    I have bad experience of web hosting and have two domain names (.co.uk and .com) from Switch Media. but, their initial statement when I started the account with them was that I own the domain name and paid for which was at under £5 for .co.uk and just on £10 for .com, web present service with just one page for under £20, I have never received a sound service. Then after a year with them they wanting to charge me £130 per annual??!! (£20 each for domain names and £90 for web hosting??!!) I was have to send a signed hardcopy letter. Threatening me with legal action after the end of contract for payment of £130 has ended and I wanted to close my account. Their Tech service say I just need to send them a signed hardcopy but their account department says I need to pay up as well??!! and sending me renewal e-mails for £130??!!!

    After reading few reviews on here and seems to be charges are different? I recently billed for next term and the fee is also increased, domain name for next term is now £20!!!, many other companies offer less than £10 for .co.uk domain!. Its too expensive for what they do and there are many companies offer much better service and price. I want to transfer my domain and hosting service to other company which is much cheaper as they can design my 3 page website for only £100 and ...

    Dreadful. Avoid Switch Media at all costs - because whatever it costs, you'll be better off elsewhere. Their prices have recently increased way beyond general inflation, despite the fact that their approach to customer service has gone the other way, deteriorating to a level somewhere between indifference and contempt.     I am really unhappy with Switch Media. Initially it looked like good value but they have hiked their prices. I am definitely moving away from them although they seem to make this hard to do and want to make charges for doing so even at the end of the contract period.

    I have just been appointed by a client to move a number of domains from Switch Media to a new (cheaper and better) web host. Switch Media have levied a charge of £950 to unlock the domains. They also require a fax to prove that my client 'really' wants to move the domains. I thought these kind of business practices had stopped years ago.

    I have been with Switch Media for over 3 years, I have had my own account manager who has looked after all my requirements and explained when different options have become available, when they changed their prices the account manager called me and let me know, and he always gives me sound advice, I would recommend Switch Media to anyone that wants to develop their business further in terms of design and advertising.

    I've been with Switch Media for 4 years. Initially I was very satisfied with the pricing(£7.99 per year for a domain) and service. However I am now battling just to transfer my domain name away from the company, who now see fit to charge me £45 a year for the exact same service. When I then wanted to leave, I was held to ransom for another £25 just to transfer away from the company. I cant see them staying in business If they keep going the way they are.

    Overall I have been happy with the service really. I have a named person to contact if I need any help and to be honest, this is very rare as with most companies you just get the next person available in the call centre. Unlike other reviewers I haven't experienced any down time and out of several companies getting my review today, Switch Media haven't given me cause for complaint. Well recommend Switch Media.co.uk

    From the moment I ordered a Virtual Server I had problems; The service worked fine as far as I am aware. Further to this, Switch Media's support was ok but they made me feel as though they were doing a favour, when in fact, they did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem within the required SLA. I do recommend Easyspace.com if you are not running a mission critical service through your website.

    Switch Media is a good all round business web host.
    Fast data transfer rates - can burst movie files from their servers really quick my old web host throttled me down.
    Although nice having UK based tech support staff, cant get them in the evening

    I have been with Switchmedia since 2005 and although initally I was very happy with the service, they do seem to have gone rapidly downhill in the last year or so. Problems have included my website frequently going offline, my account password being reset without anyone informing me it seems and now ftp access via IE/Windows Explorer has been disabled. (I have yet to find an alternative ftp manager that will connect to their server so I'm now paying for a website that I can no longer edit.)

    Switch needs to get its act together re accounts Difficult to close the account and get transfer out code. No problem taking money from my credit card even after my account closure had been requested -several times - maybe thsi is all automated and not down to human intervention - however I found it unsatisfactory.Still no transfer out code - 2 months later.

    The 'free' domain I got with registration has proved anything but free.Theres no control panel for 'my' domain so now I have to pay to upgrade my account just to point the domain where i want it, or pay £25 AND send a fax providing a information just to transfer it away?. Domain transfers in my experience have cost from £5-10 & I have never had to fax a letter of written confirmation to do so - all a bit unfair really as far as i can see they seem to force you into hosting with the ...

    I have a few sites hosted by Switch and also 123 Reg but have generally found Switch to be more friendly and personable. My account manager is good and having used their design services for one of my sites I would well refer them to anyone.

    After I launched the site my account manager called to ask what feedback I had had on the site and in getting my staff emails set up their tech support is free and available by phone which was great.

    Personally not happy with the service or the attitude...

    I was late in making a payment so they gave me a late payment charge under the commercial debts act of £40.00.

    We asked them to produce a e-commerce web site for us at a cost of £3.5K, and the service we have received has not what I was expecting. What we had agreed with them has never been produced to the standard that we agreed I feel.

    You can reach Customer Service on the telephone in the evenings, just as well, as I really needed to!
    Was not happy with this web hosting provider, been with Swichmedia for a few years but am definitely going to change in the next week or so.

    Switchmedia offers a basic service at above basic prices in my experience and opinion. I do not recommend Switchmedia!
    I have now sent a letter asking them to cancel membership. Despite being promised that they had canceled my hosting membership verbally, they still sent me an invoice as far a I am aware.

    I have used Switch Media services for my domain name and email for two years. When their systems were working the service was adequate. Not particularly good or cheap but there was no reason to change. I had problems with their service about a year ago which was fortunately resolved eventually. Now for the last three weekends my email service has stopped working on Friday night and then restarted on Monday morning.     In my opinion Switchmedia have given me very unhelpful attitude and responses in regard to transferring a domain away from them (and the subsequent closing of an account) would definitely prevent me from recommending them to anyone in the future.
