughter (age 21) travelled with six friends to Turkey for a girlie break. Two days into trip suffered burst appendix. Insurers could not have been more helpful, settled hospital bills, kept in constant touch,paid for my flights to accompany her, even upgraded flights home business class so my daughter would be more comfortable, arranged wheelchair assistance at all airports and then provided luxury car from Manchester to Leicester. Fantastic service would recommend to anybody.

    I needed to be covered quickly for a on the spur trip to South Africa - The Columbus Direct Travel Insurance team there were very helpful with my pre existing medical conditions and everything was done in about 10 minutes. I haven't had to use the insurance for it's purpose so i cant comment on that but overall it was a pleasant and reasonably priced experience and i will use them again and again.

    I felt I had to comment on the excellent customer service I received from Columbus Direct. Rather foolishly I left reading the terms of my policy until a few days before my trip. I was going with my girlfriend to Spain and we booked the cover as a couple. The definition of a couple is a married couple, or people who have lived together for a year. My circumstances are such that there is no easy way of proving that we have been living together so assumed I would have to pay extra premium and mayb ...

    I have bought annual travel insurance for many years, but this was the first time I have needed it. It is six months now since I broke my leg/ankle in South Africa and needed an operation. I am still getting reminder bills and threatening emails from the hospital for unpaid services. At the claims department, my file is never where it should be and their system is always down when I ring, it is a wonder anything gets done there at all. They not only lose bills, they also lose '0's off the amount ...
