We got this fitted under the warmfront scheme. What a total load of rubbish. The water will not heat up unless the heating is on. This problem has been fixed five times now but it keeps going wrong. I am looking to replace this boiler as soon as possible. There is no way I'd recommend this boiler to anybody! And it's noisy too.

Absolutely Terrible! I have a council house and when i got told i was getting double glazing and a new heating system installed i was delighted. So the days come around very happy with the windows and doors. Then it comes to the big pile of metal they stuck in my kitchen and called a boiler!

In 3 years I have had the council out to fix it. Several other times I have called them out "there is nothing wrong with it" Hmm why would I want it checked over if nothing was wrong?!?

    Anyway the problems ...

    Isar HE 30 combi boiler.

Housing asociation new build property, so this will be third winter from brand new. Boiler looks smart and is an A category so economical, and my housing association do come out when called, they just refuse to keep the spare parts, and have to order them by post, so its days or longer if holiday times, Im left cold and no hot water.

First winter water kept going cold and hot intermittently and rad temp dial on the wall didnt want to work unless I clicked back to zero ...

Excellent comissioning and inspection, complete from start to finish in 4 days. This includes ironing out initial problems.

Commisioning engineers, prompt, dilligent and pleasant. One initial leak from a small radiator, quickly fixed.
I don't like the re-pressurizing protocol, valve is awkward to get to and requires a screwdriver. This makes controling the flow of water back into the system difficult.
This problem should not re-occur for sometime now system is primed and leak is fixed. I won't ...

Excellent comissioning engineers, got on with the job. They found it a little difficult explaining the pressure recharging features to my wife who is a technical 'don't do!'. (owon't do, more like). Initially, a leaking radiator pipe. This is of course NOT the fault of the boiler manufacturer, but the comissioning engineers. Hence 9/10 not lower.

The Ideal ISar HE30 is a good boiler, relatively cheap with modern safety and economy features.
    Reliability: Too soon to tell.

Just had it fitted under a grant scheme. Not yet switched on.
I've given it 10 by default, but this will be a dynamic review so watch this space.

My first review on Ideal Isar HE30 instalation - March 08 - I gave a rateing of 9
I can now confirm that I continue to award a 9.
It would have been a 10 except for the first 3 months I had a problem that in the winter months. Nov -Jan 08/09, with outside temps at freezing, when the system went off at 10pm. The water left in the draining pipe would freeze and when the system started up at 6am it could not drain. The engineer in January and after a few visits increased the angle of the drain pipe ...

Having read the adverse comments I took proffesional advice from a qualified independant corgi engineer. When first launched the Ideal Isar HE30 boiler had reliability problems due mainly to using off the shelf parts. Parts of the boiler where redesigned using custom designed parts and a new PCB. Over the last 2 years the reliability problems have been sorted. However it must be correctly installed the system flushed out and the correct chemicals used. Also scale and filters fitted.

I do not recommend a Ideal ISAR. I bought an Ideal ISAR around 2002 because the Energy Saving Trust were offering plumbers the boiler at cost which represented a saving of @ £200 over the list price and there was a 2 year warranty. I wanted a condensing boiler from a energy saving, eco point of view though condensing boilers were quite a new thing at the time and most plumbers would not quote me on an installation. It needed 2 new PCBs within the warranty period and a user control. After ...

The problem with sites like this, is that people only ever leave bad reviews, because they want to moan about stuff, quite rightly so, but I'm an engineer, I work on all different kinds of boilers everyday, worcesters, vaillants etc, they've all got their own problems, just read the reviews on this site!! proves my point perfectly. I know for a fact, that my local parts center (plumb centre) holds more spares for worcesters than any other manufacturer, I know the manager well as I hold an accoun ...

Had my Ideal isar HE30 bolier just over 2 yrs & it's bit the dust. Just had a vokera boiler fitted the hot water seems far hotter & so are the radiators. Plus if anything were to go wrong but hoping not, the parts are a lot less expensive than the Ideal isar. I would not reccommend ideal boilers.

I brought an Ideal Isar combi boiler 4 years ago. It has had numerous faults and our family has been without hot water and heating for a least 3 weeks. I would not recommend this product and will be seriously considering replacing it.This has also been the experience of a fellow employee who had one installed a year before me. His experiences are far worse. It is our opinion this product is flawed and a total waste of anyones money.

I have had an Ideal Isar HE30 for 4 years & have been without heat and hot water for 4 weeks of every year.
components faulty on a bi-monthly basis,
    water leaks regularly,
cannot get insurance for this product,
    poor water pressure
small water leak can cause massive internal damage
value for money??? I don't think so

My old baxi back boiler was a Rolls Royce compared to this- 25 years and just the odd coupling but my Ideal Isar HE30 has needed a new pcb about every year, only had it in 2003 and it's had 3 - noisy as hell.

When it was working. i.e. within 6 months of a new build the heating was excellent. Never had much pressure though.

Has an enormous rumble when switching from heating to water and the whole apartment block has had the same problem. Also ours has been leaking for about a year!

Absolutely shocking considering it is only 2 years old.

I have a IDEAL Boiler HE30. Fitted by the HES Group, from Scunthrope. i have only had this boiler for 6 weeks and it has never worked well with out some from of manaual intervention; i ether have to bleed all the radiators and then add some water to even out the pressure. the boiler is always running down - there no pressure. I have to say this is the worst boiler i have ever had to deal with. Whats more i got it under a Govt grant scheme for each the govt paid 3k !! surely some one in the Gov ...
