Have used it through one winter and the fan is screaming like a banshee. Over 700 to have replaced. This is ridiculous ????

Bought this heater 3 winters ago. Laser 730... first winter was fine, last winter had to have service... nothing major. This year sitting here looking at it in several pieces because the blower motor went out! After 2 winters!! Repair man, plus parts is over $600.00. A third of what I paid for this junk!!

Have installed these in my last two new houses. They have performed flawlessly for over 20 years. Efficiency us so much better than standard furnaces.

In October of 2017 I bought one of two Toyo - this one was the 730. In Nov 2018 we turned it on for the season and it was making a loud rattling noise. When I say loud, I mean LOUD. It is behind the dining room table and if someone is at the table and trying to converse with someone 15 feet away, they can't hear them. Then the small Toyo we bought, the display had some issues. Still haven't time to deal with that, it was under warranty at the time, but you know life happens and other things become more important. On Nov 14 I wrote out my issue with the 730 to the Toyo fax number and never heard back from them. Again, life happened and we just put up with it. Now after a few months of that a visit from the service man is $127.00 - and that is to diagnose. I have one more Kerosene Heater I need to buy and at this point it won't be a Toyo. As Arianne says....Thank you, Next.

I puchased the laser 73 12 yrs ago, and I have had zero problems with it.It is the safest way to heat my home, and it is very quiet.I would recommend one to anyone.

This heater has worked flawlessly for seven years. I have burned kerosene, fuel oil, and diesel. This is the second I have owned (left the 1st in the last house), and they have both been excellent. High fuel economy. We heat our large old home with 150 gal. through the Toyo and 5 cords of softwood per year. Easy installation,(in a regular wood wall) and you can find used 2-300 gallon fuel tanks for way under $100, I bought a good one for $25. Not as good as wood heat,(if you cut your own) but if you are ever going to leave your place in winter, you have to have something that thinks for itself. 3 thumbs up!

I have had laser 72 for 6 years, came with cabin I purchased. It had been in use for 5 years before I bought cabin.
Product is great. Had 1 tune up when I put it into service the firstyear. Has worked perfectly ever since. I would suggest if you are having problems to get better grade of fuel.
This heater is cheap to operate and easily heats my 1000 sq ft A frame cabin. Should it ever go out, I am purchasing another one.

Why can't I find a place on the internent that sells replacement parts?

I put my Laser 73 into service 12 years ago. It has had light to moderate use. The first burner chamber that came with the stove was poorly designed and failed after about 6 years. I replaced it with the gaskets after it burned through the bottom and fumes became fairly strong. I waited too long again to overhaul the heater another 6 years and oil started leaking again partly becuae of incomplete combustion. I fixed it again and as has been noted the burner matt and two gaskets need to be replaced on an "overhaul". Its taken me a few years to figure this out but the bottom line is that about every four years they have to be disassembled and the heat exchanger washed out and the burner mat, fuel nozzle gasket and packing gasket replaced. I am guessing parts at around $75 and if you had to call a service technician who knew how to do the repair it might be $250 or so. The bottom line for these heaters is you have to clean them out and replace the burner mat about every four years. RuralEnegy in Anchorage Alaska has been helpful plus they have posted instruction on the repair on the internet.

Removed my 175,000 BTU oil fired forced air furnace 5 years ago and went with the Laser 73 heater. Installed twin 275 gal kero tanks and have a years worth of heat. Fuel usage went down 50%. Electric bill went down 25%. Liked it so much I purchased their Kerosene water heater too! 1/2 - 2/3gal per week usage for all the hot water I need. Use only K1 kero and run it on high for 15 minutes before shutting it off for the summer to clean out the exhaust fan or it will freeze up come fall. Then you have to spin it with your finger to free it up.

REVIEW UPDATE: Now in year 9. Still no problems. The only annoyance is with all the service shops that claim to work on Laser heaters that started working on Monitors first. They all think the Lasers need a yearly "overhaul"! It's not a Monitor! These work!
To keep the water heater happy with hard water I installed a 1 micron cartridge filter in the water line feeding the water heater. Then I installed a Clearwave electronic water softener. Now, no scale buildup or particulate matter getting into the Thermister hole and plugging it up so itm can't react to incoming water temperature. Finally I added a 42 gal "tempering" tank to even out the well water temps between summer and winter.

I use this types of Toyotomi Toyostove direct vented heaters already for more than 20 yrs , the only thing I had to do was changing the burner mat , or sometimes clean the carburator , I don't understand why people has so many problems , one thing keep in mind that you have to use low sulfure kerosene , because most of the problems comes from bad quality kerosene , I also add an additive for cleaner burning.

The Toyostove Laser 73 heater is complete garbage. It's unreliable and should not be used to heat households. I found that the unit constantly fails to work and the pipes in the house have froze and will require $1000's in repairs. If you think that Oil prices are high and volatile, Kerosene K-1 prices are much worse. Recently paid over $4 per gallon in Long Island, NY.

I disagree with this review because... I did never have problems with Toyostove direct vent heaters , I use those already more than 20 yrs , most problems are caused due to bad kerosene use , I also add an additive that keeps the burner clean. The only maintenance I do is changing the burner mat every 3 yrs , and sometimes I also clean the carburator.
<br/>Ask for low sulfure kerosene because those heaters are very sensitive , Toyoyostove say that their new types also run on Biodiesel but the importer in Belgium don't recommend to use this kind of fuel after several tests

America is in need of energy effeicent heating devices and this Toyotomi Toyo Laser 73 certainly qualifies as more efficient than most untill you factor in the prices for parts and the cost of labor to maintain these little 'nightmares'. I hope that some outfit in America decides to get in the game and make mine obsolete by building a better, more efficient, cheaper to maintain and more reliable unit.

We have owned our Laser 73 for about 5 years now. It ran good for about a year, then required an overhaul of the flame chamber. (needed replacement of burner mat, burner ring, flame chamber gasket, and top seal gasket...to the tune of around $98) Then has required similar overhaul at about one-year intervals. The burner ring ALWAYS is horribly warped upon inspection, after several months use. IMO, this is due to poor engineering design. Why didn't they fix this problem, before launching the product on the market? We also replaced the ignitor once (about $75).
If I had to do it over again, I WOULD NOT buy this particular heater...

Would definately buy another one!
