I've just had a very tough 24 hours with Global Gold. They provide a really limited back end, meaning that any issues on your server have to go through their team. Their phone support is only available from 9:00 - 17:30, but if you phone them they say they're support ticket service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have been a customer of Global Gold for a couple of years, and recently it has been a nightmare trying to resolve a relatively simple issue with their customer support team. A couple of examples: "Sorry the webmail system we have put on your managed VPS is not written by us so if you have problems it's nothing to do with us". Not really the point, is it - they are providing this as part of their package to me. Also being quoted £100 for one hour's work that I find out within 3 minutes... (read more)

Been with Global Gold for a good ten years, super service, excellent help could not fault with Tim in charge, then it was sold a couple of years ago, from there its all down hill, rubbish customer service, unhelpful, their so called 24hrs a day 7 days a week helpline turns into a reply 28hrs after, this is probably because they have so many complaints that they take an age to get through. I would not recommend using them, I am just moving all of our 30 websites away from them now. Beware! (read more)

Our support agents are available Mon-Fri 9.00-5.30pm via telephone 0845 250 8008 and 24/7 via our support ticketing system. Support tickets are usually picked up in a couple of minutes although during busy periods we aim to respond within 24 hours.
Please email customerescalations@globalgold.co.uk with the details of your support ticket and we will investigate further as this is certainly not the level of service we aspire to deliver and do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Had emails from your staff about the problem that suddenly drupal sites stopped working after a year or so so thats 4 sites down at the moment, they said I am on a virtual server so they can look into it for £50 an hour, they didnt know how long it would take and they cannot guarantee they could fix as they are not drupal experts and do not know anything about it. We have not touched the server or changed anything. We have downloaded one of the sites onto another server and it works fine on there so as far as I can see its a Global Gold problem.

These guys are extortion experts. I ordered VB hosting for 12 months and the forum didn't take off. They tried to get payment for a 2nd 12 months, card declined. They suspended my service....fantastic easy. 2 years later they are bringing me to court for payment of a service I didn't use or receive, In their words this service was active, in their official email this service was suspended back then. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I was officially notified1 year and 10 months ago the account was suspended. Yet your legal team was reluctant to listen to my side of the story.
Also I booked my hosting manually with your excellent sales rep (who I believe has left the organization) , and clarified in two emails I only wanted 12 months contract.
I am still under threat of court proceedings for payment for 2 unwanted and unpaid contract. Keep away from these guys. Its all about the money and no longer about the client.

We have been a long-term customer of GlobalGold and until the business was bought out by what must be some form of cowboy operation we had no complaints and would recommend GlobalGold to anyone needing good service and good prices. Now, our sites are down every other week and when we manage to get connected to their tech support (quite hit and miss) you hear that they "have a server down" and "hope to have it sorted quickly". Had server issues for 2+ weeks now and support either doesn't know how to fix the issues or they simply don't care! If your site is up 100% of the time for the life of your account you will be ok, but the second you have issues you will get no support! As it is now unless I get access to my cp I will not even be able to move my site to another host - its more or less being held hostage right now! (read more)

When I joined Global Gold about 5 years ago they were fine but over the years have become increasingly poor. This year my email had gone down many times and customer support is more or less impossible to contact. I would imagine the reason I can't get through by phone is because I am at the end on a long queue of disatistied customers. Avoid this company. (read more)

GlobalGold was taken over or absorbed into a large organisation and overnight it went downhill. I'm a customer of over 10 years (lifetime in this industry) and the past months (Spring/summer 12) my sites have gone down, mail stopped working and trying to get through to someone who can actually help is a nightmare... This company is nothing short of dreadful. Contracted to host an MOD recruiting website they have failed to meet their contract three times in five weeks. The company could not even complete a simple request to fulfill the job which they are paid to conduct - citing "Data Protection" as a reason. pathetic. (read more)

A once-good company gone very, very bad. Having given them my email hosting business since 2008, was recently mis-sold an add-on service by an utterly clueless sales rep. I am still waiting - nearly two months later - for a refund, despite the add-on being removed by technical support. To add insult to injury, if I raise the issue as a ticket it is closed automatically - with no response from their side - "because there has been no activity on your question by you for more than 5 days".... I moved to GlobalGold a couple of years ago after a recommendation from a friend. Well, year one was great. Hardly any downtime at all. Year two....nightmare! My site was down for approx 12-24 hrs every two weeks or so. I lost an 8K contract due to their downtime and lack of customer service! So, a couple of weeks ago I finally moved. Global Gold is the worst hosting provider I have ever come across, do not use them at any cost. The support is literally a joke/wind up. DO NOT USE THIS HOST! I have had constant downtime ever since hosting my site with them. At least twice a week my site has been down for hours at a time. What finally made me switch was when my site was down for 8 DAYS straight. I tried to contact support but it would take 2-3 days in order to get a reply and every reply they tried to say it was something on my end which ended up not being the case. Globalgold was taken over by iomart. We were promised 100% uptime which should have set alarm bells ringing. My forums have been off line for a number of hours every day for the past 6 days. Faults blamed on hacking attempts. Techs claim IP's have been added to the firewall. Outages still occur. Support is rubbish, if you use chrome as a browser you can't see the content of the support tickets. Your lucky if you get a reply to your ticket within 4 hrs of raising it. They always say... We moved our forum over to Global Gold just over a year ago and I was immediately impressed with the service - a smooth changeover and staff who seemed switched on and knowledgeable. They were bought out by another company in Autumn 2011 and have since been merged into the larger company's datacentre, the migration was supposed to happen seamlessly overnight but my site was down for 6 hours during the business day and the problems haven't stopped since. I moved to Global Gold Uk just over a year ago. At first, although more expensive, everything seem to be fine. Alas, now that I have just paid for my second year of hosting, the site is offline, or working very slowly, a great deal of the time. The package I have is supposed to cope with 600 simultaneous users, but crashed with just ten people using the site. It was offline all night and again today. I just thought I would write and say not only how pleased I am with Global Gold, but also very surprised.
On our previous hosting, server loads would often reach levels that were so high the site would often get suspended. In fact, every hosting prior to Global Gold has seen a similar issue.
I was advised by everyone that a dedicated server was really the only way to go for busy forum communities and much to the dismay of my wallet I was almost accepting that.

Found them on the net. Speed of response is second to none and i've used loads of isps.
They truly have nice helpful tech support guys. They just do what they promise to.
Not the cheapest but then if you buy cheap, you buy twice and then end up with them.

I moved to Globalgolds' basic VPS hosting from streamline.net after over 8 months of poor performance and constant downtimes at streamline. The move was relatively painless (apart from streamline taking ages to unlock my domain) and the support so far has been outstanding, especially when compared to my previous host whose engineers were uncontactable over the weekend and worked via a support ticket system which appeared to have mostly canned responses.
