Postern of Fate reads like it is a series of aids to memory which Agatha Christie jotted down before working it into a novel - it is as though someone else found the notes and published them. The book is 'bitty', goes nowhere and a lot of the conversations between the main characters (Tommy and Tuppence) seem to go round in circles. One line in particular stands out as particularly ludicrous when Tommy askes Tuppence if she has heard from 'Betty, our adopted daughter'. As a fan of Agatha Christie I can only say I'm glad this wasn't the first book of hers I read - I'd never have read any more and she was an excellent writer - this book excepted.
